They gain bonus points for actually being [[http://www.eluniversal.com.mx/sociedad/2015/prototipo-avion-desarrollado-oaxaca-1096028.html reproducible]] in RealLife, unlikd pretty much any other craft on this list!

* The VF-2 family, despite not being featured as prominently as the original Valkyrie was in it's owm series (in fact, Anime/MacrossII featured the ''least'' focus on combat until Anime/MacrossDelta), is more than a worthy successor to the VF-1, even if it is not canon. It comes in two basic varieties:

Compared to the [=VF2-SS=], it doesn't carry as much armaments, but it isn't absolutely helpless without an add-on pack either. The pack has 54 micromissiles, 6 long range missiles (which are all, naturally, launched in an [[MacrossMissileMassacre Itano Circus]]), a long range plasma railgun, a short range plasma railgun and ''bits''. Yes, bits, as in [[Franchise/{{Gundam}}]] AttackDrone bits, something no other Macross series has attempted since.

'''2009''', the same year SDF Macross actually takes place chronology wise.
