Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

* ParadoxPerson: Cerea, to a degree. It's been repeated at several different points in the Continuum that magic comes with sapience, that anything which can think has ''some'' form of magic. Judging by her reactions to platinum and plastic, Cerea has ''no'' magic, despite being undeniably sapient -- and when everything starts to hit the fan, it makes her the '''''only''''' person whom the Diarchy can ask to [[spoiler: enter Tartarus to assess and evaluate Tirek]], because she has nothing which can be stolen. [[spoiler:Taken UpToEleven in chapter 93, where Cerea ''manifests a Cutie Mark'', despite not being a pony... a mark that lets her emit an ''AntiMagic LaserBlade'', meaning her "magic" is to ''nullify magic''.]]

These examples of Surprisingly Realistic Outcome seem to violate at least one of these rules, which disqualifies them: No character reactions (characters get angry, don't forgive, don't change their personality instantly, etc.); Too fantastical (depends on the properties of magic, powers, sci-fi tech, monsters, etc.); Not surprising (a character was warned about the outcome, it's used to provide Karma or An Aesop, or it simply follows normal conventions for this genre or medium); Plot happens (the example only describes an event, but not why audiences would expect a different, unrealistic outcome); Not an outcome (a character just explains why something wouldn't work as expected); More of a Deconstruction (the event has major, lasting effects on the plot, make something more realistic, but not completely realistic, or a parody/fanwork applies realistic consequences to the events of a different work); or fits better under a different trope. See the trope's definition for more details. If you believe a removal was a mistake, please bring it up in the cleanup thread.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** Cerea spends at least two days in a wild zone before encountering ponies. The injuries sustained lead to infection, and Equestria's knowledge of centaur medicine is limited to treating the wounds they ''inflict''. There are no antibiotics for her, and the only thing which saves her life is Celestia [[HealItWithFire burning out the infection]].
** Also applies to the entire ''Manga/MonsterMusume'' world. The flashbacks we've seen from Cerea's perspective have been demonstrating exactly how harsh parts of that environment are, along with the sheer number of problems caused by the integration laws -- and the damage done through having all of those species isolated for so long in the first place.
** No matter how much knightly training Cerea's received, she's essentially a terrified teenager who's trying to reconcile the idea that not only may there be no way for anypony to send her home, but everyone she's ever cared about has probably decided she's ''dead''.
** So, the ruler of Equestria is the only being that can keep the Sun and Moon functioning like they should. That means that the survival of ''all life on the planet'' depends on that ruler being kept safe at all times from any harm, which in turn requires a Royal Guard whose entire function boils down to prioritizing the safety of Celestia (and subsequently Luna) above all else. Which in turn alienates members of the Guard from other beings, who usually can't even grasp the implications of their duty intellectually, never mind emotionally.
** Even in Canterlot, and even after the Princess's return and the reestablishment of the Night Court and the Lunar Guard, those awake under Moon are still a relatively small portion of the population. There aren't as many businesses open during their hours, it's difficult for them to find friends outside of fellow Lunars, and many potential romantic relationships are cut off because neither party is willing to abandon their life for the other's hours or wants a relationship composed entirely of brief morning-and-evening exchanges. (Potions do exist to quickly flip the sleep cycle, but the effects are decidedly imperfect).
** During the press conference, Nightwatch's support of Cerea was caught in the innumerable photos the press took, and the photos were more than clear enough to permit recognition. And while Cerea actually lives in the palace and under the protection of both the Diarchs and the Guard, Nightwatch's apartment is out in the city, where those wishing to make their disapproval known can easily access it. This comes to a head in Chapter 29, when a CUNET extremist starts a fire at her door.

In particular, now that he's "on duty", Cerberus possesses a toxic saliva powerful enough to cow even the other {{Eldritch Abomination}}s present in Tartarus, and Fluttershy's ability to commune with animals has no effect on him at all.
