* GoshDangItToHeck: Taken to odd lengths at times. While "Holy cow!" is a fairly common expression, things like "What the cow?!" or "Oh my cow!" aren't. Bucky tends to use ComicStrip/{{Garfield}} in these cases.

* DogsAreDumb: Poor Satchel. He's so dumb [[UpToEleven he doesn't know what a loser is]], so when Bucky makes [[Series/{{Glee}} the L sign]] he thinks he's being called a [[strike: unicorn]] "losercorn".

* ComicallyMissingThePoint: During an early 2012 series of strips where Bucky tried presenting his greatest idea to Rob and Satchel, the "Buckcord" (which is actually a fork with an electric cord taped to it), Rob tries telling Bucky that forks and electricity do not mix. Naturally, Bucky then tells Rob that he came up with a [[SarcasmMode safe]] way for kids to handle the Buckcord, by presenting a child-safe outlet to stick the Buckcord into, which actually turns out to be [[WhatAnIdiot a toaster]].

** Tuna for Bucky. [[EverythingsBetterWithMonkeys Monkeys]] would also be among his favorites, if he could ever succeed in eating one.

* EverythingsBetterWithMonkeys: Monkeys are an obsession (and would-be TrademarkFavoriteFood) for Bucky.

* MixedAncestry: Satchel. His parents are a purebred Shar Pei and a Labrador, and he doesn't understand why he can't be a showdog.

* RealityEnsues: Rob's mom tries to make her cat go [[VegetarianCarnivore vegetarian]]. Said cat is miserable and unhealthy as a result.

** One strip had Bucky using a [[BrandX knock-off]] Super-Soaker. The toy was labeled "La Super Doucher."
** When Cousin Willie returns home from his tour of duty in Iraq, his reaction to Dunkin Donuts no longer making crullers, "Really? How the hell long was I over there?" is left completely uncensored.
** In [[http://www.gocomics.com/getfuzzy/2016/01/04 this strip]] Satche uses the Swedish swear "jävlar," which is as bad by Swedish standards as "shit" is by American ones.
** Bucky: "Hey, Tiger Woods doesn't wash his own balls."

* DeliveryNotDesired: Satchel writes a letter to Ray Charles, thanking him for this music, because listening to it makes him happy. Rob then takes Satchel to the edge of a cliff overlooking water for him to mail it by folding it into a paper plane and sending it into the air.

Starting in 2011, the strip slowly transitioned from a daily strip into a [[SundayStrip Sunday-only strip]], although no official statement was ever made about this. As of 2013, the weekday strips consist only of reruns. [[WordOfDante According to Stephan Pastis]], Conley has been taking several breaks from the strip due to "personal reasons".
