[[Main/Scotireland Scotireland]]: “Lochland” as it’s called, is mentioned during the first half as the place that Elise’s maternal family comes from. We don’t visit it all but it can be assumed by the name alone that it basically is this trope, as well as by the fact it’s natives seem to all be redheads with a certain accent.

* MindManipulation: Mephiles seems to have taken several key DC characters from the old timeline and uses them as [[Main/EliteMooks special soldiers]] of sorts, them being very effective at mentally effecting those who know them (just ask Barry). This process being referred to as enthrallment, they are left as essentially mindless, grayscale versions of themselves. The first to be freed was Wally West in Chapters 7-8, though he was joined by Oliver Queen in Chapter 11, and finally a certain [[spoiler: Red Hood/Jason Todd]] at the tail end of Chapter 13. [[spoiler: Muss Martian (M’gann M’orzz)]] is freed in Chapter 16.

* AnyoneCanDie: Lady Mairghread in Chapter 6 is built up to be a personal antagonist for Elise, though the entire character arc is concluded by the end of the chapter and Mairghread is removed from life at the very end as well. On the protagonists side, [[spoiler:Mighty the Armadillo]] dies trying to save the life of Charmy Bee while on Angel Island, and became the first non-robotic Sonic character to perish in-fic. It's also very doubtful that every single civilian made it out okay when Eggman's robots chased after Elise & Espio in the New City district, nor all of the Soleanna royal guards when Blaze & Silver charged into the train terminal on their "mission". And let's not even get started on Crisis City...

* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: As Barry is the initial focus character and doesn't have his powers at first, the first few portions of Sonic, Shadow & Silver's arcs occur entirely "offscreen", and starting from Crisis City onwards Barry is tagging along with Shadow and co. - resulting in Sonic & Silver's arcs remaining mostly offscreen. Though while Sonic gets a recap in Chapter 6 and is more than likely to get another one in the coming chapters, Silver appears to have most of his entire arc as offscreen.

** Lady Mairghread and her cohorts Christina, Ernesto "Ernie" and Matteo "Matt" all take their first names from the writers & producers of ''Apokolips War''. None of these characters are nice people, nor do they meet nice fates. In fact, the ways in which they die mirrors ways certain characters in Apokolips War perished.

* TheChessmaster: Both how Mephiles views himself and how Team Dark (or at least Shadow) views him as. Between kidnapping and mind controlling key people from the previous timeline, to manipulating Silver to attempt killing Sonic & Barry to do the same with Shadow, to recruiting key figures to aid in his goal to reform into Solaris [[spoiler:and establish a multiverse spanning "New Apokolips" Empire]] and the various things he's had his elite henchmen do to accomplish these goals it's clear his plan has a lot of pieces on the board so to speak.

* FixFic: Is an interesting example in that the story almost tricks you into thinking this was subverted back in Chapter 3, only for the antagonist to literally force it on all of the heroes in Chapter 16 ([[spoiler: by transporting them all to the part of the movie's timeline right before the invasion of Apokolips happened]]) whether he intended them to go through with it or not. [[spoiler:The fact the story features Jason Todd as the Red Hood and the original Wally West also ignores the WordOfGod that the Robin indentity went directly from Dick to Damian in the DCAMU and the Kid Flash in ''The Judas Contract'' was a young Barry.]]

* FixFic: Is an interesting example in that the story almost tricks you into thinking this was subverted back in Chapter 3, only for the antagonist to literally force it on all of the heroes in Chapter 16 ([[spoiler: by transporting them all to the part of the movie's timeline right before the invasion of Apokolips happened]]) whether he intended them to go through with it or not.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: When Doctor Fate and his current avatar (confirmed not to be the same as any named ones from the movies or the comics) shows up in Chapter 16 it's not only basically out of nowhere but also in terms of explanation only assumed by the heroes but not really stated by him if he's fully working with Mephiles/Darkseid or just supports the "order" they'd create a la ''VideoGame/Injustice2''.

* CosmicRetcon: The one at the end of Apokolips War is ultimately undone when the [[spoiler: old timeline from before Superman invaded Apokolips]] is restored.

* ShoutOut:
** The most prominent example is the name of the G.U.N. aircraft carrier that appears prominently from Chapters 8 through to it's destruction in 12, it's named after Tom Kalinske - the head of Sega of America back in the 90's.
** The entire concept of the [[spoiler: Changelings]] as shapeshifting insectoid beings that also drain the emotions of their victims while being in service to a Queen is an obvious, though far more matured (saying the least of it) reference to [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic a certain cartoon about ponies]].
** Chapter 4 on Archive of Our Own's version of the fic is titled ''"Truth" and Restoration'', which is similar to the level ''Truth and Reconciliation'' of [[VideoGame/HaloCombatEvolved Halo: Combat Evolved]]
** Granny Goodness when she first appears uses a disguise known as "Gretchen Goode", ''[[WesternAnimation/YoungJustice she did something very similiar in season 3 of a particular superhero show]]''
** In Chapter 13, Barda & Gilotina share an exchange that barring a few words is pretty much exactly what they said in ''WesternAnimation/SupermanBatmanApocalypse'', which given the situation seems rather intentional.
** Later on in the same chapter, Kalibak tells to Shadow ''[[WesternAnimation/ThePrinceOfEgypt "you're playing with the big boys now!"]]''

As the title might suggest, it so happens to be a {{Crossover}} of the ''WesternAnimation/DCAnimatedMovieUniverse'' with ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog''. Yes this actually is a thing now.

* InSpiteOfANail: Despite the timeline changing to a point where antropomorphic animals exist as (allegedly)native earth creatures and all of earth's continents are different in shape, Barry and Iris as well as their families still exist and have the same jobs as they normally do. It's even implied that [[MyParentsAreDead Nora Allen still died]] in much the same way she did in the original timeline.

* HijackedByGanon: Due to this being an adaptation of the Sonic 06 storyline, it was inevitable that Mephiles would hijack the main villain title from Eggman. He does it rather early too, literally the chapter right after Eggman shows up regardless of what site you read the fic on.

* AllThereInTheManual: With this being a continuation fic, obviously the events of the film(s) this follows are explained, in, well - those films. Same goes for the Sonic games that occurred prior to 06, though some of their events do get recounted in dialogue and/or have their aftermaths shown.

** Going off the specific Sonic game being crossed over with the DCAMU, Sonic gets a ''massive'' speed and power upgrade as well by comparison. He's roughly up to par with the likes of the other speedsters in this story and is fully capable of accomplishing feats just like them, though he is of course smaller in height to them.

** New Genesis is also mentioned in Chapter 13, the explanation for their absence in the old timeline being that they were at war with the Lantern corps for control over their rings - which allowed Darkseid to run rampant as shown in the movies. This in turn meant that emotions like fear (read: Sinestro) and rage (read: Atrocitus) received major boosts, with the red lanters having at one point overpowered Metron, willingly giving the mobius chair to Darkseid. Which unintentionally led to a certain event in Apokolips War involving Batman. There is however no news on whether or not they exist or have an equivalent in the new timeline.

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Barry's third flashpoint has managed, apparently, to create the Sonic timeline, and - so far at least - outside of himself, Iris and their immediate families [[spoiler:(barring Wally and Wallace who are evidently simply not born yet)]], none of the people he recognizes from the DC lineup exist in this new timeline at all. In addition to that, [[spoiler:Mephiles reveals that just like the previous two timelines, this one is going to end in [[Main/ApocalypseHow complete disaster]] too.
