''Supergirl's Greatest Challenge'' is a ''ComicBook/{{Supergirl}}''/''ComicBook/LegionOfSuperHeroes'' story published in ''ComicBook/ActionComics'' #287 (April, 1962). It was authored by [[Creator/JerrySiegelAndJoeShuster Jerry Siegel]] and Creator/JimMooney.
Linda Danvers/Kara Zor-El is dealing with her present-day problems when she receives an emergency call of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Upon arriving in the 30th century, Supergirl is informed that a planet-destroying EldritchAbomination (called Positive Man by the Legion due to its human-like energy body being composed of positive ions) is heading towards Earth with the intent to wipe the planet out.
Kara manages to stop the monster, but the Legionnaires have been suddenly and mysteriously depowered, a misfortune that they blame on radiation fallout caused by the destruction of the creature's energy body. Whatever the case may be, nobody can know the Legion has become powerless, so Supergirl comes up with the idea to cover up for her teammates until they get their powers back.
Supergirl begins following several Legionnaires around, using her powers to solve their cases behind the scenes. Unfortunately, Kara does not realize what her friends have been sneakily repaced by pretenders who are setting a trap for her. And if she is not capable of springing out of it, the Legion and the world will be doomed.
