* AntiquatedLinguistics: The first odd thing Ruby realizes after waking up is that Jaune is suddenly talking "fancy". Knight (as he's eventually nicknamed), having come from a medieval RPG universe rather than a modern-flavored one, sticks out by talking in flowery, dramatic prose like he's a character in a period piece.

* KnightInShiningArmor: Knight is referred to as one by Ruby, word for word. He lives up to the trope by protecting a seemingly-defenseless fellow Jaune without hesitation, and accepting his role in the game in a heartbeat because it's in his nature to protect the innocent by fighting evil, without a care for what he could personally get out of the deal.

* NayTheist: Knight doesn't particularly care about getting the Gods' promised reward, as his experiences have taught him to be wary of asking for boons from so-called "gods". Meanwhile, Fate actively ''hates'' any divine being, as one has made his life an unending hell for its own whims, and he refuses the participate in the Gods' game partly out of spite.

* TheBlacksmith: Knight's default class, as in Forged Destiny.

to:

* BerserkButton: Fate has issues with divine beings screwing around with his life. When he's face to face with a representative of two such beings, who has just told him he's been made into a plaything again, his attitude goes from irritated to ''frothing rage''.
* TheBlacksmith: Knight's default class, as in Forged Destiny. It is literally spelled out above his head under his name, which freaks Ruby out when she first notices.

* ConservationOfNinjutsu: Jinn isn't allowed to give information on the other side's Jaunes, beyond that this trope is in effect. The side with more Jaunes will get weaker ones on average to keep things fair.

to:

* ClusterFBomb: Fate's response to Jinn explaining the premise of the story to him is a profanity-laden rant towards her and the Gods.
* ConservationOfNinjutsu: Jinn isn't allowed to give information on the other side's Jaunes, beyond that this trope is in effect. The side with more Jaunes will get weaker ones on average to keep things fair. How that holds up when one Jaune's summoning was unintentionally botched, leaving him as literal dead weight when he could have been a powerful contender, remains to be seen.

* ExperiencedProtagonist: Most of the Jaunes summoned have experienced extensive character development in their respective stories. The most notable ones confirmed to be in the story thus far are Fate (who's repeated Beacon for two centuries), as well as Leviathan and Knight (who have been pulled from the very end of their stories).

Barista as well, but being very experienced at making coffee doesn't really matter.

* MrExposition: Jinn, as is her nature, but for the Jaune deathmatch the Gods have altered her purpose. She is no longer bound to the limit of three questions, but will seemingly only answer questions relevant to the game (and won't if the answer would give an unfair advantage, like selling out the strengths and weaknesses of enemy Jaunes). Half of the first chapter is Jinn giving an info dump to the characters about what the story is going to be.

* SwordBeam: One of Knight's abilities as a Swordmaster.

* UltimateBlacksmith: Knight started out as a normal blacksmith before his journey boosted his levels and power to the point of becoming the strongest blacksmith alive back in his home universe.
* UnreliableNarrator: Averted in regards to Knight, whose [[Fanfic/ForgedDestiny story]] was told entirely in the first person. Arc Royale is told in third person, so it won't be limited or biased by his own perspective.

* OutsideContextProblem: The very scenario itself threatens to throw the status quo into complete anarchy, but Knight in particular displays it most obviously from the first chapter. He's one of several Jaunes who comes from a completely different setting from canon ''RWBY'' and so has totally different powers, and flabbergasts Ozpin by claiming to both know about magic and to have killed his version of Salem, the latter of which none of the other Jaunes (besides Barista) know the significance of.
* PunchCatch: Knight defends Leviathan from a pissed-off Yang by grabbing her Semblance-enhanced fist without apparent effort.

Hunter isn't quite as mad, but thinks he has the right idea, as world-shattering battles are neither his business nor his responsibility.

He laments that he's got all the knowledge and experience he could ask for, but none of it will do him any good when he's as weak as regular Jaune and he's up against the likes of Knight, who are apparently in their prime.
* WeAreNotGoingThroughThatAgain: Fate has already had more than enough of being jerked around by unfathomable cosmic beings playing games, and declares his intention to sit out this conflict.
* WeAREStrugglingTogether: This is a concern that gets brought up fast once Fate calls attention to it. Though they're on the same team for the purposes of deciding the outcome of the war, only the last surviving Jaune will get rewarded with their wish. This means that unless it comes down to one good versus one evil Jaune, then allies ''will'' have to kill each other to get what they want, and theoretically they could do it at any time if they feel it won't sabotage the game for their side. Ozpin urges them to work together at least until the game is done.

* DoesntTrustThoseGuys: Hunter, as a literal hunter of animals for food, does not identify with glory-hound superpowered Huntsmen and isn't happy that he's suddenly surrounded by them, and apparently forced to fight for his life against them.
* DoppelgangerGetsSameSentiment: Even once it becomes clear that this Ruby is not ''his'' Ruby, Knight still hovers protectively around her and tries to comfort her when the day's events leave her upset and uncertain.

* ExperiencedProtagonist: Most of the Jaunes summoned have gone through an entire story of character growth before having been summonned. The most notable ones comfirmed to be in the story thus far are Not This Time Fate Jaune (Who's experienced over 2000 worth of repeating Beacon) and Forged Destiny Jaune, Who has seemingly been pulled from the very end of his story.

* ImNotAHeroIm: Hunter isn't up to fighting in the Gods' game, because Jaune or not, he isn't some kind of hero, he's a guy who can track animals to feed his family.

* ReallyGetsAround: Fate, who uses his knowledge of his various runs through Beacon to get laid both in his own story and in Arc Royale. Not wanting to play along with this war, his first thought is to go have what fun he can while he's here.
* RefusalOfTheCall: While the prospect of getting any one thing he wants gives him some pause, Fate feels the game is stacked against him and doesn't want to submit to the Gods' plan. Hunter isn't quite as mad, but thinks he has the right idea, as world-shattering battles are neither his business nor his responsibility.

* StoryBreakerPower: Some of the Jaune's summoned are far more powerful than others, the gods have set the scales in such a fashion as to hopefully make sure that this trope is averted.

person, so it won't be limited or biased by his own perspective.
* WeakButSkilled: Fate gets really annoyed that he's been placed in a death match, at the time when he's at his weakest, when even a few months earlier he would have been a force to be reckoned with at the end of a previous loop. He laments that he's got all the knowledge and experience he could ask for, but none of it will do him any good when he's as weak as regular Jaune and he's up against the likes of Knight, who are apparently in their prime.

While they all debate what could be going on, the Relic of Knowledge inexplicably bursts in the window and reveals Jinn, who has been given a new role by the Gods. She reveals the truth to them all: that the Gods tire of this stagnant war between Ozpin and Salem, and intend to force it to conclude through combat by champions. In interests of fairness, the main combatants will all be various incarnations of this one guy. Each one is connected to a specific person, an Anchor, and if that Anchor dies then their Jaune dies as well. The side who has the last Jaune standing will be granted victory by the Gods, and the other side will be wiped out. In addition, the last Jaune will be rewarded as well: the Gods will send him back to his world, and any one wish he has for his world, they will grant it. Now with the pieces set, the game is on, and Remnant itself hangs in the balance.

->''Impatient after thousands of years of stalemates between Ozma and Salem, the Brother Gods decide to intervene. A new contest, Ozma's side against Salem's, to decide Remnant's fate. A contest requires combatants however, and what better or fairer than to pit one man against himself – against alternate versions of himself. Jaune Arc against Jaune Arc, for the fate of all worlds.''
-->-- Website/FanFictionDotNet summary

Ruby Rose is woken up early one day by her friend Jaune Arc... or so she thinks at first. Wiping the sleep from her eyes, she realizes that not only is Jaune [[Fanfic/ForgedDestiny talking in an old-fashioned manner and wearing a full suit of regal armor, but has text floating above his head]]. Before she (or he, as he's almost as confused) can figure out more, Yang screams and kicks ''another'' Jaune Arc out of her bed, this one appearing to be [[Fanfic/TheUnseenHunt an unassuming civilian teenager]]. Shortly thereafter, Nora storms down to RWBY's dorm because the exact same thing just happened to JNPR, only for the group to be interrupted by Beacon's PA system telling both teams to bring Jaune Arc to the Headmaster's office.

All told, there ends up being six more Jaune Arcs than there should be. JNPR brought one [[Fanfic/NotThisTimeFate wearing a white jacket who looks really annoyed with what's happening]] and one [[FanFic/OrSomethingSeries who seems wary of the whole group wearing a green raincoat]]. In the office they arrive to find Team CFVY having brought in a Jaune Arc, [[Fanfic/ServiceWithASmile dressed like he slings coffee for a living]], and there's one more... [[Fanfic/FromBeyondRWBY who is apparently dead]].

While they all debate what could be going on, the Relic of Knowledge inexplicably bursts in the window and reveals Jinn, who has been given a new role by the Gods. She reveals the truth to them all: that the Gods tire of this stagnant war, and intend to force it to conclude through combat by champions. [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13983348/1/ Arc Royale]] is an IntraFranchiseCrossover by Creator/CoeurAlAran, bringing together the lead protagonists from many of his ''Franchise/{{RWBY}}'' fanfics. A noted and obvious inspiration for the scenario is the Franchise/FateSeries, though the specific rules of that series do not apply to this fic.

----
!! ''Arc Royale'' contains examples of:

* AccidentalPervert: Most of the heroes' Jaunes apparently appeared in the beds of their Anchors. Yang and CFVY immediately assume perverted things before they know more.
* BrokenPedestal: Pyrrha isn't sure what to make of Fate, who is ostensibly supposed to be the same person as the guy she admires, but immediately comes off like a sarcastic and caustic asshole, and who immediately runs off to get his dick wet rather than step up when he's needed.
* ConservationOfNinjutsu: Jinn isn't allowed to give information on the other side's Jaunes, beyond that this trope is in effect. The side with more Jaunes will get weaker Jaunes on average to keep things fair. How this holds up with one Jaune being literal dead weight isn't known.
* EpicFail: The Gods tried to bring Ghost Jaune and fittingly Anchor him to the comatose Amber... but he's already connected to a soul in his home setting, so what happens is his corpse is unceremoniously dropped on the floor in Beacon's basement, and the heroes are seemingly down one fighter right from the start.
* IHatePastMe: Fate gets the unique opportunity to tell his past self (regular Jaune) exactly what he thinks, and [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech he doesn't mince words]].
* NonActionGuy: Barista really doesn't know what he can contribute when it comes to a battle for the fate of the world, but everybody seems really stressed out, so he'll gladly make them some coffee.
* SeenItAll: Fate has this attitude, having lived and died through all kinds of shit for over a thousand years. Even ''he'' doesn't know how to respond to the things he learns in the first chapter, except with anger and frustration.
* WeAreNotGoingThroughThatAgain: Fate has already had more than enough of being jerked around by unfathomable cosmic beings playing games, and declares his intention to sit out this conflict.
