Not only did literally ''everyone'' [[{{Hypocrite}} act exactly the same way he did during the opening of the first film]] (following instruction booklets like Emmet did), Emmet is the only acting differently to everyone else ''and'' he ends up dissenting from them at the beginning, which is how he ends up with the Piece of Resistance in the first place. Even in the opening of the ''second'' film, he's still standing out because he's the only one remaining optimistic in the face of the Duplo invasion. Essentially, everything about him not standing out is a lie.

Both are highly capable individuals who hail from space, and act as allies towards the film's main hero and villain, respectively (Rex serves as TheMentor to [[TheHero Emmet]] while Sweet Mayhem serves as TheDragon to [[BigBad Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi]]). However, Sweet Mayhem is an alien who is revealed to be GoodAllAlong (along with Watevra Wa'Nabi), while Rex is a human who is revealed to be EvilAllAlong.
* HelmetsAreHardlyHeroic: Once her helmet is knocked off by Lucy, Sweet Mayhem stops wearing it for the rest of the film. However, she is shown trading the helmet with Benny at the end.

* CreatingLifeIsUnforeseen: She is the brick heart Emmet built for the Duplo monsters as a sign of friendship, somehow given life, sentience, and [[VoluntaryShapeshifting shapeshifting powers]].
* DisneyDeath: She seemingly dies during Armamageddon but is resurrected after the sad reprise of ''Everything Is Awesome''.

* MorphicResonance: Whatever shape she is in, her face is usually recognizable (and her crown features somewhere on her person). Also, her color scheme tends to stay consistent, mostly composed of red, orange and yellow bricks. This double as subtle foreshadowing, since those are the colors of the heart Emmet created as a gift to the DUPLO aliens.
* MostDefinitelyNotAVillain: She even has a VillainSong built around this trope! Subverted in that she really ''isn't'' a villain, and is just bad at communicating that.

* OfficialCouple: Considering she becomes Batman's wife, it's safe to say she's this with him.

* RealityWarper: An even bigger case than the Master Builders. She can merge with and become the very room you stand in and turn it into a form of pocket dimension.
* RedHerring: The movie tries to give us clues about how she was the BigBad of this movie when really, it's actually Rex, who was Emmet from the future.
* TheReveal: She actually ''is'' good and was Emmet's "Piece" Offering that he made earlier, while it's Rex Dangervest who is the true BigBad of the film.

* WalkingSpoiler: The fact that she's GoodAllAlong and the same heart Emmet offered to the DUPLO invaders as a sign of friendship are well hidden until the climax.

* NotSoStoic: He rarely shows his emotions, but he's among the people crying when Emmet ruins the wedding.

* GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak: Although she is a [[PinkMeansFeminine pink]]-wearing PrincessClassic, she is shown to be a tattoo artist with her own salon at the end of the movie.
