** Much like in canon, Sabrina's role in salt fics tends to revolve entirely around [[SatelliteCharacter her relationship with Chloé]]; if Chloé has a HeelFaceTurn and joins Marinette, she'll follow suit, and if Chloé doesn't, she'll remain by her side. Some fics do have her leave Chloé's side, only to end up in an equally (if not more so) toxic friendship with Lila; if these fics also redeem Chloé, then she'll probably lament the loss of Sabrina and maybe even acknowledge that her own poor treatment of the girl drove her into Lila's clutches. If Sabrina decides to burn bridges with Chloé for good, it usually requires the latter to do [[EveryoneHasStandards something extremely despicable even for her to stand]] (getting Sabrina's dad, Officer Roger Raincomprix, fired in "Lady Wi-Fi" is occasionally used as this point).

* Salt Fic Marinettes are prone at going full ''Literature/TheCountOfMonteCristo'' on her former friends, scheming revenge and building up an elaborate web of connections to people that Lila only lied of knowing, which she then rubs into the class's faces. Fics that accuse her awfulness point out that her revenge schemes are [[DisproportionateRetribution overkill next to being turned into the class loner]] and [[HeWhoFightsMonsters she has turned into the exact same monster Lila and Chloé are]].

* If Chloé isn't redeemed in a fic, she and Sabrina are usually made [[TeamSwitzerland the neutral faction]] in the conflict between Marinette and Lila, usually because Chloé hates both sides equally.

** Even in stories where there is no alternate universe/crossover approach, it's not unusual for the story to focus on one member of the cast that, in a moment of [[OnlySaneMan sanity]] (and [[EveryoneHasStandards standards]], if they were one of those to blame), takes one step back and sees that "Saltinette"'s new "[[TookALevelInJerkass life's a bitch, and so am I]]" approach has turned her into something worse than the people who torment her - at least with ''them'' [[WhoWatchesTheWatchmen there is Ladybug to stop them]].
* One popular method of deconstructing Salt Fics is by having Lila try and pull off a scheme that usually works out for her in that genre, only to be foiled by her targets having common sense and pointing out flaws in the story (even if this doesn't automatically reveal her true nature to them) -- e.g. pulling a WoundedGazelleGambit to frame someone, only for the class to realize that it would be OOC of whoever Lila's accusing to act that way.

For what it's worth, when he shows up, they downplay his cold and jerkish tendencies to be a somewhat nicer brother. To go along with that, the beta version of Marinette, who fans have decided to nickname "Bridgette" for mostly unknown reasons, also pops up in this kind of fanon, more often than not as Marinette's sister. Or to use those names for AlternateUniverse versions of Adrien and Marinette. [[spoiler:As of season 3, Félix is finally being brought into the show as Adrien's cousin - however the fact that, as Astruc's CreatorsPest, he gets a hefty dose of AdaptationalVillainy (read "HateSink/Lila's DistaffCounterpart"), stories written after the episode in which he isn't a villain need some amount of FanonDiscontinuity.]]

* After the reveal that Emilie Agreste used the Peacock Miraculous, plus a few hints in canon, there have been many stories where Adrien [[TomatoInTheMirror turns out to be a Sentimonster]], with his amok being hidden in one of his parents' wedding rings. On a similar topic, many stories have other wealthy children like Félix, Chloé, and/or Kagami be Sentimonsters as well, usually brought into existence via an alliance between their parents. [[spoiler: Canon would begin to explore this topic outright in late Season 5.]]

* There's a few salt fics that toss around the idea that there are [[TheChosenOne "true wielders"]] of the Miraculouses, usually wielders who end up the most attuned to their particular Miraculous and subsequently end up either getting a massive magical boost or just end up being perfect Guardian material. This usually comes up as yet another way to show that Marinette is better than the classmates that betrayed her; she'll get touted as the "true wielder" of the Ladybug Miraculous (or ''all'' the Miraculouses), while anyone who's against her that wielded a Miraculous in canon (especially Cat Noir) will be revealed to not be a "true wielder" and have their Miraculous stripped from them. Naturally, their replacements will end up being "true wielders" to further rub salt in the wound. It should be noted that [[BigBad Hawk Moth]], whom in canon is shown to be the last person who should have a Miraculous, is never affected by this development, with this exception being rarely, if ever, explained or even acknowledged.
** Some stories will reveal that non-"true wielders" that wield a Miraculous will suffer from some nasty side effects, usually SanitySlippage with a side of AxCrazy. This tends not to be explored outside of giving the author a ready-made excuse as to why they're applying RonTheDeathEater to Adrien.

** Rewrites of the episode in stories designed to [[AdaptationalHeroism make Chloé nicer]] (and even some that don't) usually remove her CompressedVice racism; if she still makes her "just make sushi" comment, it'll be quickly clarified that she just wants to have sushi over soup and [[InnocentlyInsensitive doesn't realize the implications of her comment]].

* Another common plot is to target her questionable actions as Ladybug. These usually treat her as a hypocritical ControlFreak who abuses Cat Noir regularly and expects him to follow all the rules she keeps breaking. Often, this is served up with a side of Master Fu salt, with him being depicted as favoring Ladybug over [[TheUnfavorite Cat Noir]] to the point of negligence.

*** There are also stories decrying his [[TheUnfavorite blatant lack of favoritism towards Adrien]], with him being called out for giving him the proverbial shaft and being vocally distrusted and giving Marinette all of the secrets. He also gets chewed out for never telling Marinette until it was too late to back out that [[spoiler:by taking the role of the Guardian of the Miraculous, he also forced into her the magical LeonineContract that if she ever went and quit, she would get LaserGuidedKarma of anything involving the Miraculous, which of course would be a tremendous amount of memories considering how much of her life currently revolves around them.]]
