In 1990, he joined the cast of ''Series/OneFootInTheGrave'' for its second series as Patrick Trench, neighbour and nemesis of [[GrumpyOldMan Victor Meldrew]]; Deayton remained with the series for the rest of its run. While Patrick and Victor loathed one another, Deayton and Creator/RichardWilson were [[FriendshipOnTheSet great friends off-screen]], with Wilson even becoming the godfather to Deayton's son.

Angus Deayton, born Gordon Angus Deayton, (6 January 1956), is a British actor best known for playing Mike Channel ([[ActingForTwo among others]]) in ''Series/{{KYTV}}'' and Patrick Trench in ''Series/OneFootInTheGrave''.

In 1978, he joined the Oxford Revue and appeared with them at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Early in his career, Deayton co-wrote and provided voices for ''Radio Active'', and stayed with the series when it made the jump to television as ''KYTV'', playing Mike Channel in both.

In 1990, he joined the cast of ''One Foot in the Grave'' for its second series as Patrick Trench, neighbour and nemesis of [[GrumpyOldMan Victor Meldrew]]; Deayton remained with the series for the rest of its run. While Patrick and Victor loathed one another, Deayton and Creator/RichardWilson were [[FriendshipOnTheSet great friends off-screen]], with Wilson even becoming the godfather to Deayton's son.

The same year as he joined ''One Foot'', Deayton became the host of ''Series/HaveIGotNewsForYou''. Deayton hosted until he was sacked in 2002, due to controversy rising after ''[[UsefulNotes/BritishNewspapers News of the World]]'' reported that he had [[RoleEndingMisdemeanor done cocaine and had sex with prostitutes]]. After starring in ''Series/NightyNight'' as Don Cole, Deayton returned to hosting, doing so in ''Series/WouldILieToYou'' and ''Series/HellsKitchen'', both from 2007 to 2009.
