In a small city, a new game store has opened up, known as Unlimited Universe. The store is run by an old man, who has it [[TitleDrop closed from dawn until dark]], and the store sells only roleplay games. A day after the store opens, a couple of kids are discovered dead in front of their game, all killed with no explanation to how they died. Although the causes of death are all discovered, there is no logical explanation of their deaths, and on top of everything, it is discovered that each of the three kids were holding a card from the game they played that explained traps, the traps that were described each had a manner which could cause the death of the kids. However, due the ludicrous nature of a game being able to cause the death of a person, the notion is abandoned and everyone proceeds with life normally.

A few days later, we are introduced to the main character, Akarui Meisei. He is a very awkward person who doesn't seem to get other people, but he is a master at board games, able to fully understand people when playing board games with them. Having made a few friends through to playing board games a few months earlier, Akarui had formed an after-school club that plays board games three weeks before the store's opening, the main purpose of the club being to draw people into friendships.

He and three of his friends sit down to play the same game that was involved in the murder case. During the game, one of them draws a card, which reads that they are to [[ArcWords Prove Their Worth]].
