The story begins during the start of UsefulNotes/TheKoreanWar, where the Abyssals make their first move on humanity in the form of a single destroyer. When the [[UsefulNotes/YanksWithTanks United States Seventh Fleet]] at the time try to fight the threat (assuming it was something the RedsWithRockets were up to), they are subsequently wiped out in a CurbStompBattle, with the handful of survivors of these encounters eventually [[GoMadFromTheRevelation losing all sanity]]. Just when all hope seems lost, the first ship girl, in the form of a MoeAnthropomorphism of the battleship USS [[ProperLady Iowa]], [[BigDamnHeroes appears and saves the day]] by [[CurbStompBattle single-handedly defeating the lone Abyssal scout]]. From there, the US Navy decides to establish the Special Task and Evaluation Command (STEC), and more ship girls, starting with New Jersey, begin to appear and give humanity a glimmer of hope.

* BoobsOfSteel:
** The Iowa-class sisters are very... well-endowed, to say the least. Of course, they're not as big as Yamato's [[spoiler: apparently]], but they're big in their own right. [[spoiler: The author hints that the reverse may actually be true regarding Iowa and Yamato, but we cannot know the truth for certain thanks to the former's cup size being labelled as "classified"...]]
** Louisiana, one of the never-built Montana-class battleships.
** Even Nevada is relatively stacked for someone her size.
** Hornet.
** Enterprise... not so much (at first).

* BareYourMidriff: The Yorktown-class sisters, Chicago, Houston, Narwhal, California, Surcouf, and Tashkent.

** LovableAlphaBitch: Though, once you actually do get to know her personally, her nice side pops up here and there. Just make sure you're patient enough to handle her.
* AlternateHistory: WordOfGod states that the Abyssals in this universe made their first move in June 1950, at the beginning of UsefulNotes/TheKoreanWar.

* AlternateUniverseFic[=/=]ExpandedUniverse: The authors state that this work can be either to the main [=KanColle=] game, though the divergence from the extant LooseCanon keeps growing. As of this writing in October 2019 [[https://hon-haka.org/archives/6261 Pacific-exclusive renditions of shipgirls already extant in KanColle exist.]]
** WordOfGod even states that other fics involving the US Navy shipgirls are this to ''Pacific'' as well.

* BadassCape: Maury, Nevada, and Oklahoma have black and red ones.
** And now, St. Louis has a blue one.

* BigDamnHeroes: Iowa's first appearance and subsequent battle with the first Abyssal scout qualifies.
** New Jersey's timely arrival a few years after that counts as well.
* BigGood: Enterprise, based on the most decorated American ship of UsefulNotes/WorldWarII, and the center girl in the pic above. This is even acknowledged by the author.
** STEC, the organization responsible for handling the US ship girls, also counts.

* PatrioticFervor: Maury, who even waves around an American flag.
** Edsall has a costume that puts Maury's to shame.

* PintSizedPowerHouse: Nevada, in comparison to the other battleships.

* ProperLady: Iowa certainly has the looks, grace, and clothes of one.
** LadyOfWar: And she doesen't lose her grace and cool when fighting Abyssals either.

* RedEyesTakeWarning: Played straight with [[AxCrazy Phoenix]].
** Enterprise too, but only if you're an Abyssal or IJN kanmusu.
** Dolphin also counts, but its mostly due to her DrillSergeantNasty personality.
* RedOniBlueOni: The St. Louis sisters are this, with Helena as the red to St. Louis' blue. Their eye colors should make this obvious.
** Also Maury (Blue Oni) and O'Bannon (Red Oni).

* TheRival: Maury to Shimakaze, especially with regards to anything related to racing.

* RunningGag: [[ButtMonkey Louisville's]] name getting pronounced wrong. To the point that the authors themselves suffered the same problem.

** One of the equipment fairies (specifically the one for Anti-Air duties) featured on himeuta resembles [[Film/PearlHarbor Cuba Gooding Jr.]].
*** Another one resembles Creator/SeanConnery as Franchise/JamesBond.

*** Iowa's second 4-koma has a blatant reference to ''Film/ManOfSteel''.

* SouthernBelle: Louisiana has shades of this and [[SouthernFriedPrivate Southern-Fried Battleship]].
** Langley as well, of the "Bonne Belle" type, in addition to being ThePioneer.
* SouthernFriedPrivate: Narwhal, down to the straw in her mouth and stereotypical southern accent.

** Houston as well, in addition to being a {{Cowgirl}} ''and'' a SouthernFriedGenius.

* {{Stripperific}}: Helena's costume is the worst violator so far.
