The game will follow the standard X-COM formula, with a Geoscape view, [[DoingResearch heavy amounts of research and engineering]], and squad-based ground missions. Interception sequences would be in turn-based combat, while, like in the VideoGame/UFOAfterblank games, soldier-based missions are in RealTimeWithPause. There is also a class-based combat system, a EnemyCivilWar between the five main enemy factions, an AllianceMeter with various [[MegaCorp Mega Corps]], battles against a ApocalypseCult and the MenInBlack, a more complex story with story arcs, the ability to both make and take requests from governments for resources, and battles in space, underwater and in AnotherDimension.

Because they have access to stolen alien [[WaveMotionGun warp technology]], which has been adapted to heal wounds by [[UpToEleven warping the space the wound is in to cause cells to begin regenerating at a rapid rate, even causing new ones to develop in proper patterns to reform limbs]]. Of course, this still requires several days in non-stop warp treatment, and the technology can't be adapted into handheld medkits until sufficient breakthroughs in the technology are reached.

* RuleOfCool: [[MoreDakka Gigantic ten-barrel miniguns that can collapsed and carried around by soldiers before being immediately redeployed to shred enemies apart with hundreds of little plasma balls shot per second]]? The Humans, on the other hand, make them into [[{{BFG}} Launchers and Tank-Mounted Weapons]], and then later into [[ImprobableWeaponUser shields]], [[MoreDakka gatling guns]], and even [[UpToEleven MEDKITS]]!

This can cripple even the otherwise scarily accurate [[EliteMooks Vectorons and Selenite Elites]] into being unable to shoot straight, and [[DemonicSpiders Anterras and Z-Soldiers]] into barely being able to move. Robots, Shamblers and psionic enemies are immune, though.

** The in-game News Reports depict a grim picture of the world as panic starts to rise. Economic collapse, unchecked rioting, destroyed infrastructure, and starvation become common reports later in the game.

* CiaEvilFbiGood: Inverted. Amongst the DividedStatesOfAmerica, the FBI is on the side of the [[DirtyCommunists Western]] [[PoliticalCorrectnessGoneMad States]], who are undeniably evil. Meanwhile, the CIA is siding with the [[KnightTemplar Northern]] [[UnscrupulousHero States]].

** Even before the AlienInvasion, Earth was this. America has [[DividedStatesOfAmerica divided]] between the [[KnightTemplar Northern]] [[UnscrupulousHero States]], [[PoliticallyIncorrectVillain Southern]] [[RightWingMilitiaFanatic States]] and [[DirtyCommunists Western]] [[PoliticalCorrectnessGoneMad States]], and is in the midst of the Second American Civil War, which has only calmed down a bit by the invasion. Britain and Japan are both conspiring to TakeOverTheWorld, having already conquered the majority of Europe and Asia respectively. Russia has become OneNationUnderCopyright, and Africa has become a bunch of PrivateMilitaryContractors, sending out massive amounts of untrained civilians to fight for the highest bidder since [[WeHaveReserves they have a lot of people]]. Oceania has managed to stay together, but has suffered a massive economic and technological collapse, with many people being reduced to farmers and hunter-gatherers against [[EverythingTryingToKillYou the wildlife of Oceania]]. Pretty much the best place to live is Antarctica, which now has a populace of just over 10,000 people - and, well, it's [[DeathWorld Antarctica]].

* FallenStatesOfAmerica: The US has essentially collapsed and divided into three sub-sections, with Canada, Mexico and the New British Empire have annexed the remaining states that haven't formed one of the three territories. These territories consist of the Western States of America (California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana), the Northern States of America (Washington D.C., Virginia, Wisconsin, Iowa, Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, Illnois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio), and the Southern States of America (New Mexico, Arizona, Missipi, Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Carolina and Hawaii). The Western States have embraced PoliticalCorrectnessGoneMad and California has become a black-supremacist matriarchy dominated by a corrupt government, while Idaho has become a [[UsefulNotes/{{Mormonism}} Mormon]] [[TheTheocracy theocracy]]. New Mexico, Arizona, Alabam, Georgia and Carolina have formed a new [[DeepSouth Confederate Alliance]], while Hawaii has gone back to native rule. [[HollywoodNewEngland New England]] has become the sole TruceZone for the SecondAmericanCivilWar, and Amsterdam [[FreestateAmsterdam has split off to become its own micronation]]. The war between the Western, Northan and Southern States is still on-going even in the midst of the AlienInvasion, and the entire country has become little more than a joke around the world, with even former third world nations being several times richer than the entire country. Cities from coast to coast have been reduced to bomb-shattered slums filled with people constantly fighting in the streets over anything they can get their hands on, and any attempts at trying to form reunification have been met with mockery by the people.

* AbnormalAmmo: A lot is used for certain weapons. Crystal shards, giant blood cells, "bluescreen" EMP tech, poison, tree sap...
