** A more subtle example would be Reira's dueling style in general, her deck revolves around swarming the field with Extra Deck monsters but they all require ''C/C Critical Eye'' to be summoned yet she still managed to draw it in every duel, barring the last one where she wasn't trying to summon a monster.

Not So Different has been renamed, and it needs to be dewicked/moved

* NotSoDifferent:
** From his father, they are both stoic men that run a school that is meant to train child soldiers. They have both done some horrible things to fulfill their goals and have shown no remorse for their actions. This is furthered in episode 52 when Reiji reveals he plans on turning LDS into military training centers for dueling soldiers just like the Academia.
** He also is this to Yuya. When Reiji was 13, roughly around Yuya's age, they were very similar. Both were kindhearted people whose fathers went missing leaving them confused and upset.

** This is finally subverted during his duel with [[spoiler:Crow]]; while at the beginning he was just as belligerent and close-minded as usual, after he [[spoiler:rescues Tanner from falling down on the Duel lane]], Kurosaki realizes that he and Crow had [[NotSoDifferent similar experiences]]. As a result, he ended up befriending him, with both of them promising to continue fighting the good fight against their respective enemies.

* NotSoDifferent:
** Hinted at by his duel with Sora when you consider that Kurosaki has hunted people in much the same way as the Fusion faction, Academia, albeit for a different reason, and he finishes the duel by bombing the virtual Heartland to the ground, which is exactly what the Academia did to the real one. This is further emphasized when Sora revealed that Academia would seal their victims' souls in cards. Furthermore, he is also able to card people like Academia.
** He and Serena share a similar desire in working alone and believing that their strength and skills is enough to take on ''anyone''.
** Hilariously enough, he's this to LDS given that his attitude seems to come from when he was at a pro duelist school himself.
** Befriends Crow once he realizes that this is their situation.
** Kaito is exactly like Kurosaki, but more violent and angrier at Academia, if that's even possible.
** In the dub, he realizes that he's this to Leo Akaba; both of them committed morally unconscious acts in order to get back a family member that they loved; Shay for Lulu and Leo for Ray.

* DoesNotLikeMagic: He doesn't have ''any'' Spell or Trap Cards in his StoneWall deck and just relies on his monster effects. This proves to be more CrazyAwesome than people give it credit for; most of his monster effects require a Graveyard free of Spells and Traps to work. This is the other reason why he never uses Action Cards. He does however gain ''Superheavy Samurai Warlord Susanowo'', whose ability allows him to activate magic cards from his ''opponent's'' graveyard. He later gains ''Superheavy Samurai Steam Fiend Tetsudo'o'', whose ability allows him to banish the Spells and Traps in his graveyard, allowing him to use them without hampering his strategy.
