Added DiffLines:

* BetterManhandleTheMurderWeapon: Largo picks up a climbing axe, just used to kill someone, and is more or less immediately caught by police who see him with it (it is, of course, a setup). While it's clearly indicated he did so for his own defense (he hears something and is meaning to chase the noise), it's made more painful by the fact that it's a wintery area, he was wearing gloves, and he only took the glove off of ''one'' of his hands so he could check the pulse of the victim...and of course, that's the same hand that picks up the climbing axe.

Added DiffLines:

* DeuxExMachina: A small example. Largo has been arrested, the police are driving him through wintery mountains...and a deer runs in front of their car as they're distracted talking to Largo, causing them to crash and go off road, allowing Largo to immediately escape.

* ExtremelyShortTimespan: Cochrane is [[spoiler: arrested in a frame up]] at the very end of the ''Golden Gate'' story, and by the start of the next book, ''Shadow'', has already been convicted and imprisoned. Nothing indicates that all that long has passed, especially since if the months/years such a case would take to play out (he's arrested in the States, and it's seemingly a financial crime), actually did [[spoiler: a female hostage would likely be long dead, for one reason or another]]. Then again, it's not the only error: [[Spoiler: Largo is being kept in the same prison due to his own frame up tied to Cochrane's, but he's released on bail at the start of ''Shadow'', suggesting that this might have just taken DAYS considering how the bail process tends to work if you have access to billions of dollars. Also, people being held on bail do not go to the same facilities that convicted people do barring certain circumstances.]]

* BeleagueredAssistant: Dwight Cochrane, the group's NumberTwo (well, Three) who just wants to be a corporate executive and make money, is particularly distraught by Largo's DesignatedVictim misadventures. Especially when he gets caught up in them (including getting shot, nearly taking a fire axe to the face, and in one case, doing time for a crime he was framed for).

Especially when he gets caught up in them (including getting shot, nearly taking a fire axe to the face, and in one case, doing time for a crime he was framed for). In the ''Edge Of Night/Golden Percentile double story'', he finally resigns, or rather, attempts to: Largo is ultimately able to talk him out of it.

* CrimefightingWithCash: Averted: Largo's enormous fortune is rarely of direct use to resolve the problem of the day, though it does help with the inevitable collateral damage.

to:

* CorruptCorporateExecutive: All the time. Heck, even when the series starts, one member of the W Group's board of directors murders Nerio Winch, another is revealed in a later story to be the overseer of a gigantic heroin network, a third is fired for malfeasance and turns up later as the head of CASPE, a fictional network of 'fixers'/secret police for oil cartels where he sets up an eleborate plot to kill Winch and destroy his company for the humiliation, and so on.
* CrimefightingWithCash: Averted: Largo's enormous fortune is rarely of direct use to resolve the problem of the day, though it does help with the inevitable collateral damage. (For example, the time he bought a restaurant at twice its actual value because he crashed a boat into it (via hitting another boat to serve as a makeshift launching pad) because he needed to get on land to find a phone immediately to try [[spoiler:and prevent a bomb from being detonated.]]

* ForcedEuthanasia: Subverted. Nerio Winch summons a man to his penthouse that he knows is plotting to kill him so Nerio won't reveal the man's crimes ([[spoiler:one of the W Group's executives]]). The murderer is surprised at first, then learns Nerio has cancer and so it would count as a MercyKill. However, he also knows Nerio had arranged a ThanatosGambit in case of murder, and instead throws Nerio off the roof.

* CartwrightCurse: Poor Largo just '''CANNOT''' keep a LoveInterest. Let's see... One leaves him because his fortune changed him. One died. One is a recovering addict. One is a Freedom Fighter. One is TheMole, but isn't, but is, then is killed offscreen. The most normal one is PutOnABus and is more of a FriendsWithBenefits anyway. The sod just cannot catch a break.
