Dan Slott is a prolific and well known comic book writer, with a [[ComicBook/DanSlottSpiderMan eight-year-long run]] on ''ComicBook/SpiderMan'' (the longest of any writer) and well regarded runs on ''ComicBook/SheHulk'', ''ComicBook/SilverSurfer'', ''ComicBook/AvengersTheInitiative'', and ''ComicBook/TheThing''.
Slott got his start writing children's comics like ''Mighty Mouse'', ''Ren & Stimpy'', ''Scooby-Doo'', ''Looney Tunes'', and ''Powerpuff Girls''. His first real superhero comic series was a mini-series in DC called ''ComicBook/ArkhamAsylumLivingHell''. This, in turn, led to him being hired by Marvel in 2004 for a new ''She-Hulk'' series where Slott had her join the OccultLawFirm of Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway.
In 2007, he left ''She-Hulk'' to become one of the four main writers on ''Amazing Spider-Man''. Beginning in 2010, he would become the ''sole'' writer for the book and remain the sole writer all the way until 2018. Slott's run contained a lot of defining moments for Spider-Man, including ''ComicBook/SpiderIsland'' (where everyone on Manhattan suddenly gained spider powers), ''ComicBook/SuperiorSpiderMan'' (where Doctor Octopus, having switched bodies with Peter and killed him, tries to become a better hero than Spider-Man), and ''ComicBook/SpiderVerse'' (where Peter teamed up with a bunch of alternate universe Spider-People and was the basis for ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManIntoTheSpiderVerse''). His last storyline for the webhead was ''ComicBook/GoDownSwinging''.
In 2016, Slott and Mike Allred won an Eisner Award for ''Silver Surfer'' #11. Their ''Silver Surfer'' series was praised for being fun and new, while also appearing quite similar to a certain [[Series/DoctorWho time-traveling doctor and his companion]].
In 2018, Slott started runs on both ''ComicBook/FantasticFour'' (returning after a couple of years on hiatus) and ''[[ComicBook/IronMan Tony Stark: Iron Man]]''. He wrapped up his ''Iron Man'' run in 2020 with ''ComicBook/IronMan2020''.
