** A team consisting primarily of younger superheroes who get their funds from reality television. Sounds [[ComicBook/NewWarriors oddly familiar]]. Let's hope it doesn't lead to a ComicBook/CivilWar like last time.

* AbortedArc: ''Hawkeye'', which precedes this comic chronologically, has Kate's mother imply that her daughter may have dormant superpowers despite Madame Masque failing to find any in her. Kate doesn't develop any powers in this comic, suggesting that her mother may have lied just to keep Masque from killing her daughter a little while longer.

* StealthSequel: In addition to carrying the name of the classic ''West Coast Avengers'', it could also be seen as a continuation of ''ComicBook/HawkeyeKateBishop'' (picking up where that series left off, and Kate is the overall main character).

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Mikka, Ramone's girlfriend in ''Hawkeye: Kate Bishop'', makes a brief cameo in Issue #1 and then is never seen again, apparently to move her out of the way for Ramone's following relationship with America.

* RevelingInTheNewForm: After moving to Los Angeles and assuming a handsome human form, the villainous M.O.D.O.K. attempted to hit on women but most were turned down by his obnoxious attitude. Seeking revenge, he kidnapped them and turned them into enormous {{kaiju}} and unleashed them to rampage through the city. The West Coast Avengers restore their sanity and change most of them back, but one woman asks to stay as an enormous dragon, as she genuinely prefers being a huge reptile as opposed to being catcalled all the time in human form. Kate Bishop allows it so long as the dragon lady promises to not eat any people and cause wanton destruction.

** Also to the Gillen[=/McKelvie=] ''ComicBook/YoungAvengers'', with two of the same core team members (America Chavez and Kate Bishop) and a similar focus on teen heroes and flattering depiction of youth culture. [[spoiler:Noh-Varr/Marvel Boy comes in #6, and an ending joke with Kate in #10 ("Is no one I've dated straight?") resembles an ending joke ("Am I the only one on this team who's straight?") in YA #15.]]
