Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is an American comic book writer, playwright, screenwriter, and producer.

He began his career in drama and playwriting, creating several small-scale theater productions. From here he -- a self-described longtime comic book fan -- was recruited to write for Creator/MarvelComics, penning for ''ComicBook/{{Nightcrawler}}'', ''ComicBook/SpiderMan'', and the ''ComicBook/FantasticFour'' among other characters.

In 2013, he wrote ''ComicBook/AfterlifeWithArchie'', which led to him being named Chief Creative Officer at Creator/ArchieComics. He was the showrunner behind ''Series/{{Riverdale}}'' and its spinoffs.

Aguirre-Sacasa is of Nicaraguan descent and openly gay.

----
!!Tropes in his works:

* DarkerAndEdgier: His works for ComicBook/ArchieComics deliberately contrast the franchise's wholesome all-American image. ''ComicBook/AfterlifeWithArchie'' and ''ComicBook/ChillingAdventuresOfSabrina'' turn to supernatural horror, while ''Series/{{Riverdale}}'' features several adult topics faced by the characters.
* WritingAroundTrademarks: An early play of Aguirre-Sacasa's was titled ''Archie's Weird Fantasy'' and featured ComicBook/ArchieComics characters before being hit with a cease-and-desist. It was later retitled ''Weird Comic Book Fantasy'' with names swapped. Ironically, Aguirre-Sacasa would later go on to become one of the chief minds at Archie.
