* ThereCanBeOnlyOne: The Holy Grail War involves seven mages called Masters which are each paired with a Heroic Spirit, known as a Servant. To obtain the Holy Grail, a device capable of granting a wish, each pair will fight to the death until only one pair is left standing.

* NighInvulnerable: Servants are spirits. Because of this, they're incredibly durable and conventional weaponry is useless on them. The can only be harmed by attacks with a magical, spiritual, or conceptual enchantment.
