* ActionGirl: For a long time, few and far between, as the stories tend to take place during [=WW2=] and before, but the 2010's seems to have been the decade for female heroines - at least compared to their scarcity in the long history of the series. One of them is Soviet Lieutenant Yana Belinky, a pilot belonging to the infamous [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_Witches Night Witches]] is this in spades. Particularly notable that she is shown to be perhaps the most toughest and most capable character in the entire three part "Nachthexen Saga" - she is an ace pilot, quick witted and can survive in wilderness even while recovering from a bad leg injury. She is simply put, badass. She was also the first female lead character ever in Commando, appearing first in the story "Operation Nachthexen " in 2013.

* WholeEpisodeFlashback / HowWeGotHere: It'd be quicker to list the issues of Commando that '''don't''' use these tropes.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

* GeneralFailure: One of these usually turns up - often on the British side. The reason they're allowed to be a BadBoss is because [[ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections he's got a relative who's high-up in the ranks]]. One issue decided to play it UpToEleven, and have a stupid Italian officer whose uncle was ''UsefulNotes/BenitoMussolini''.

''Commando For Action and Adventure'', formerly known as ''Commando War Stories in Pictures'', and colloquially known as ''Commando Comics'', are a series of [[BritishComics British comic books]] that primarily draw their themes and backdrops from the various incidents of the World Wars I and II. The comic, still in print today, was an AlternateCompanyEquivalent to the earlier ''Battle Picture Library'' and ''War Picture Library'' series, which have since been discontinued. The comic is noted for its distinctive 7 × 5½ inch, 68 page format that became a standard for these kinds of stories.

* GoldFever: More than a few stories revolve around characters being blinded by gold, jewelry, paintings, art or other valuables and betraying their comrades for them. Sometimes they get redeemed, but usually not if their greed got people killed, usually their greed gets themselves killed in the end.

Loads And Loads Of Characters is a redirect that should not be linked to

* RecurringCharacter: Usually averted, owing to the fact that that [[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters there's too many to keep track of]]. However, ''Commando'' has been sneaking in a few recurring characters over the years, mostly by writers who are so established within the company that they can more or less get away with it.

Cutting natter.

* YellowPeril: With the success of ''Film/TheBridgeOnTheRiverKwai'', this became more popular during TheSeventies, and considerably less so afterwards, thanks to a healthy dose of ValuesDissonance. In fact, the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy seem to have disappeared altogether from modern ''Commando'' issues.
** Not counting reprints, the last time was ''probably'' in [[TheNineties 1993]]. And even then, it was mostly about a Japanese-American being TheMole for the Allies.
*** ''#4002 Borneo Prince'' and ''#4003 Island Of Terror!'' are both from 2007. Both involve the Japanese.
*** As of recent, Commando issues seem to be featuring the Imperial Japanese army, navy and air force again, although not as much as issues involving the Nazis.
