Ignores the context that not only was Luz shown to be with Edric and Emira who frequently bullied Amity, but that a lot of Amity's behavior was a result of abuse from her family, Odalia specifically, and that it's not that she genuinely believed that, but was conditioned to do so.

* MoralMyopia:
** In "Covention", Lilith nearly gets Luz to quit witch training but is distraught when she cheats over a quarrel with Eda, putting her future in the Emperor's Coven at risk, and blames Luz for embarrassing her.
** Another short-lived example in "Lost in Language", where she snaps at Luz and [[{{Hypocrite}} calls her a bully]], completely forgetting in the moment [[PsychologicalProjection her own bullying, mean-spirited, and hurtful actions]]. By the end of the episode, however, she retracts her accusation toward Luz and admits that she hasn't been the nicest witch "either" and wishes to improve this aspect of herself.

* AbusiveParents: In "Understanding Willow", Willow's parents force her to end her friendship with Willow, a social class issue. In "Escaping Expulsion", she learns about her abusive mother, Odalia, and her father, Alador. Amity tries to repair her relationship with her father, who realizes the harm caused by his neglect. In "Clouds on the Horizon", Odalia is revealed as an EvilMatriarch, allowing Belos to kill everyone on the Boiling Isles.

* AgainstTheGrain: Amity was once forced to break up with Willow, her best friend, and have friends she hated but her parents -- specifically her mother, Odalia -- considered suitable. They also expected her to join the Emperor's Coven when she was old enough, and she dyed her hair green like her mother. After befriending Luz and the rest of the Owl House gang, she learns she can be appreciated without having to follow others' expectations: [[spoiler:she becomes Luz' girlfriend, dyes her hair purple, refuses to join the coven and makes friends with Willow again.]]

* AnimalMotifs: Fittingly for a Witch with a White Cat Palisman, she is proud and somewhat standoffish but affectionate once you get to know her. Further, she is also fiercely protective of those close to her, [[ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend especially her girlfriend Luz]] and she has a very strong desire to experience love and affection as a result of her thoroughly lackluster upbringing. She also has a hidden but exceptionally strong desire to [[IJustWantToBeFree exercise independence and free will]] by choosing her own path in life]], free from any outside influence. There are also many instances where Amity's facial expression is catlike.

** Amity's surname, Blight, means "to impair or destroy", and is also a medical term for diseases affecting plants. As such, this appeared to be foreshadowing of the revelation that she and Willow, a ''plant''-based witch, were once best friends, but Amity "impaired/destroyed" that friendship, albeit as a result of being blackmailed into doing it by her parents]], meaning they are a blight on Amity's friendships.

* SheCleansUpNicely: While she's not bad-looking by any stretch of the imagination, she takes things up a notch in "Enchanting Grom Fright" when she wears an elegant dress for Grom night. Likewise, she looks very good in her getup for the Bonesborough Brawl with her girlfriend, Luz, commenting on how pretty she is]].

** In "Clouds on the Horizon", Amity cries joyfully when she reunites with her girlfriend Luz for the first time in around a week, as well as the first time since she learned about the true purpose of the [[FinalSolution Day of Unity]]. Amity was already tearing up beforehand, and she sheds more when she sees that not only is Luz safe but that she has come to rescue her]].

* TechnicianVersusPerformer: She's the Technician to Luz's Performer. Part of why Luz rubs her the wrong way at first is because she treats learning magic as something fun and exciting, whereas to Amity it's her whole ''life''. She eventually realizes that while Luz may view magic as something of a novelty she is also more than willing to put in the work required to actually learn, which Amity finds admirable, especially as Luz is a [[UnSorceror Magic lacking Human]].
