* ''Webcomic/SleeplessDomain'': Zoe is introduced as having only recently become a magical girl and being harassed because she attends the school designed for magical girls despite not being an active monster fighter herself, which is seen as benefiting from the school's perks while not earning them. Zoe confesses to Undine that she hasn't fought yet because she's afraid. We later learn, however, that while Zoe hasn't been fighting, she ''has'' been venturing out at night and observing others fight without doing so herself. She finally jumps into the fray to save Rue, an independent magical girl, from being killed. Both Undine and Rue assure Zoe that there's nothing wrong with being afraid; Undine tells her that she shouldn't fight unless ''she'' wishes to, while Rue points out that even if Zoe never fought again in her life, she saved one person's life. Zoe resolves to become stronger and fight after Undine rescues members of her family who would have died otherwise, and partners up with Rue.

* ''WebComic/StandStillStaySilent'': Onni Hotakainen has shades of this. Onni is a former scout/mage who no longer scouts because he [[NoodleIncident for some reason]] was overcome by his fears of the monsters in the woods (being PromotedToParent for his little sister and cousin may have been a contributing factor too). When the comic rolls around, he hasn't been outside the walls of his home settlement in years. However, Onni is still a mage, and has absolutely no problem with challenging even very powerful spirits in the Spirit realm.

* Tyler Marlocke (aka, Moon Shadow) of ''Webcomic/{{PS238}}'' is always willing to point out how scared he is in any given situation. This does not stop him from advancing towards sources of danger to help people out. For just one example, he once jumped off of a hovering airplane to save a friend who had just been hit by a PowerNullifier. His mentor, The Revenant, was listening and noted his computer was able to tell the precise height that Tyler jumped from based solely on his screams of fear.

* Zergarem the Destroyer from ''Webcomic/CwensQuest'' seems to be [[http://www.drunkduck.com/Cwens_Quest/index.php?p=529280 rather cowardly]], possibly justified as previously he was nearly killed before a [[http://www.drunkduck.com/Cwens_Quest/index.php?p=486124 timely surrender]] saved his life.

* The rock-crabs, from ''Webcomic/{{Vexxarr}}'', are a species that do not eat (they feed on energy gradients), lives in terror of the predators in their native enviroment, and have trouble understanding that other species ever do anything other than running or hiding from danger. Don\'t revert this page please! It\'s St. Fan\'s fault for abusing Example Identation, renaming work page\'s headers as the more generic \"[Title] provides examples of the following tropes\", removing punctuation marks, and accusing me of \"vandalism\" when I\'m trying to fix the pages he butchered! I can\'t believe you\'re okay with his third rate sorting, just suspend HIM already!
