Joe Black, (6 May 1918 -- 12 August 1999), was a British actor best known for playing Garstang in ''Series/ComeBackMrsNoah''.
His parents worked on stage as a variety double act. Black followed in their footsteps, and in 1932 began appearing onstage as a music hall comedian. In 1973, he made his first appearance on TV, playing a driver in an episode of ''Series/{{Emmerdale}}''.
He followed his ''Emmerdale'' appearance with minor roles in ''Red Letter Day'' and ''Series/TheNewAvengers'' in 1976. In 1977, he appeared in the {{Pilot}} of ''Come Back Mrs. Noah'' and stuck with the series when it ran for five more episodes in 1978, playing [[ButtMonkey Garstang]], who changes the lightbulbs onboard the ''Britannia Seven''.
After ''Come Back Mrs. Noah'' came to an end, Black played guest roles in ''Oh No, It's Selwyn Froggitt'' and ''Series/CoronationStreet'', before playing Harvey in almost every episode of the {{Dramedy}} ''Shillingbury Tales''. Black went on to only play minor roles for the rest of The80s, appearing in series such as ''In Loving Memory'', ''Series/ScreenTwo'', and ''The Kenny Everett Television Show''. His final acting role came in the 1991 miniseries ''Ashenden''.
He died at the age of 81.
