* Pull is once again a dump stat in ''VideoGame/MassEffect3'' since Liara is now available with the much better Singularity for levitating enemies, as well as the availability of Lash which works on armored targets too. Its primary benefit - yanking shields off Cerberus Guardians - can be obtained with just one rank in it.
* All the Power Cell consuming Combat abilities in ''VideoGame/MassEffectAndromeda'' get dumped due to the requiring the use of power cells, which aren't as easily available as ammo is, and you cannot carry a lot of them anyway. So you may get barely 3-4 uses of that ability before you have to scramble for more power cells.

* ''VideoGame/IcewindDale'' puts a much heavier focus on combat than its sister game, Baldur's Gate, and as a result Wisdom and Charisma become even more niche than before. Wisdom is only important on Druids and Clerics and Charisma isn't really worthwhile at all outside of classes that require it (Druid, Bard and Paladin). The game does subtly encourage you to have at least one of those on your team though, as they all get unique dialog options (and experience opportunities) that other classes do not.

** A snag that can occur with some Pokémon is that their movepools (a list of moves that a Pokémon is able to learn) don't work well with the base stats that the species have. This could change if the Pokémon can evolve into another more powerful form (For example, Larvesta has a higher Attack stat, but it evolves into Volcarona, who has a really strong Special Attack stat), but some aren't as lucky as they're forced to fight left-handed while letting their higher stat go to waste.

** A snag that can occur with some Pokémon is that their movepools (a list of moves that a Pokémon is able to learn) don't work well with the base stats that the species have. A Pokémon whose physical attack stat is much higher than its special attack might be stuck with a movepool of predominantly special moves or vice versa. This could change if the Pokémon can evolve into another more powerful form (For example, Larvesta has a higher Attack stat, but it evolves into Volcarona, who has a really strong Special Attack stat), but some aren't as lucky as they're forced to fight left-handed while letting their higher stat go to waste.waste.
*** This was an especially prominent problem for some Pokémon in the first three generations when attacks were classified as physical or special according to the attack's type, meaning several Pokémon were left with stats oriented in favor of the wrong attack stat for their type (such as a physical attack oriented Water type or a special attack oriented Fighting type). This would be mostly fixed from Generation 4 onwards, where attacks are now classified as physical or special depending on the attack itself rather than its type, so most Pokémon now have at least one viable move for their type that uses their higher attack stat.

** ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsIII'' does this as well, but it also offers a choice between Vitality(increases max HP but lowers max MP), Wisdom(vice versa), or Balance(neither). On Critical Mode, Vitality is very much this trope as you will still be a GlassCannon that dies in one or two hits, while the [[ScrappyMechanic nerf to your max MP in that Mode]] makes it all the better to choose Wisdom and give yourself as much MP to use as possible.

** The Tank OS upgrade zig-zags this. 5 extra HP is pretty useless on Easy or Normal difficulty and still not great on Hard. But on Impossible, where you start with 10 HP at 1 END, one hit from a basic Hybrid will kill you and every Cyber Module expense costs 80% more than normal, suddenly having 5 more HP for basically free is a very valuable option.
