** [[TricksterGod Discord]], the villain of the Season 2 premiere, was conceived after Lauren Faust had done an ArchiveBinge of ''Franchise/StarTrek'' and was very much modeled after [[Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration Q]]; the plans were originally to get a soundalike of Q's actor Creator/JohnDeLancie but they ended up getting de Lancie himself (turning it into an ActorAllusion as well). And the final cherry on top, is that whenever Discord and Baphomet (who is actually a sabbatic goat Deity), they are both similar in appearance since they both have horns, wings, heads of goats, and somewhat-humanoid appearances.

Most of these comparisons either don't seem to be authorial deliberate, or don't even make sense as comparisons. The only deliberate on is Kanan with Zatoichi, but that doesn't appear to be a sole inspiration. So none are Expies.

* ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels'':
** [[TheHero Ezra]] bears a clear resemblance to WesternAnimation/{{Aladdin}}, both physically and in character, but he's also reminiscent of early-stage Luke Skywalker with elements of [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender Aang]].
** The whole "small outlaw group in a tiny spaceship against massive government forces" resembles ''Series/{{Firefly}}'', particularly with [[TheBigGuy Zeb]] and Jayne.
** On the villain side, we have [[TheBrute the Inquisitor]], who basically takes [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender Admiral Zhao]]'s role. They even have the [[Creator/JasonIsaacs same voice actor]].
*** Zhao and the Inquisitor are, in turn, expies of Colonel Tavington from ''Film/ThePatriot''.
** Ezra's DarkerAndEdgier appearance and attitude showcased in Season 3 have drawn comparisons to [[VideoGame/TheForceUnleashed Galen Marek/"Starkiller"]], though Ezra is not nearly as intense as him.
** The similarities between Kanan and Rahm come from the fact that they're both Expies of [[spoiler: Film/{{Zatoichi}}]].
** Hera Syndulla is a [[GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe Twi'lek]] equivalent to [[VideoGame/DarkForcesSaga Jan Ors]], being a skilled pilot that is the partner/love interest of a Jedi. They even share a voice actress (Creator/VanessaMarshall).
** The pessimistic, deadpan protocol droid AP-5 is very similar to [[Franchise/TheHitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy Marvin the Paranoid Android]] (and Creator/StephenStanton modeled his performance on Creator/AlanRickman, who voiced Marvin in [[Film/TheHitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy2005 the movie]]).
** Both Kallus and the Inquisitor have been compared to Grand Admiral Thrawn. The former could be likened to a more up-close-and-personal version of Thrawn (and concept art indicates that Kallus was going to be a Chiss at one point), the later because he’s an alien that works for the xenophobic Empire and operates by way of AwesomenessByAnalysis. Interestingly, the actual Thrawn would later join the cast in Season 3, by which point [[spoiler:the Inquisitor has been dead for well over a year and Kallus has undergone a HeelFaceTurn]].

These cases don't really fall under the Expy trope; there is no clear deliberateness on the part of the author, and they do not have singular inspirations

* The Ice King from ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' sure has a lot of qualities compared to Dr. Two-Brains from ''WesternAnimation/WordGirl''.
** Both have an item on their head that turned them insane.
** Hair turned white and skin pigment changed upon going insane.
** Before their transformations, both had brown hair and bowties.
** Both have a photo of their original selves wearing a green sweater and appeared next to a woman.
** Voiced by Creator/TomKenny.

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Amphibia}}'': [[Characters/AmphibiaTheCore The Core]] sinister DemonicPossession of Marcy using a mask-like helmet, the PsychopathicManchild thought process as a result, EldritchAbomination vibes, ''extremely'' {{Sadist}}ic tendencies, and association with a [[ColonyDrop falling]] WeirdMoon bring to mind a mechanical [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask Majora's Mask]].

* ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'': Just as Philip Wittebane is a CorruptedCharacterCopy for [[WesternAnimation/GravityFalls Ford Pines]], [[Characters/TheOwlHouseTheCollector The Collector]] plays a similar role to [[BigBad Bill Cipher]]. A SealedEvilInACan who allies with a man who travels dimensions and offers knowledge in exchange for their freedom, is a PracticallyJoker villain, and it's implied that most of their actions is [[ItAmusedMe driven solely to satisfy their own sick amusement]]. The key difference is that The Collector is upfront with their plans and Belos, unlike Ford, doesn't care about the potential casualties as long as it helps in his own goals. They also have a much more amicable relationship, due to the lack of deception in their arrangement. "Edge of the World" reveals that he has a cult worshiping him, implying that like Bill, if he gains a physical form rather than an immaterial 2-D figure, he will become extremely powerful. Hilariously, one of his servants is named Bill. To make matters closer and ironic as well, it's the human, Belos, the one who deceives and betrays the stronger entity, Collector, having been using him like everyone else the Emperor manipulated; with the Collector even being the least evil of the two in terms of morality and intent.

** Jack Fenton is an Expy of Mr. Fantastic. Both are scientists and inventors who have made a portal to another dimension, have white streaks in their hair, and an archenemy who has been holding a grudge on them for years.
** Star is Veronica Star from ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'', all grown up. Same name? Check. Blonde? Check. Satellite to a non-white RichBitch? Check. A cheerleader? Check. The only major difference is that she is voiced by Tara Strong, not Grey [=DeLisle=].
** Tucker is an expy of Steve Urkel from ''Series/FamilyMatters'', only without the annoying nasal voice.
** The Guys In White are a pretty obvious expy/parody of the ''Film/MenInBlack'' comic/film series, replacing aliens with ghosts.
** [[TheJeeves Hobson]] from "Livin' Large" has the same job, appearance, personality, voice, and ''name'' as John Gielgud's character from ''Film/{{Arthur 1981}}''.
** Does Ember remind you of [[WesternAnimation/KaBlam another girl with blue hair in a ponytail, a short fuse, and a great singing voice?]]
** Dani Phantom is one to ComicBook/{{X 23}}, being female clones of a hero who were made by the Hero's enemy but ultimately sided with said Hero. For Dani's case it is Danny, for X-23, ComicBook/{{Wolverine}}.
** Franchise/HelloKitty: Sayonara Pussycat.

A SealedEvilInACan who allies with a man who travels dimensions and offers knowledge in exchange for their freedom, is a PracticallyJoker villain, and it's implied that most of their actions is [[ForLulz driven solely to satisfy their own sick amusement]].
