-->"I have felt your restlessness, Selene. That part of you that was born of Sesqua's shadow is growing dormant; and that other portion, spawned beyond the cosmic chaos, is flexing its vibrant muscle. The star-stuff that forms so much a part of your being longs for home. It calls to you as you have, just this afternoon, summoned it. You ache to sit with your Elder Sibling beside the entropic throne of Ultimate Disorder. The Boundless One scents you, and calls you. The universe sizzles with the waves of his dreaming. Psychic activity has increased with supernatural alacrity, here in this valley and - I feel it in my old bones - throughout this haunted globe."

!! Tropes found in Pugmire's works include:

* BlueAndOrangeMorality: All over the place. Many of the stories are set from a Sesquan point of view, in which humans are insignificant in the face of cosmic vastness and eldritch magick.
* CampbellCountry: Pugmire lives in Seattle and his Sesqua Valley is set near Washington's Mt. Si.
* CampGay: The author himself.
* CosmicHorrorStory: Though much more subdued and elegant than the usual.
* EldritchAbomination: Many references are made to familiar Lovecraftian monsters.
* EldritchLocation: Sesqua Valley is only visible to people with the right mindset and has a lot of mind-bending properties. There are also a lot of extradimensional and otherworldly pockets that characters stumble across, accidentally summon, or are driven mad by.
* EveryoneIsGay: WordOfGod is that everyone in Sesqua Valley is LGBT, although he tries to be subtle about it.
* FairFolk: The natives of Sesqua Valley have many similarities to traditional fairies, especially in their relationships with humans.
* HumanoidAbomination: Nyarlathotep is Pugmire's favorite character and is the subject of a whole book. There's also a recurring character named Selene, who is some sort of sister to Nyarlathotep, and appears as a woman with near-black skin and flowing red hair.
-->"I have felt your restlessness, Selene. That part of you that was born of Sesqua's shadow is growing dormant; and that other portion, spawned beyond the cosmic chaos, is flexing its vibrant muscle. * TakenForGranite: Happens to one hapless outsider in ''The Fungal Stain'' (it's actually on the cover of the book).
* TomeOfEldritchLore: Sesqua Valley has a whole library of these. Also many references to the Necronomicon.
