* Despite being barely featured in ''Film/ThorRagnarok''[='s=] prerelease advertising, RockMonster Korg quickly became Darryl Jacobson, Thor's roommate from the [[https://twitter.com/MarvelStudios/status/769927705651392513 Comic-Con video]]. Many fans are hoping that he'll be made canon.
* Most of the reviews have praised Valkyrie as
one of the best parts of the film, to the point where some even claim she overshadows the film's most popular characters, other new additions like Skurge and even Hela. The reaction was enough to give Tessa Thompson the courage to suggest to Kevin Feige that there could be a movie about herself, Black Widow, the Wasp, and Scarlet Witch teaming up, and a version of her to be made a pseudo-CanonImmigrant via the relaunch of ''[[ComicBook/Exiles2018 Exiles]]''. Thompson even received a UsefulNotes/{{BAFTA}} Rising Star nomination and a UsefulNotes/SaturnAward Best Supporting Actress nomination after her performance.
* To no one's particular surprise, The Grandmaster pretty much grabs the movie by the neck and runs away with it despite not having that big a role in the plot, since he's pretty much Creator/JeffGoldblum [[HarpoDoesSomethingFunny being Jeff Goldblum]].
* Heimdall retains this status from the previous films, and gets a beefier role this time to boot as [[spoiler: the man ''single-handedly'' protecting the Asgardian civilians from Hela's army.]]
* Skurge is this as much as the comics version was,
thanks to the movie adapting a version of his plethora of goofy lines delivered in iconic [[spoiler: [[HeroicSacrifice Last Stand at Gjallerbru,]] with a comically soft-spoken Kiwi accent.
great character arc leading to it that takes him from being a comedic buffoon to a tragically conflicted villain to a truly badass hero.]]
* [[RockMonster Korg]], an [[CloudCuckoolander eccentric]], [[GentleGiant good-natured]] would-be [[ManifestoMakingMalcontent revolutionary]] played by Creator/TaikaWaititi--what's not to love? His good friend Miek is also rather popular as well.

* Before she had even ''appeared yet'' (or even being ''cast'' yet), Mockingbird had gained a lot of hype after she was revealed to be joining ''Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.''. [[http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=poll&id=250 CBR's SDCC announcement poll]] has her announcement as the ''highest'' rated announcement of the second day, even beating Sam Raimi's ''Franchise/EvilDead'' TV series announcement, ''Series/TheWalkingDead'' season 5 trailer reveal, and ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy'' sequel announcements. She also dominated [[http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=poll&id=264 a later poll]] concerning new characters people are hyped for in the second season, with 46% of the votes going to her. When she ''does'' appear, this does not change. Going from Tumblr, in less than twenty minutes of the episode finishing people were posting their love for her character, even ones who never heard about her or what was such a big deal about her. The popularity only increased until she was PromotedToOpeningCredits. Like many other darkhorses, she was set to get her own spinoff. However, after being written out of ''Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'', her spinoff, ''Marvel’s Most Wanted'', was not picked up for a full season order, leaving the character essentially adrift.
* Skye's father [[spoiler:(Mr. Hyde of the Marvel Cinematic Universe)]]. Thanks to him being a complex, CreepyAwesome character and Kyle [=McLachlan=]'s magnificent performance, every time he appeared on screen, you can bet the review and comments will be gushing about him and place him as the best thing in the episode.
* Raina has got a lot of attention from fans to her AffablyEvil, AntiVillain and MonsterFanGirl status, with many praising Creator/RuthNegga's awesome performance. It's the point that in the 5th episode was renamed to 'Girl in the Flower Dress' from 'Scorch' because even the creators like her. Plans to kill her off early were also put aside, letting her return for Season 2 [[spoiler:and become an Inhuman.]]
* Ghost Rider follows in the pattern of characters who previously got disappointing film adaptations having far more success within the MCU. The decision to make him the Robert Reyes incarnation rather than the better known Johnny Blaze adds some much-appreciated diversity among the superheroes, and the SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome that are pulled off on a TV budget are jaw-dropping.
