Older Fallout fans will recognize that the door opening outwards rather than inwards is a staple of the Vaults in the Fallout games prior to Videogame/{{Fallout3}}.

** Mad Jack is one of [[{{Badass}} Fighting]] [[UsefulNotes/WorldWarTwo Jack Churchill]].

* INeedAFreakingDrink: An occasional reaction from Scouring Charge at moments of extreme stress, not that it seems to slow him down much.

* ScheduleSlip: Between sabotage, failures, explosions and sabotage by shiny things, the group rarely manages to stay on target for long. In fact, []spoiler: it's so bad that it takes the Vanhoover Five weeks just to find the generator they need to fix the Valkyrie.]] Out of universe, this is subverted by the creators themselves. Despite writing the fic for well over a year and a half, barring a couple of breaks, the writers have churned out chapters week after week without fail.

** [[spoiler: Though not as large as the other examples, the 88mm AA guns at the sub pen count, being expies of the [[NazisWithGnarlyWeapons 8.8cm Flak 37 AA/AT gun]]. By extension, this also includes Rheinmetall's tank's cannon, which is effectively the same gun.]]

* ArbitrarySkepticism: [[spoiler: Quite late into the story, the group runs into a pony adamantly convinces that megaspells are an urban myth. A ghoul pony no less.]]

* HeroofAnotherStory: Played with. Scouring Charge has more combat experience than the other heroes combined, and more experience with the wider wasteland. He even has his own FiveManBand and better contacts among some major Wasteland organisations. While he plays second fiddle to Night Strike and Static Charge, he also disappears for chunks of the story to pursue his own goals.

** [[spoiler: The same thing happens again on their later arrival, where the corrupt guards try to steal a rather large cannon the heroes are trying to sell off. It only takes Static a few seconds to make them realise how bad an idea this would be.]]

* BoringButPractical: Averted by almost every character in the fic when it comes to weapons, save for the odd exception such as Aerith's tommy gun. Equally, while it doesn't make much explode, Static's magic-vision goggles have been surprisingly helpful in picking out certain foes.

** One of the three competing teams in the air race consisted of a trio of ponies, [[Creator/JeremyClarkson one obsessed with POWER and hammers]], [[Creator/JamesMay another known for being slow in the speed department]], and [[Creator/RichardHammond one with the nickname 'hamster']]. Their team name had the initials TGAF. [[Series/TopGear What a bunch of petrolheads were doing building aircraft, the world may never know.]]
