Wolfram learned this the hard way when he believed his own power and the amplification device would allow him to take down All Might, Hawks, and Empathy at the same time and lost.

* AdultFear:
** Kiyome's husband dies suddenly and she has to raise a young child by herself with seemingly no family to turn to.
** Hawks was more or less bought by the Heroics Commission because he and his mother were destitute and he had no agency until adulthood.
** Inko realizes that her son and his mentor were lying to her for months. And that Izuku could have been crippled by his new Quirk.
** Inko and Izuku find out that the man they call husband/father is a horrible supervillain and their lives were essentially lies.

* AntiNepotism: Uraraka is rather upset that her best friends, when given a chance to recommend people for exclusive internships with two Top Ten Heroes didn’t consider her, their friend at all. Instead her friends picked people on standards they don’t tell anyone about so she doesn’t know to make herself recognized. Unbeknownst to her, Izuku and Tenya decided their recommendations based on who did and didn’t benefit from the Sports Festival and the resulting internships. Monoma and Shinsou made terrible showings at the Sports Festival due their Quirk being more suitable for espionage rather a combat-focused competition. In addition due to FantasticRacism, it would a lot harder for the two to find good internships or any opportunities to train outside of school. Whereas Momo and Itsuka were badly screwed over by their internship who used them as props for a commercial instead of teaching them anything. Which badly hurt their self-esteems and left them undertrained. In contrast, Uraraka made a great showing at the Sports Festival and had a worthwhile internship which is why she wasn’t recommended

* TemptingFate: Hawks figures his rise to Number Two is temporary, and he'll eventually drop back to Number Three. Not knowing of the outside factors that conspire to have him either keep his new position or kick him further up.
* TraumaInducedAmnesia: Rei wonders what happened to her son, Touya, and wonders why he hasn't come to visit her like the rest of his siblings. Rei also wonders why Fuyumi gets this look on her face when she asks about Touya.
* UnpleasantParentReveal: Izuku is horrified when Toshinori verifies through Inko's wedding photos that his father Hisashi is All for One.

* EmotionalFainting: After nearly being abducted by a flying Noumu, right after fighting Stain, Izuku passes out when Hawks rescues him.

* BillyElliotPlot: Kiyome's parents wanted their daughter to become a rich and famous pro hero. Kiyome refused because she saw the Heroics industry as hopelessly corrupt and became a vigilante instead. The Takami parents let the Commission enslave their daughter and grandson in exchange for a massive bribe without a shred of remorse.

* OneSidedRivalry: Endeavor greatly dislikes Hawks for taking his spot as Number Two Hero and for being an upstart. Hawks has adored Endeavor since childhood and looks at him as an idol. And Hawks is rather disturbed that his idol hates him for no reason.

* ChocolateBaby: Zigzagged. It at first seems that Izuku might be one because his PowerCopying Quirk seems like it has elements of his mother's Quirk, but not his father's. Children usually have either one of their parents' Quirks, a mix of both, or something completely new. To have a combination with one parent and not the other usually means YourCheatingHeart, but Izuku is legitimate, and his Quirk ''is'' a mix of his parents'. Hisashi just lied about his Quirk being fire breath.

* BelatedHappyEnding: For ''Manga/VigilanteMyHeroAcademiaIllegals''. Kouichi married Tensei and joined him as a sidekick in Idaten. Pop☆Step is poached from Idaten as a sidekick for Hawks, which means she's on her way to fame.

* TookALevelInBadass: Pop☆Step is much more formidable than she was years before in ''Manga/VigilanteMyHeroAcademiaIllegals'', as years of experience and training under Hawks have made her more powerful. She's able to train several Hero Course students without breaking a sweat.

* NamedByTheAdaptation: As of the story's publishing, Hawks' civilian name hasn't been revealed. The author dubs Hawks Keigo Takami. As of January 30, 2020 his name has been edited to his canon Keigo Takami.

* Stress Vomit: Kiyome is on the verge of vomiting [[spoiler: when she finds out her parent sold her and her son out to the Commission because she refused to be a pro hero.]]

* NeverMyFault: Despite Shiketsu nearly being UA's equal, the majority of the Top Hundred Heroes are all UA graduates. ** Mirko tears Vlad King a new one for overfocusing his students on Quirk training to the point of neglecting their physical training. Which would get them killed if his students had to fight an actual villain. Seeing actual students having to fight for their lives against villains and seeing fellow Pros maimed or killed due to poor training, Mirko sees having varied training as life or death. Vlad King defends that his students could die if they don't get fine enough control on their Quirks. He had the summer training camp and the winter semester to focus on physical training and he didn't expect villains to start attacking students and thought they would have had a normal school year!

* NeverLiveItDown:
** InUniverse. Hawks knows the day that his mother will forgive him for jumping out of their apartment window to test out his wings is still a long day coming.
** Monoma knows that everyone will know him for asking Todoroki and Izuku out on a date at the same time.

* OneDialogueTwoConversations: Neito discusses with Hawks how Neito could successfully fight any pro-heroes that take liberties with him through Neito's political connections through his ambassador mother and French politician father. Hawks pointedly looks at Shouto through the conversation, wordlessly pointing out that politicians could pressure the Commission to have Endeavor face consequences.
