* Charlotte Linlin AKA Big Mom used to be this to Kaidou during his early pirate career. When Kaidou joined the Rocks Pirates at the age of 15, the 24-year old Lilin immediately offered to him of becoming his confidant on the ship. She's also the one who obtained for Kaidou his Devil Fruit six years later. In the present, the two of them have become equals as two of the reigning Yonkous [[spoiler:until their defeat]], although the way they talk to each other is still the same as during the days of the Rocks Pirates, with Big Mom calling Kaidou "brat", and Kaidou calling Big Mom "old hag".

* ''Literature/ACertainMagicalIndex'':
** Touma apparently has a fetish for Cool Big Sis types, though he tries to keep it quiet. Kaori is the only one in his UnwantedHarem who would fit the type, and even that's a little bit of a stretch (she's the Cool Big Sis to some of his haremettes, but not to Touma).
** Fukiyose Seiri is good at depicting this image. She's also hijacked the role of ClassRepresentative on a number of occasions.
** Shizuri Mugino acts as one to the other members of Team ITEM, but she's also AxCrazy and wouldn't think twice about killing them before her HeelFaceTurn.

* Melissa Mao from ''Literature/FullMetalPanic''. She mentions the trope almost by name in ''The Second Raid'' when she confronts Sousuke about [[HeroicBSOD spacing out in the middle of a mission]]. Not to mention that Kurz calls her "Sis."

* Aoi Kimi of ''Literature/HorizonInTheMiddleOfNowhere''. As the protagonist's slightly older sister, she's about the same age as most of the rest of the main cast, but definitely plays TeamMom. She's also a flamboyant pervert.
* ''Literature/IfHerFlagBreaks'': Kikuno is Souta's self-declared big sister, so she does sisterly things for him, such as making him lunches, giving him advice, and being a little too affectionate sometimes. She also acts like a big sister figure to the rest of the cast.

* Lucoa from ''Manga/MissKobayashisDragonMaid'' acts as one to Tohru... when she isn't undercutting her dignity by acting like a creepy pedophile. Tohru used to act as one for Kanna, but their current dynamic has shades of PromotionToParent (though Kanna strictly views her as an older sister).
* Anehara Misa in ''Literature/ModernMagicMadeSimple''.

* ''Literature/MyNextLifeAsAVillainessAllRoutesLeadToDoom'': Catarina attempts to be this to her adoptive brother Keith, partly because she wants a better ending[[note]]In the original ''Fortune Lover'' otome game, Catarina's abusive behavior lead to Keith either killing her with magic or forcing her into exile[[/note]] and partly because she always wanted a little brother [[{{Reincarnation}} in her original life]]. While she qualifies during their childhood, by the time they're teenagers the level-headed and responsible Keith has become her CloudcuckoolandersMinder... and [[BigBrotherAttraction he's nursing an attraction to her]].

* ''Literature/RebuildWorld'':
** Shizuka takes the role of a positive mentor figure in Akira's life. Unlike Alpha, who is manipulating him for her ends, Shizuka genuinely wishes the best for Akira, frets over him when she hears that he's done something dangerous, and does her best to make sure he's properly equipped to survive in the wastelands. Her opinion of him only grows after learning that he saved her friends Sara and Elena. There is some significant overlap with the TeamMom role she plays for the three.
** The BrainsAndBrawn HeterosexualLifePartners Elena and Sara are a more straightforward match for the trope, each being like a BigSisterMentor but also teasing Akira extensively. Unlike Shizuka, Akira sees the two as his respected seniors he's trying to catch up to, a line of thinking he holds onto even after exceeding them in hunter rank.
** A more moderate dynamic develops between the Sheryl and the older Carol. Sheryl sees Carol like someone intimidating who she has to catch up to, despite a bad first impression. Carol clearly likes Sheryl, has fun teasing her, and helps her, realizing how important she is for Akira, although Akira repeatedly assigning Carol to protect Sheryl is somewhat disheartening for both.

* ''Literature/ScrappedPrincess'': While Pacifica looks to both her adopted siblings for protection, Racquel is the one she turns to when needs someone to confide in. At one point, she even tells Racquel that she had hoped to be as good a big sister to Cz[[note]]who was revealed to be a Peacemaker and reverted to her true form against her will, by Styer[[/note]] as Racquel was to her and Shannon, who shares Pacifica's sentiment. Near the end, [[ManlyTears when he finally breaks down in tears]][[note]]after returning from the final battle with the Peacemakers, with Pacifica [[BackFromTheDead having come back to life]][[/note]], Racquel provides him with a shoulder to cry on.

* Two aversions in ''Literature/{{Slayers}}''; While Lina is the first to admit (in the manga) that her older sister Luna is "really cool" she's also terrified of her [[NoodleIncident due to some unfortunate events during their childhood ]] ([[SubvertedTrope not that Lina didn't deserve it]]). (Lina is so scared of Luna that near the end of Slayer's Try she actually says (entirely without irony) that she has to save the universe because otherwise "my big sister is gonna kill me.") Amelia's older sister Gracia [[spoiler:AKA [[GoldfishPoopGang Naga the White Serpent]]]] did teach her some magic (per WordOfGod) but she also ran away after witnessing the horrifically bloody assassination of their mother. Amelia hasn't met her since, and (in the novels at least) misses her terribly.
