** In the penultimate chapter, Sunset reveals that, intellectually, she understands why the girls turned on her as they did. After all, Sunset had been an unrepentant bully for years, and all the evidence was pointing at her. She even admits that she would've reacted the same way has the situations been reversed. That said, just because Sunset understands the reasoning behind their actions, does not change the fact that the girls hurt her, and abandoned her when she needed them, and as a result of this, Sunset straight up tells them that she can't trust them anymore.

* {{Angrish}}: Twilight is so furious at the Humane 5 for their actions that she can't even form ''words''. This happens twice in the same chapter.

* DisappointedByTheMotive: The best explanation Scootaloo can come up with for being part of Anon-A-Miss is "ItSeemedLikeAGoodIdeaAtTheTime". Rainbow is understandably disgusted, since Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle at least had a motive -- a short-sighted, selfish, petty motive, but a motive all the same -- Scootaloo doesn't even have ''that''.

* DisappointedByTheMotive: Rainbow Dash gets two separate moments of this.
** The first time is when Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo confess to being Anon-A-Miss. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle acted out of [[GreenEyedMonster jealousy]] that Sunset Shimmer was getting so much attention from Applejack and Rarity, causing the Crusaders to feel left out when Sunset was invited to a sleepover and they weren't. The Rainbooms aren't too happy about how petty of a reason that is to basically ruin Sunset's life. Rainbow in particular calls the Crusaders "secret-spreading, backstabbing, lying little brats" after they confess. She also points out that the upcoming Apple family holiday party was right around the corner, and that Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle would have had plenty of time to hang out with their sisters there. Had they just waited a few more days, they would have gotten everything that they wanted.
** The second time is when Rainbow asks Scootaloo why she was part of Anon-A-Miss, because Scootaloo doesn't have a sister in the Rainbooms. The best explanation Scootaloo can come up with is "ItSeemedLikeAGoodIdeaAtTheTime". Rainbow is disgusted, punching Scootaloo in the face. Later, Rainbow says that while Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle at least had a motive -- a short-sighted, selfish, petty motive, but a motive all the same -- Scootaloo doesn't even have ''that''. Rainbow spelling it out this way has it dawn on Scootaloo that she committed all those terrible acts as Anon-A-Miss for basically no reason.

* DisappointedByTheMotive: Rainbow is furious when she finds out that the reason Scootaloo went along with Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle is nothing more than "ItSeemedLikeAGoodIdeaAtTheTime." Rainbow points out that at least Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle had a motive for what they did, albeit a selfish, short-sighted one; Scootaloo doesn't even have ''that''. [[spoiler:Sunset does the same thing in the sequel story, ''Life Goes On''.]]

* FixFic: The fic can be seen as what could have happened if the 2014 Holiday Special wasn't a single issue and what would have happened if everything [[RealityEnsues was played out with the realistic consequences]].

* RealityEnsues:
** So you commit a huge act of cyberbullying and frame an innocent person as being the culprit? As Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo learn the hard way, you will ''not'' be let off easily if you perform a scheme like that. They are given detention for six months, banned from all extracurriculars until the next school year, banned from the school computers unless it's for class, they are no longer allowed to have their cell phones on their person during the school day, they got their Christmas presents and their technology (especially the ones that can access the internet) confiscated, everybody including their own families loses all trust in them, and they became targets for vengeful CHS students. In fact, it's made clear that the only reason why they were allowed to attend the annual Apple Christmas party was so they could help clean up afterwards.
** The fic demonstrates that a huge act of betrayal is ''not'' something that can be [[EasilyForgiven resolved in a day or forgiven instantly]]. The CMC trying to break apart their sisters' friendship with Sunset for selfishly petty reasons utterly disgusted the Humane Five. In Rainbow's case, she can't bring herself to forgive Scootaloo and more or less breaks all ties with her. Likewise, Sunset does not just easily forgive and forget her so-called friends for ditching her the moment something went wrong.
** While Nurse Redheart figures out what's going on when the bullying against the CMC for revenge starts getting physical, she can't actually do anything about it other than tend their injuries because of school rules and policies. Redheart is only allowed to interfere when she sees bullying occur herself, which the bullies are careful to avoid, or the CMC confess where their injuries came from. [[spoiler:The moment the CMC finally confirm her suspicions and provide evidence, Redheart takes it straight to Principal Celestia, saying that she would have done it sooner if she was able to do so.]]
** In Chapter 6, it's revealed that Sunset quit [=MyStable=] after the Anon-A-Miss incident, and that if she didn't need it for homework, she would never have anything to do with the internet ever again. Being a victim of cyberbullying, especially if you get framed for it, [[TruthInTelevision would sour anyone's experience with social media]].
** Turns out ''saying'' you've moved on and forgiven someone is not the same thing as ''actually'' moving on and forgiving someone. Everyone can tell that Sunset is still angry about the whole situation despite her continuing to hang out with the Humane Five months after the Anon-A-Miss incident. Her refusal to talk about it doesn't help.
** When a group of students comes up to Sunset in Chapter 5 and apologize for how they treated her, Sunset doesn't believe them, as not only is this not the first time they've [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsRainbowRocks treated her this way]], but also because there are students in the school who willingly submitted secrets to the Anon-A-Miss profile, and still chose to blame her for it [[note]] While WordOfGod confirms that none of the specific students who apologized to her in this scene sent secrets to Anon-A-Miss, there's no way Sunset can know that[[/note]]. She only pretends to accept their apology so they'll leave her alone.
** During a mental breakdown, Sunset [[spoiler:hits a RageBreakingPoint and slams her fists and forehead into a mirror. The mirror breaks, severely lacerating Sunset's hands and face, and the blood loss, combined with the severe emotional stress she's under, causes her to black out. She ends up in the ER]].
** When the girls run into the Sirens outside the hospital, Applejack proclaims that they thought they had seen the last of them. Aria points out that that she and her sisters have been banished from Equestria and expelled from CHS, and that moving to a new town requires a lot of money, which the Sirens don't have. When Rarity states that they belong in prison for the trouble they caused in "Rainbow Rocks", Adagio mockingly points out that there's no way the police would believe "evil sea ponies from another dimension tried to take over our high school with pop music." With all that in mind, [[VillainHasAPoint the Humane Five admit that they're essentially stuck with the Sirens]], and are bound to run into them from time to time.
** After visiting Sunset in the hospital following her breakdown, Twilight recognizes that Sunset has serious issues that require professional help to deal with, which she and the Humane Five simply aren't qualified to provide.
** After the CMC finally fess up about [[spoiler:the physical assault they had been through, Principal Celestia [[WhatTheHellHero chews the entire school out for their behavior]] and harshly punishes the tormentors. Being angry at Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo for Anon-A-Miss is understandable, but it does NOT give any of the other students a free pass to viciously bully them]].
** In the penultimate chapter, Sunset tells the Humane Five that she gets why they suspected her of being Anon-A-Miss. After all, Sunset had been an unrepentant bully for years, so it was only logical to assume with evidence pointed at her that she'd gone back to her old ways. Sunset even admits that she would've reacted similarly had the roles been reversed. [[spoiler:''However'', just because Sunset understands ''why'' her friends did what they did, does not change the fact that they still hurt her, and abandoned her at a time when she needed them the most, and she straight up tells them that because of that, she can't trust them anymore.]]

The only reason why they stopped is because Celestia threatened to give everybody a month of detention if anything else got tossed.

* CirclingMonologue: Adagio and Aria do this when mocking the Humane 5 over their failures as Sunset's friends.

** When the girls run into the Sirens outside the hospital, Applejack proclaims that they thought they had seen the last of them. * TranquilFury: This is Rainbow's initial reaction to the CMC's reasons for being Anon-A-Miss, and then she loses it after Scootaloo's excuse is ItSeemedLikeAGoodIdeaAtTheTime.

It reaches the point where Sunset starts to get into internal arguments with it. * AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: Sunset and Flash at one point reminisce about a date of theirs where Flash's car broke down, forcing him to call his mother for a lift. She showed up wearing a bathrobe and a visible thong, much to Flash's embarrassment.

* EvenEvilHasStandards: In the opening chapter, Sonata finds Sunset by herself, and (correctly) deduces that her friends have abandoned her. She openly admits that it was a crappy thing to do. And later on in the story, she makes no attempt to hide her disgust when she and the other Dazzlings confront the Humane Five.

* KickTheDog: The Sirens go out of their way to bump into the Humane Five and CMC and mock them for all the pain they've caused Sunset.

* ObliviousGuiltSlinging: Ironically, Twilight does this during some ''intentional'' guilt slinging. When Rarity weakly tries to bring up the "evidence" against Sunset (the photos that came from her phone), Twilight suggests the possibility that someone may have swiped her phone and stolen the pictures off of them. Rarity flinches at this, since not only is this exactly what happened, it occurred to Twilight (who's from a world where phones don't even exist) when it never occurred to any of the Humane Five.

* ProducePelting: When the CMC confess that they’re the true Anon-A-Miss culprits at the school assembly, the CHS students respond with throwing garbage and various other objects at them. [[spoiler:When the Sirens arrive at the hospital where an injured Sunset is being treated later, she's the only one that appears genuinely angry at the way Sunset was treated, and isn't simply there to mock the Humane Five like her sisters are]].

* YouHaveGottoBeKiddingMe: [[spoiler: Sunset is ''flabbergasted'' when the CMC reveal their motivation behind Anon-A-Miss. She had initially assumed it was for revenge for how she treated them and their sister before the Fall Formal, and to learn that it was nothing more than petty jealousy is more than her brain can handle.]]

However, during the two months afterwards, they had no such luck, and the submitters either kept their heads down or [[{{Hypocrite}} joined in the retributional bullying towards the CMC]]. Their luck finally ran out when, after Celestia finds out about the physical assault the CMC have gone through, she finally decides to issue an ultimatum threatening to shut down computer use and extracirriculars for the entire school unless the submitters confess. She also promises to outright expel the ones that don't do so by the end of the day. All of the submitters proceed to turn themseves in, either because they truly felt guilty for what they did (Twist) or to avoid expulsion (Diamond Tiara), and they all recieve six weeks of detention and banishment from the school computers unless it's for class]].

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: The CMC and the Humane 5 both go through this; The CMC when they realize they went too far and decide to confess, and the Humane 5 when they realized that they turned against their friend on the slimsiest of evidence.

* OrderedApology: As part of their punishment, Celestia forces Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo to confess to being Anon-A-Miss at a school assembly, apologize for the secrets they spread, then pubically take down the website. This was also done so Sunset's name could be cleared.

** [[spoiler: The penultimate chapter reveals that Fluttershy explained the broken mirror to her parents as Sunset tripping on the bathroom rug (in reality she had smashed it in a fit of despair), either to respect Sunset's privacy or to keep her parents from kicking Sunset out of their house. * DeconstructionFic: This fic dos away with the EsotericHappyEnding of the canon comic and explores the realistic and long-lasting consequences of the CMC's and the Humane 5's questionable actions during the Equestria Girls Holiday Special.

* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: It's pointed out to several characters in the fic that had they done certain things differently - the Humane Five having more faith in Sunset, the CMC talking to their sisters, etc. - the whole mess with Anon-A-Miss wouldn't have gotten s out of control as it did. In "Life Goes On," Sunset takes this even further by pointing out that had the CMC waited until the week was over, they could have just hung out with their sisters at the Apple Family Christmas party. Instead they threw a mad fit because they weren't allowed to attend two slumber parties that were ''meant for Sunset'', and started an online defamation campaign that completely turned the lives of everyone at CHS upside down.

* EvenTheDogIsAshamed: Played with. Spike, who assumes a dog form in the Human World, is disappointed with the Humane Five and CMC as much as Twilight is.

It seems to be working, as Rainbow is starting to talk to Scootaloo again even though their relationship is still in shambles.
