At the climax of it all, Comicbook/DoctorStrange appeared in his astral form. He told them that the Scarlet Witch's chaotic powers were to blame for this -- the memory of her lost children had driven her insane and taken all the checks off of her reality-warping powers. He engaged Wanda in magical combat and [[MindRape turned the Eye of Agamotto against her]], which left her in a coma. Her father Magneto took away to Genosha to take care of her.

* AliensSpeakingEnglish: Invoked. They captured a Kree, who was talking in BlackSpeech, and ordered him to talk in English, which he did.

** And the infamous one -- Doctor Strange tells the Avengers that there is no such thing as "chaos magic," despite having used it himself in his own solo series.

* JustAMachine: Said by She-Hulk when she destroyed the Vision. Forgive her, she was not being herself, the Scarlet Witch was manipulating her.

* NothingIsTheSameAnyMore: Even if the Avengers returned a month later, the story is a turning point that broke most of their status quo. Before this, they were agents of the UN, after this, the New Avengers were just urban vigilantes.

* CantGetAwayWithNuthin: Poor Tony Stark. After a long battle against the alcohol, he got drunk... without having actually drink any alcohol.

There came a day, a day unlike any other, when Earth's mightiest heroes found themselves in sudden and unexpected crisis, each one worse than the one before. Tony Stark was giving a speech at the UN and, without having drink anything, he got drunk and began to insult the delegate of Latveria. Jack of Hearts, who was supposed to be dead, appeared at the door of the mansion... and exploded, killing Scott Lang. The Vision returned in a Quinjet, crashed it against the mansion, and released five Ultrons from his body. She-Hulk lost control in the battle, and became as savage as the Hulk. The UN broke relations with the Avengers because of Stark's outburst. All of the heroes who had once been Avengers showed up to help... and the alien Kree launched an all-out attack. [[HeroicSacrifice Hawkeye died]] during in battle, taking out a Kree ship.

Without government support, and without financial support from Stark (who was nearly bankrupt), the Avengers had no other choice but to disassemble.

* NotHimself: The out-of-character actions of Tony Stark and She-Hulk (acknowledged as out of character inside the story) were caused by the manipulation of the Scarlet Witch.
* NothingIsTheSameAnymore: Even if the Avengers returned a month later, the story is a turning point that broke most of their status quo. Before this, they were agents of the UN, after this, the New Avengers were just urban vigilantes.

* ThisIsWrongOnSoManyLevels: Nick Fury realized that something was not right: the Kree had all the power they require to blow the city from their ships, so why did they send land troops against the Avengers? It did not make sense. Indeed, it didn't: those were not real Krees, but Krees made up by the imagination of the Scarlet Witch.

She-Hulk loses control in the battle, and became as savage as the Hulk. She took the Vision and broke him in half. The UN broke relations with the Avengers, because of Stark's incident. All the heroes who had once been Avengers show up to help... and the alien Kree launch an all-out attack. Hawkeye died during that fight.

And then, Dr. Strange appeared. Everything that was going on was because of the Scarlet Witch, who remembered that she had lost 2 sons once and go nuts, and now had reality-warping powers. She summoned several other foes against the Avengers, until Dr. Strange left her in a comma. Her father Magneto took her, to take care of her.

Without government support, and without financial support from Stark (who's near of going bankrupt), the Avengers have no other choice but to break up.
