* InNameOnly: Infamously so. As Weapon XI, a.k.a. "The Deadpool", he has his mouth sewn shut in outright defiance of his comic counterpart's [[MotorMouth predominant character trait]], features a hodgepodge of powers Deadpool has never had, and doesn't visually resemble the original character in the slightest (aside from some scarring around his eyes ''slightly'' resembling the iconic mask). * AdaptationalHeroism: Deadpool is still definitely a HeroicComedicSociopath, but he also genuinely and honestly loves Vanessa, and his love for her is presented as his biggest redeeming quality. Prior to getting his powers, the movie goes to great lengths to show that [[NeverHurtAnInnocent he would never kill anyone who didn't deserve it]], in heavily contrast to the original timeline's Wilson, and that he has a much stronger moral compass than the average mercenary. Case in point: the first thing he does onscreen is [[EstablishingCharacterMoment scare off a teenage stalker who was harassing a young girl]]. While Deadpool did love Vanessa in the comics, their relationship didn't work due to outside factors, and he always insisted that he was a violent sadist long before the Weapon X project got hold of him. Additionally, his mistreatment of Blind Al and Weasel is more in good fun, and he gets as good as he gives, while in the comics he treated them much worse, especially Al, whom he practically kept as a prisoner and would often threaten with violence if she tried to leave. To say nothing of his villainy in his earliest appearances and his first appearance in the comics being him trying to murder Cable and his young students the New Mutants, after having been hired to do so. That said, even at his worst in the comics he rarely would go beyond AntiVillain, and those rare exceptions usually see him filled with self-loathing and remorse over having crossed that line, as he also ''does'' have a moral code ([[BlueAndOrangeMorality even if it is rather warped]]).
