** With Generation V around the corner, the starters were revealed on various Pokemon sites. The Water-type starter for this generation, Mijumaru, vaguely resembles Piplup, the Water-type starter from the previous generation. *** Subverted when they both evolve. Piplup becomes an emperor, while Mijumaru becomes a samurai, and then [[spoiler: ends up reduced to being on all fours.]]
** The series as a whole has a ton of these, especially in the beinning of the games. Compare Rattata, Sentret, Zigzagoon, Bidoof, and (possibly) [[spoiler:Chillarmy]]. Also: Pidgey, Starly, and [[spoiler:Mamepato]]. Spearow, Tailow. Oh, and these guys!: Pikachu, Pichu (subverted by being a prevo), Plusle, Minun, Pachirisu, [[spoiler: Emonga]]. There's plenty more, but listing them all would take too much space.

** So, who is [[MassEffect Tali]] an expy of?

* [[KnightsOfTheOldRepublic Bastila]] is an Expy of [[NeverwinterNights Aribeth]]. Though she has far more character development and does things other than stand around angsting and FaceHeelTurn (though she does those too).

** Naoto looks almost exactly like the main character from ''{{Persona 3}}'', except that [[spoiler: s]]he wears a hat and that the right side of his [[spoiler: (really '''her''')]] face isn't covered in bangs. Naoto even twirls the gun [[spoiler: s]]he uses in battle, much like how the main character from Persona 3 does during a summoning sequence.
*** The hat along with the detective aspirations are a ShoutOut to [[{{RaidouKuzunohaVSTheSoullessArmy}} Raidou Kuzunoha]]. The line of Naoto's sideburns also closely resembles Raidou's.

* As for the female player characters in Pokemon, Lyra has received much hate from the fandom for being an expy of Kris--the heroine from Crystal. Some people have also noticed that Hilda looks like an older version of Leaf.

* ''DonkeyKong Jungle Beat'' did this on an epic scale to the characters from the DKC series, replacing Diddy Kong with The Helper Monkeys, Rambi with Hoofer, Enguarde with Orco, Squaks with the Helibirds and Flurl, amongst others. The fans of the Rareware games [[WallBanger were not amused]].

** The MostTriumphantExample of recycling designs from ''FinalFantasyII'' for ''FinalFantasyIV'' has to be [[http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080605221050/finalfantasy/images/9/95/Amano_Ricard.jpg Ricard]] and [[http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20061224091542/finalfantasy/images/4/46/Kainhighwind.jpg Kain]], both surnamed Highwind. ''Look at those pictures.'' What's more, a MythologyGag that's AllThereInTheManual is that [[FinalFantasyIV Kain's]] father is named Ricard...and [[FinalFantasyII Ricard's]] son is named Kain.

* In RuneScape, the sea slugs are all but a direct copy of the flood. They both latch onto their hosts (causing a visible physical change), they're both small (in the forms they use to infect others) and have tiny tentacles that they use to dig into their host's skin, they've both conquered other worlds in the past, and their respective leaders both look absolutely ''horrifying''.

*** To put it into perspective, what happened to Kerrigan was against her will and hated what she had become but nevertheless was ambitious, powerful and angry enough to embrace becoming the Queen Bitch of the Universe. Sylvanas was transformed against her will and she too hated what she became but could not embrace it, leading her to split from the Scourge and seeking her own path. Arthas was already ambitious and had a vengeful side to him that caused him to cross to the Scourge more or less willingly and embrace [[CompleteMonster what he became]], turning to the Lich King

* Sakuya could be considered an expy of Yumeko from ''MysticSquare'', the last of the first-generation ''{{Touhou}}'' games. Sure, her hair, eye, and clothing color are different and she lacks the [[TimeStandsStill timehax]], but for there to be two [[NinjaMaid knife-toting maids]] as stage 5 bosses and [[BattleButler Battle Butlers]] in two consecutive games is awfully suspicious. But then, [[IsntItSad the first-generation Touhou games seem to have been all but forgotten by the creator]].

**** There is one signficiant difference between the two, however. While neither of them suffer fools lightly, Cloud responds to annoying idiots and emotionally stressful situations by [[TheStoic clamming up]], whereas Lightning responds to the same by ''[[CrowningMomentOfAwesome punching somebody in the face]]''

** Actaully it seems that basically,Makoto is the sucessor to Jam.Whereas Litchi is the sucessor towards Millia in terms of playstyle/character.

*** Uh...no. If anything, ''Seth'' is the progenitor (even though he's from a later game).

*** Eh? Other than being seriously underdressed, not getting this. Pretty much just a typical ganguro a la K' who does Capoeira.

* Eboshidori, the first boss of ''{{Ikaruga}}'', looks like the [[{{Aliens}} Xenomorph Queen]].

* Grand Master Meio from ''{{Strider}}'' and Osmund Saddler from ''ResidentEvil 4'' both resemble the Emperor from ''StarWars'', and the latter even has a similar voice. The former has a Death Star-esque base.
