** In another story, things aren't looking good for Riverdale High in the big football game against Central High. Archie's broken his ankle and can't play, while Moose is too dazzled by Midge to focus on practice. Archie goes to the game despite being on crutches, and while he's there he chats up Lisa, one of Central High's cheerleaders. Lisa's boyfriend, one of Central High's players, sees Archie talking to Lisa and messes up his pass. Chuck snags the loose ball and scores a touchdown for Riverdale. Central High decides to retaliate by sending one of their players to hit on a Riverdale cheerleader...[[TooDumbToLive and he picks Midge.]] [[CrazyJealousGuy Moose explodes when he sees this]] and tears through Central High's line, making them fumble. When Archie goes back to talk to Lisa again, her boyfriend gets distracted and Central High screws up yet again, allowing Riverdale to get the game-winning touchdown. The story ends with Archie receiving the game ball for messing up Central High's game plan, much to his confusion.

* NotWhatItLooksLike: One story has school newspaper editor Archie send Jughead out to take some photos for the next edition. When Midge trips on a sidewalk crack, Reggie catches her before she falls. Jughead takes a picture, and Reggie is afraid it'll look like he's hitting on Midge. Miss Grundy is later scared onto her desk by a mouse. Jughead takes a picture, and Miss Grundy thinks he's going to make fun of her in the paper. A long lineup of students are throwing out the awful food they got at the cafeteria, with Miss Beazley explaining that the stove's thermostat is on the fritz and won't cook the food properly. Jughead takes yet another picture, and Miss Beazley thinks that Jughead is going to claim she's a LethalChef. They all confront Mr. Weatherbee over Jughead's photos, but by the time he confronts Archie and Jughead the paper's already gone to press. Superintendent Hassle then comes in demanding to speak to Weatherbee over the paper. Mr. Weatherbee has an OhCrap moment, thinking that Hassle is going to yell at him, but instead he just congratulates Weatherbee and tells him the repair money he's been begging for is on its way. Superintendent Hassle says that the school board read the latest version of the paper and immediately voted Weatherbee the funds he needed. We then see Jughead's pictures and the stories he wrote with them. The photo seemingly of Midge and Reggie only shows her foot, with the byline "Sidewalk Crack Unfixed", the photo of Miss Grundy and the mouse has the byline "Exterminator Needed", and the photo of Miss Beazley and the students throwing out food has the byline "Oven Out Of Order Again." The story ends with Mr. Weatherbee telling the boys to go out and get more photos.

** One story reconstructed this trope. The characters confront real-life Archie Comics editor Victor Gorelick in a RageAgainstTheAuthor moment where they complain about the roles they've been pigeonholed into for the last few decades. They demand changes such as making Archie a ChickMagnet instead of TheCasanova, Jughead becoming a TwoFistedTales private detective instead of a lazy glutton, Veronica SavingTheWorld instead of being a SpoiledBrat, Betty beating Veronica in their competition for Archie, Moose becoming a NiceGuy instead of a CrazyJealousGuy, and Chuck [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking getting to write and draw his own comic strip.]] Archie also complains about the ridiculous stunts one writer named Margopolous puts him through, such as trying to escape Mr. Weatherbee giving him detention by hanggliding off the Empire State Building or shooting Riverdale's RoaringRapids in an inner tube. Victor agrees to all the gang's demands. One month later, the gang comes back to him again, asking why their royalty checks are so small. Victor explains that sales have plummeted since the readers don't like the characters' new direction. They all immediately demand to go right back to their traditional roles, much to Victor's annoyance.

* GoneHorriblyRight: Jughead tries to prove to Archie that people will believe anything they read. He creates a fake newsletter filled with stock tips he chose by pulling them out of a hat and puts it with Mr. Lodge's morning mail. Jughead then verbally offers Mr. Lodge some free stock market advice, but Mr. Lodge laughs him off. Jughead then tells a skeptical Archie that Mr. Lodge didn't believe him, but would believe his fake newsletter. When Mr. Lodge sees the newsletter, he takes its first tip and buys "Syndicated Sludge" despite his broker's protests. Jughead thinks Mr. Lodge will lose his investment, but he instead makes $80,000. Jughead dismisses this as coincidence, saying that one of his phony tips was bound to be lucky. Mr. Lodge then follows the next tip, sells his "Consolidated Flotsam" and saves a bundle when he's the only one to get out of the company before it goes bankrupt. He then orders his broker to follow the rest of Jughead's tips, despite his broker thinking he's crazy. Archie's afraid Mr. Lodge will lose his shirt, and Jughead says he shouldn't believe everything he reads. Instead, all of Jughead's tips are winners and Mr. Lodge scores $2 million. The story ends with everybody learning about Jughead's ploy and wanting him to invest their money, but now he can't make up his mind.

Archie blows them off, saying that when he and the other guys are all playing for the Dallas Cowboys they'll just hire people do the math for them. The coaches reply that the chance of any of the guys playing for the pros are a million to one, and if they don't shape up now they'll never get anywhere. The guys scoff at the coaches' message, but later they run into former high school football star Jimmy Downs. He was nicknamed "Jimmy Touchdowns" for all the times he scored against his team's opponents, but now he's working at a gas station. He had a lot of interest from colleges when he graduated, but they all lost interest when they saw how bad his grades are. He says that he's trying to build up his grades, and that his boss lets him study when the station isn't too busy. The guys are all shaken, and when they meet the coaches later they thank them for caring. The story ends with Kleats and Clayton wondering if they're being too hard on the guys and if OOCIsSeriousBusiness.
