Protagonist of ''The King's Avatar'', Ye Xiu is a textbook example of a veteran Glory player, one who knows the ins and outs of the entire game, earning him the title of "[[RedBaron Battle God]]". When Glory started its professional circuit, Ye Xiu captained the "Excellent Era" team to three consecutive championships in the league's first three seasons. However, prior to the eighth season, the team has fallen to second-to-last place; Excellent Era's management decides it's time for him to go, forcing his retirement from the competitive scene at the age of 25. By chance, he comes across the "Joyful Flourish Internet Cafe" and applies for a job as a night-shift manager. Possessing ten years of experience playing Glory since its beta, Ye Xiu throws himself back into the game in the newly opened tenth server, starting from the very bottom.

As a former professional player, Ye Xiu used a Battle Mage character called "One Autumn Leaf", but with his exit from Excellent Era, he's forced to give it up. He's the current user of "Lord Grim", an Unspecialized-class. [[spoiler:Following the formation of the "Team Happy" professional organization, Ye Xiu becomes the team captain for the tenth season of the competitive league]].
----
* ActuallyIAmHim: Ye Xiu tells his boss Chen Guo shortly after being employed to gauge her reaction. Unfortunately, [[CassandraTruth she doesn't believe him]].
* AdaptationalAttractiveness: The web novel mentions he has pasty skin, unkempt hair, and is starting to put on a bit of weight. Contrast his AnimatedAdaptation and {{Manhua}} appearances, which turns him into a {{Bishounen}}.
* AdaptationNameChange: In the web novel, Lord Grim's weapon is called the "Myriad Manifestation Umbrella", but the animation changes it to "Thousand-Chance Umbrella".
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: {{Downplayed}}; the {{Manhua}} and web novel has him expressing a broad spectrum of emotions, while the animation tends to simply keep him as TheStoic with minor bouts of playful sarcasm. Ye Xiu does emote, just not expressively.
* AffectionateGestureToTheHead: In the animation, Ye Xiu pats Su Mucheng's head as a means to comfort her before he officially leaves Excellent Era.
* AlmightyJanitor: Ye Xiu was, and still is, considered one of the best Glory professional players and veterans of the game, captaining Excellent Era into the championships for three consecutive years. Now, he's simply a night-shift Internet cafe manager, something his ex-teammates mock him for.
* AwesomeButImpractical: "Dragon Raises Its Head" is a Battle Mage technique difficult to execute; additionally, the amount of damage it inflicts is about the same as other easier-to-peform techniques, thus there's no reason for Ye Xiu to use it as much.
* BlackSheep: [[spoiler:Ran away from home to play Glory professionally; his family still disapproves of it]].
* BoringButPractical: There's no advantage in playing an Unspecialized-class for Glory in the present since it's a mix-and-match of different skills from an assortment of {{Character Class}}es (in the past, Unspecialized was considered overpowered until the developers {{Nerf}}ed it), but Ye Xiu's ability to pull off ConfusionFu because of an Unspecialized build, alongside his high APM[[note]]Actions-per-minute[[/note]] makes Lord Grim unpredictable. Wang Jiexi {{Lampshades}} this by describing Ye Xiu's play-style as "crude, yet effective".
* TheChessmaster: His professional-level experience doesn't stop him at being excellent in both the [=PvE=] and [=PvP=] aspects of Glory; he's able to leverage these advantages to [[MagnificentBastard literally toy with almost every big-name guild]] in the new server and get what he wants from each of them. This is primarily how he acquires the rare crafting materials needed to upgrade the Myriad Manifestation Umbrella.
* CombatCommentator: When watching other pro matches with his team, he can do it better than the official commentators.
* CombatPragmatist: Will shamelessly call for backup when he's losing, even if it's a one-on-one duel to begin with. He'll also resort to peeking at another player's screen for information and incite rival factions into [[LetsYouAndHimFight in-fighting]] whenever he finds it convenient to do so.
* DeathOfAThousandCuts: Lord Grim is only capable of the most basic skills, yet Ye Xiu theoretically has access to 120 of them to chip at his opponents slowly.
* TheDreaded: Once Lord Grim's notoriety in the tenth server increases, so does the character's exploits to guild leaders everywhere when it comes to tackling who gets the first boss kill or the fastest dungeon completion time. [[spoiler:By the time he establishes himself as a powerhouse in the Heavenly Domain, the club-backed guilds are practically trembling in his presence even when he isn't actively targeting them]]!
* ExperiencedProtagonist: Ten years of it for Glory, so much that Ye Xiu can create a strategy on the fly with a party against a boss, even beating one single-handedly.
* HesBack: [[spoiler:During the "All-Star Competition Player vs. Pro Battle", while posing as a random challenger, Ye Xiu performs the Dragon Raises Its Head technique, stunning observing pros and the audience who all believed he has retired, thus declaring to the millions watching he intends to return to the professional scene]].
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Initially, due to the incident in Sleeping Moon's party at the start of the game. Over the course of a few arcs, Ye Xiu slowly rebuilds Lord Grim's image.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: {{Zigzagged}} with Lord Grim and the Myriad Manifestation Umbrella - while it mostly shapeshifts to accommodate the Unspecialized role, Ye Xiu uses it in its umbrella form more often than not.
* InSeriesNickname: "Brother Expert" in the {{Manhua}}.
* InsaneTrollLogic: Any attempts to understand Ye Xiu's seemingly random actions can result in this. For example, [[spoiler:when a complicated chain of events over a few days leads to Ye Xiu meeting up with Zhang Jiale, Chen Guo questions Ye Xiu if it's part of some grand master plan to recruit the latter. Ye Xiu responds that if he wants to recruit Jiale, he could do it simply over "[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tencent_QQ QQ]]" instead]].
* JackOfAllTrades: Played with; an Unspecialized character has one of the largest pool of accessible skills of all classes (upwards to ''120 skills''), [[MasterOfNone but that doesn't guarantee advantages]]. {{Discussed}} with Yu Wenzhou later on when an Unspecialized build is no longer useful - Wenzhou states the class proves ineffective by level 95 (the current LevelCap is 70), since no more skills can be learned and its weaknesses are evident when higher level characters gain access to their strongest abilities.
** This weakness later gets a solution once Ye Xiu upgrades his Myriad Manifestion Umbrella to level 70. [[spoiler:This is due to the fact the weapon gains the ability to add one skill point for each of its forms - these points are usable on level 20+ skills, including the strongest skills for a class]].
* JustForPun: In Mandarin, Lord Grim's class (Unspecialized) and weapon (umbrella) are pronounced with the same ''pinyin'' (''sÇŽn'').
* LargeHam: Variation; Ye Xiu's stable of alternate accounts are full of unusual names - "Unrivalled Super Hottie", "Enlightened Lord" and "Let There Be Light".
%%* TheLeader: Ye Xiu mixes being Levelheaded and the Mastermind.
* LethalJokeCharacter: Lord Grim's Unspecialized-class status was deemed completely useless for high level play until Ye Xiu comes along with a custom weapon designed to unlock its full potential. No one's laughing anymore.
* LightIsGood: In contrast to One Autumn Leaf's appearance, Lord Grim wears primarily white armor with bright colored accessories and weapon.
* LonersAreFreaks: Ye Xiu never showing his face to the public is what got him fired from his original team.
* MixAndMatchWeapon: {{Exaggerated}} with the Myriad Manifestation Umbrella - with more than a few boss materials crafted into it, this weapon can go through no more than ''twelve'' configurations to accommodate whatever skills Ye Xiu intends to utilize, ranging from a BladeOnAStick, CaneSword and GatlingGood.
* MustHaveNicotine: Ye Xiu smokes often, and he mentions that going a while without a cigarette makes his head hurt, justifying it's to keep a possible addiction out of the way of his gaming habit.
* NotSoStoic: Whenever he's exposed to Huang Shaotian's endless talking for a prolonged period of time.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: {{Zigzagged}}
** {{Subverted}} when he was in the professional league: as the Excellent Era manager states to Sun Xiang after Ye Xiu is forced to retire, the earliest competitive seasons had little prize money awarded. Ye Xiu used a majority of his winnings to ensure his friends in the league stayed afloat when their primary source of income was in "eSports", since he refused the likes of sponsorships. {{Deconstructed}} against Ye Xiu when this attitude proves to be the final straw to Excellent Era when they rank almost dead last in the league after the ninth season, leading to his forced retirement.
** Played straight when using Lord Grim after the tenth server's debut: Ye Xiu has no intention of joining a guild - he merely participates in their raids to acquire rare materials to upgrade the Myriad Manifestation Umbrella.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Ye Xiu goes by "Ye Qiu" in the pro scene, thus most people don't make the connection in-person; he also never showed his face publicly. Unfortunately {{Deconstructed}} as being known as Ye Qiu prevents anyone from taking Xiu's claims as the LivingLegend seriously.
* PaperThinDisguise: [[spoiler:Ye Xiu infiltrates Guild "Tyrannical Ambition" as Unrivaled Super Hottie. Due to his skill, his cover is blown within a day]].
* ParasolOfPain: The default configuration of the Myriad Manifestation Umbrella used by Lord Grim.
* PerpetualPoverty: In the early days of the league, most eSports players sacrificed their studies, earned very little, and had no employable skills outside of playing the game. Ye Xiu ended up giving away most of his winnings to support his retired colleagues while they look for new jobs or go back to school.
* RainbowPimpGear: In the {{Manhua}} and web novel, Lord Grim starts out wearing armor picked from multiple classes due to Ye Xiu only caring about their stats, leading to [[https://68.media.tumblr.com/e56058979ae03865fee96394bae3b2b7/tumblr_inline_oprl28JVRd1u9czmv_540.png this]]. {{Lampshaded}} in the web novel by describing his character as moving like a "rainbow-colored blur" during a duel, though {{Subverted}} when Ye Xiu later straightens this out for Lord Grim.
* RedBaron: Aside from his "Battle God" epitaph, "Glory Textbook" is another due to his in-depth knowledge of the game.
* ReluctantRetiree: Ye Xiu is forced to retire at the beginning of the story since he no longer holds commercial value for Excellent Era when the team ranks second-to-last in the professional circuit. Furthermore, his contract's terminations fees are too expensive for him to quit, given he has little-to-no money.
* RetiredBadass: Even though Ye Xiu can no longer compete professionally for the next year, his skills are hardly diminished upon starting a new character in the tenth server.
* RobbingTheDead: Ye Xiu has no problem doing this if it means getting better equipment.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: In Excellent Era, he was allowed to smoke in non-smoking areas because he was the team captain.
* ScrewTheRulesImFamous: [[spoiler:He manages to unite four bickering guilds into one strong alliance]] solely by relying on his fame.
* SecretTest: Ye Xiu does this to Tyrannical Ambition guild players [[spoiler:while infiltrating the guild as a Knight]]; the guild leaders know Ye Xiu is up to something but don't know what. Turns out Ye Xiu is trying to [[spoiler:scout and recruit a Cleric for Team Happy]].
* SignatureMove: The Battle Mage maneuver Dragon Raises Its Head has only ever been executed properly by Ye Xiu in Glory, so much that it's his calling card. [[spoiler:By using this during the Glory Alliance All-Star Competition, Ye Xiu publicly proclaims his intent to return to the pro league after defeating another professional player in a one-one-one duel. This alone is enough to convince [[SelectiveObliviousness Chen Guo]] he really is the Battle God himself]].
* TheRival: Of Han Wenqing and "Team Tyranny"; exemplified when [[spoiler:Ye Xiu and Team Happy are given security escorts by the league during their Season 10 semi-final match in the playoffs against Tyranny at their home stadium due to the latter's fans]].
* TheSmartGuy: Touted as one of the four "Master Tacticians" in Glory; this can be seen with his strategies where he's able to fine-tune how best to acquire the fastest dungeon completion times and what skills his party members should use in order to maximize damage against foes. [[spoiler:The largest guilds in the game are willing to pay a lot for his dungeon guides]].
* [[DrowningMySorrows Smoking My Sorrows]]: He will often go out for a smoke whenever he feels sad or upset, especially in the animation.
* TheStoic: He rarely emotes expressively, often leading to people thinking he's a DeadpanSnarker.
* TaughtByTelevision: Played with - in the middle of large-scale dungeon runs and boss fights, Ye Xiu will stop and propose new methods to make the battles easier. When prompted, he always replies with "I just read the guide".
* TheTeetotaler: Believes that long-term consumption of alcohol will impair his reaction time and hand speed, thus generally avoids it, though it's actually because he CantHoldHisLiquor.
* TranquilFury: {{Discussed}}; when Chen Guo states Ye Xiu should be furious at players calling him out on his method of play, Ye Xiu ''is'' angry, but says there's no point in being angry towards a computer screen nor does he really need to explicitly show such an expression.
* {{Troll}}: Being well-versed in the world of Glory, combined with his general skills, leads him to messing with lesser-experienced players and even stronger guilds.
* WartsAndAll: Chen Guo may be his one of his biggest fans, but even she gets exasperated by his {{Troll}}ish antics a lot.
* TheWonka: [[spoiler:Ye Xiu will drag fellow pro players to help him out in dungeon runs and expose guild spies and ask them to help out his guild in any way. Furthermore, he will walk up to bickering guild leaders at random and propose an alliance with each other]]. While most players can see the logic behind his actions, they're not crazy enough to execute it themselves.
* WouldHitAGirl: While shaking off Excellent Dynasty's pursuers, he turns back and attacks a female player because she has an orange-tier weapon and he wants it.
* WouldHurtAChild: He has absolutely no qualms bullying Lu Hanwen, who's just 14 years-old.

[[folder:Chen Guo]]
[[quoteright:225:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chen_guo.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:225:[[labelnote:Click here]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chasing_haze.png[[/labelnote]] to see Chasing Haze]]

Owner of the Joyful Flourish Internet Cafe and member of Guild "Excellent Dynasty", Chen Guo is a casual Glory player, but nevertheless a big fan of Excellent Era. She's the current user of "Chasing Haze", a Launcher-class. [[spoiler:Upon discovering Ye Xiu is really Ye Qiu, whom she admires, Chen Guo informally creates "Happy", whose members eventually compete in the professional league during the qualification round of the ninth season]].
----
* CantCatchUp: Even for an amateur, her skill in Glory is only average at best, with an APM of roughly 120.
* HairTriggerTemper: She's so HotBlooded, it takes very little for her to get completely riled up; this gets worse after Ye Xiu becomes her employee. {{Downplayed}} in the animation [[AdaptationPersonalityChange by toning down her temperment into mild annoyance]].
* MoralityChain: As their employer, she's the only restraint in holding back Ye Xiu's [[spoiler:and Wei Chen's]] plan to [[spoiler:hunt and rob unsuspecting players for better equipment]].
* NotSoAboveItAll: Normally, Chen Guo disapproves of Ye Xiu's in-game {{Troll}}ing and playing the villain...unless the target is her enemy.
* OnlySaneMan: She's an average-level Glory player and [[LockedOutOfTheLoop locked out of the routine]] [[spoiler:Happy]] goes through, making her less eccentric than the people Ye Xiu brings into her cafe.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Generally tolerates Ye Xiu's antics, but will still rebuke him when he crosses the line.
* ScrewTheMoneyIHaveRules: Bans minors from using her cafe, even if it means losing revenue.
* SelectiveObliviousness: Despite all the evidence that says otherwise (knowing Ye Xiu is a retired professional, having played Glory for ten years, is exceptionally knowledged about the game and Ye Xiu flat out telling her who he really is), Chen Guo simply does not realize Ye Xiu is Ye Qiu. [[spoiler:She's finally convinced during the Glory Alliance All-Star Weekend event when Ye Xiu, under the guise of an unknown substitute contestant, pulls off his in-game SignatureMove against another pro player]].
* TomboyishPonytail: Chen Guo sports this and {{Exaggerated}} with Chasing Haze's appearance, whose hair is as big and long as the avatar's body.
* TragicDropout: The Internet cafe belonged to her father; she dropped out of school to manage it after he passed on.
* WomanChild: From her ecstatic {{Fan Girl}}ing over Glory and her idol Su Mucheng, her HairTriggerTemper over the slightest misdeeds to her utter glee at watching Ye Xiu {{Troll}} her opponents in the game, she certainly appears to have shades of this. Ye Xiu even {{lampshades}} it when Chen Guo is repeatedly goading him into ruining a dungeon run just so he can show off by calling her a "little kid".

[[folder:Tang Rou]]
[[quoteright:225:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/329369.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:[[labelnote:Click here]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/soft_mist.png[[/labelnote]] to see Soft Mist]]

An employee at the Joyful Flourish Internet Cafe and best friends with Chen Guo, Tang Rou comes from a wealthy family. Previously heading abroad to study music, she found it boring and returned home, stumbling by the Internet cafe and applying for a job. Tang Rou's Glory avatar is "Soft Mist", a Battle Mage-class.
----
* TheApprentice: To Ye Xiu - she uses a Battle Mage, with her opponents noting her play-style is similar to Ye Xiu when he was using One Autumn Leaf.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: Underneath her sweet and demure exterior lies a ferocious...
* BloodKnight: Will happily challenge a hostile 200-player squad just because she feels it will be a good fight.
* ButtonMashing: Her hand speed is fast enough to [[spoiler:defeat Samsara's Du Ming]] just from this trope alone.
* CompetitionFreak: Tang Rou deems Glory too boring because she can take on most in-game challenges easily with her naturally high hand speed and defeating casual opponents in [=PvP=] duels. Once Ye Xiu trounces her several times while berating her lack of actual skill with the game, she officially plays with her own account (since Tang Rou is goaded by Chen Guo to help her character Chasing Haze in [=PvP=] duels). While her initial reason is so she can eventually beat Ye Xiu, Tang Rou's competitive nature changes to such a degree she simply likes beating opponents tougher than her, breaking records and besting any challenge.
* ConservationOfNinjutsu: Subverted; [[spoiler:when she attempts to take on a squad of Guild "Blue Brook" players alone, she gets Soft Mist killed before even getting near them]].
* DavidVersusGoliath: Tang Rou [[spoiler:defeats a pro player in public]] during a casual fan event. Awkwardness ensues.
* {{Determinator}}: Upon losing to Ye Xiu for the first time, she requests a rematch, despite not knowing she's going up against a former professional player, even when there's money on the line (she wages a couple hundred ''renminbi''). {{Lampshaded}} by members of professional team "Tiny Herb", who note during [=PvP=] she's still just as ferocious even when Soft Mist's {{Hit Point}}s are at critical levels.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Played with and {{Discussed}} - Tang Rou's BloodKnight and CompetitionFreak tendencies causes her to quickly become disoriented and confused at first when attempting to cooperate with others, as she's described to have a selfish desire [[OneManArmy to solo everything the game throws at her]] instead of engaging in proper teamwork. This gets her into trouble several times, although she slowly grows out of this attitude thanks to Ye Xiu's mentoring.
* ItsEasySoItSucks: Gets bored with "easy" games. She starts taking Glory seriously after getting thoroughly beaten by Ye Xiu in [=PvP=], who claims there's nothing "easy" about Glory.
* InstantExpert: After playing Glory competitively for only a month, she can already stand her ground against professional players in [=PvP=]. Within that month, Wang Jiexi invites her to try out for Tiny Herb.
* IronicName: Although "Rou" means gentle and while she does appear to be so on the outside, in reality she's rather bloodthirsty in spirit - always out for a challenge and will stop at nothing until she overcomes it.
* TheNicknamer: Gives nicknames for close friends and Glory allies, such as "Guoguo" for Chen Guo and "Mumu" for Su Mucheng.
* TheTease: When the Internet cafe suffers a blackout, the electrician arrives at 8 PM, stating it will take at least a day to fix, to which he'll start the next morning. Tang Rou uses her looks and sweet words to persuade the electrician to fix it within four hours.
* UnskilledButStrong: Pure hand speed allows her to beat casual players that gives Chen Guo trouble, but experts can easily exploit her inexperience against seasoned veterans. Played with, however, since she's getting direct help from Ye Xiu, a former professional player, meaning it's just a matter of time before she closes the gap and minimizes her weaknesses.

!Professional Teams
!!!301 Degrees

Considered a mid-tier team in the league, "301 Degrees"[[note]]Pronounced as "three-oh-one"[[/note]] is known for their steady performances in competitions, having consistently entered the playoffs.
----
[[folder:As A Team]]
* ILetYouWin: In a Season 8 regular match against Excellent Era, they deliberately throw the Group Challenge in such a way that it boosts Sun Xiang's ego, draining his stamina and disrupting his rhythm. In the subsequent Team Challenge, they sweep through Excellent Era after easily isolating One Autumn Leaf from the rest of the team.
* QuantityVsQuality: Instead of focusing their resources into one god-level character like One Autumn Leaf, the team invested equally in their six starting characters, all of whom are on par with All-Star level characters.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Yang Cong]]

Captain of 301 Degrees and operator of "Scene Killer", Yang Cong is the best Assassin-class player in the league.
----
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Xu Bin]]

Making his debut in Season 6, Xin Bin uses the Knight-class character "Tide" for 301 Degrees. Seen as an incredibly patient player, Xu Bin centers his strategies around "grinding" his opponents mentally and physically, extending [=PvP=] fights via positioning and dodging attacks frequently. This often leads his opponents into frustrating, irritating bouts, exhausting them in the long run. [[spoiler:Before the start of Season 9, he transfers to Tiny Herb to replace the retired Deng Fusheng and is given the latter's character Angelica]].
----
* DudeWheresMyRespect
** [[spoiler:Despite being snubbed for the All-Star Invitational]], Ye Xiu states he's a better Knight player than All-Star Deng Fusheng.
** Although Xu Bin is a modest, reliable teammate with generally good tactics, fans of 301 Degrees don't necessarily appreciate his presence on the team. [[spoiler:Following his transfer into Tiny Herb, fans realize exactly why he was an essential part of 301 Degrees]].
* InSeriesNickname: He's nicknamed the "Grind King" due to his StoneWall play-style, maintaining his defenses in order to drag out duels, hence why every fight against him is seen as a "slow grind".
[[/folder]]

!!!Blue Rain
[[quoteright:223:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bluerain.jpg]]

After debuting in the first season of the professional league, "Blue Rain" is considered one of the top teams, consisting of some of the best players with a strong training program. According to Ye Xiu, Blue Rain's environment is the best place to develop young talent. In Season 6, Blue Rain bested Tiny Herb to become league champions.
----
[[folder:As A Team]]
* {{Combat Pragmatist}}s: Blue Rain's primary strategy revolves around finding and creating opportunities to exploit - Yu Wenzhou baits opponents into creating mistakes and gaps, while Huang Shaotian roams around and constantly goads them by vocally pointing out their shortcomings. The team's effectiveness, however, is reduced when the opponent doesn't make any significant errors.

Blue Rain's captain and user of the Warlock character "Swoksaar", Yu Wenzhou made his league debut in Season 4 of the professional league. Calm, patient and very easy-going, Wenzhou is part of the four Master Tacticians of Glory. Seen as a composed player, Yu Wenzhou never feels discouraged because of his weaknesses, nor does he ever need to prove his strength against competing Glory opponents. [[spoiler:When the debut "World Glory Championships" is organized, Wenzhou is selected to be captain of Team China]].
----
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Wenzhou deduces Lord Grim's identity and the chain of events behind the Boneyard Dungeon records simply by reading them.
* CharacterTics: In the animation, he loves spinning mechanical pencils.
* InSeriesNickname: Because of his relatively slow hands and APM, he's nicknamed "[[FluffyTheTerrible The Cripple]]".
* LittleNo: Gives this when Huang Shaotian [[spoiler:openly invites Lord Grim to Guild Blue Brook]].
%%* MeaningfulName: "Wenzhou" means "Province of Scholarly Arts"
* MightyGlacier: Wenzhou may be the captain of a championship winning team, but he's one of the slowest players in the league due to his low APM.
* NiceGuy: Not only is Wenzhou friendly, polite and maintains good relations with everyone in the pro circle, he smiles often and rarely raises his voice.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: He's slow only when compared to his fellow pros. His speed is still within the top 5% of Glory players at >200 APM. For comparison, Chen Guo can only reach 120 APM.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Huang Shaotian's red, given the latter is hot-headed and rambunctious.
* SuperiorSuccessor: [[spoiler:Even before his professional debut, Wenzhou defeated Blue Rain's ex-captain Wei Chen in practice duels repeatedly]].
* WeakButSkilled: As one of the four Master Tacticians of the game, Wenzhou makes up for his slow APM with being TheSmartGuy, often out-predicting his opponents. Ye Xiu {{Lampshades}} if Wenzhou has faster typing hands, he'd be unbeatable.

Vice-captain of Blue Rain, Huang Shaotian uses the Blade Master character "Troubling Rain", having made his debut in Season 4. However, he'll resort to using "Flowing Tree" whenever he's on Glory's tenth server. Because of his expertise with the sword, Shaotian is given the epitaph "[[RedBaron Sword Saint]]" among Glory players, though among professionals, Shaotian is best known for being an incredible, if not, redundant and unbearable {{Trash Talk}}er.
----
* TheAce: A rare example of a Glory professional player skilled at [=PvP=] who isn't a team captain.
* CuteLittleFangs: Animated version only to denote his mischievious nature.
* GoshdangItToHeck: Has to resort to this in professional matches due to league rules; outside of professional circles, he turns into SirSwearsALot.
* IShallTauntYou: Arguably Glory's greatest TrashTalk trash talker, Shaotian is so good at it, he can ''simultaneously type in the chat box while fighting''.
* LaserGuidedKarma: After annoying and taunting his fellow pros with his MotorMouth for years, they have no problem heckling and mocking him when he's on the losing end.
%%* MeaningfulName: "Shaotian" means Young Sky.
* MotorMouth: {{Exaggerated}} in the animation where speech bubbles appear everywhere in the middle of a fight when he goes full-on taunting. Hilariously, this trait leads to him becoming MrExposition for a short while in the web novel.
* NiceGuy: He's genuinely eager for Ye Xiu's comeback and will sometimes even help him out for free.
* ObviousRulePatch: His MotorMouth tendencies, especially when his character is eliminated in matches, resulted in the league making a new rule to prevent dead players from talking.
* OldShame: He was scouted by Blue Rain because he was an expert in stealing boss kills, something he never wants people to bring up ever again.
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Yu Wenzhou's blue, the well-mannered and patient team captain of Blue Rain.
* RightInFrontOfMe: When going incognito as Flowing Tree, he gets flamed as a "Huang Shaotian ripoff" by his own fans when he starts using his MotorMouth.
* TalkingIsAFreeAction: InUniverse, he's so skilled at juggling a fight ''and'' typing away in the chatbox that he can taunt opponents in the middle of a scuffle, even when he's losing.

[[folder:Yu Feng]]

The best Berserker-class player in the league and user of "Brilliant Edge", Yu Feng stepped into the league's spotlight with a bang during Season 6 and was crowned the "Best Newcomer" of that season. [[spoiler:He transfers from Blue Rain to Hundred Blossoms at the end of Season 8, operating the character "Falling Scattered Flowers"]].
----
* NewcomerSavesTheDay: His outstanding rookie season played a huge role in Blue Rain's championship run in Season 6.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: He's the best Berserker-class user in the league with his own solid fan base, but Yu Feng's not as important to Blue Rain compared to Shaotian and Wenzhou. [[spoiler:Seeing there's little-to-no opportunity for him to be a core player, Yu Feng leaves for Hundred Blossoms]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lu Hanwen]]

A middle-school student who's being developed under Blue Rain's youth system, at 14 years-old Lu Hanwen makes his debut in Season 9 as the youngest ever professional Glory player in the league.
----
* TheApprentice: Hanwen is being groomed to potentially succeed Huang Shaotian.
* AwesomeButImpractical: Equally as fast as Tiny Herb's Liu Xiaobie and can create eight shadow clones, but his lack of control means opponents can see through half of them easily. For comparison, Huang Shaotian can make seven perfectly indistinguishable clones.
* CombatPragmatist: After getting [[ToxicFriendInfluence influenced by Ye Xiu]] for a few days, he becomes extremely opportunistic with a shamelessness on par with the game's veterans.
* ConservationofNinjutsu: Subverted; when he attempts to take on the Four Guild Alliance single-handedly, Hanwen ends up getting himself trapped and kicked around like a ball.
* {{Determinator}}: After getting crushed by Ye Xiu twice, he still wants revenge, and will cut through an entire squad of opponents to get it.
* GenkiGuy: Nothing gets him down, not even after being continuously toyed with by Ye Xiu like a rag doll.
* ItOnlyWorksOnce: He has an immense capacity for learning and the mental strength to correct his weaknesses on the spot. After Ye Xiu sees through his many poorly managed clones and defeat him soundly, Hanwen recovers immediately and adjusts to focus on quality instead of quantity.
* NaiveNewcomer: In his first appearance, Ye Xiu easily manipulates him into sacrificing himself to gain the upper hand in a 3-way Wild Boss fight.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: After a few days of constantly being bullied in the off-season Wild Boss hunts, most players in Team Happy have a low opinion of Hanwen's skill - only veteran players acknowledge him as a dangerous threat. {{Lampshaded}} by Ye Xiu, who points out Hanwen isn't by any means weak, even if he does get easily trounced by veterans.

!!!Excellent Era
[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/excellentera.png]]

One of the pioneering teams in the Glory league, at their peak, Excellent Era won the championship three consecutive times in the first three seasons. Since then, the team has been on an uneasy decline in the rankings, [[spoiler:leading to their relegation status after Season 8]].
----
[[folder:As a Team]]
* ATragedyOfImpulsiveness: [[spoiler:Ye Xiu was getting old and would have retired in a few seasons. Excellent Era's downfall began because they didn't want to wait for him to leave]].
* VestigialEmpire: At their peak, Excellent Era was the number one ranked team in the league with some of the best and strongest players, but with Ye Xiu's exit, alongside losing multiple players through transfers to other teams (especially during Season 9 and beyond), the team is less than a shadow of their former selves. This is emphasized when Excellent Era [[spoiler:loses in the Revival Tournament for Season 9 - the team essentially becomes ''bankrupt''. Ye Xiu has to ask Xia Zhongtian, a rich fan of Excellent Era, to purchase the organization in order to save it from liquidation]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sun Xiang]]
[[quoteright:225:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sun_xiang.jpg]]

Formerly of professional team "Over The Clouds", Sun Xiang becomes Excellent Era's replacement team captain for Ye Xiu, having been bought for 7 million ''renminbi'', and is the current user of One Autumn Leaf at the start of Season 8. [[spoiler:Before the start of Season 10, he and One Autumn Leaf transfer to Samsara]].
----
* AdaptationDyeJob: Has black hair in the {{Manhua}} and is a blonde for the animation.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Sun Xiang has trouble co-operating with his teammates during competitive matches and stepping out of Ye Xiu's shadow (given the legacy of the character he's been handed to by management); this sets him at ends with Excellent Era when they start losing at exhibition matches.
* AuthorityInNameOnly: As Excellent Era's captain, he actually has very little influence over the team.
* DarkIsEvil: Played with; Sun Xiang certainly isn't evil, despite Excellent Era taking away One Autumn Leaf from Ye Xiu and handing it to Xiang as a result of business transactions, but given his ArrogantKungFuGuy attitude among his own Excellent Era teammates, alongside One Autumn Leaf's avatar having black hair, dark-colored armor and weapon, this trope still fits.
* InadequateInheritor: As much as Sun Xiang is one of the top players in the league, even he can't live up to the initial hype as One Autumn Leaf's successor.
* ItsAllAboutMe: He has this worse than Tang Rou, as Sun Xiang's {{Pride}} prevents him from cooperating effectively with his teammates. This causes their attempt to rise back up the league rankings becoming incredibly rocky, despite his individual talent.
%%* MeaningfulName: "Xiang" means "to soar"
* OnlyTheChosenMayWield: Played with; Sun Xiang can function when playing with One Autumn Leaf, but can't play the avatar in such a way it matches up with Ye Xiu's legacy. [[spoiler:Considering that Evil Annihilation, One Autumn Leaf's weapon, is specifically tailored to be used with Ye Xiu's play-style exclusively, it seems natural it might cripple another user]].
* ThePeterPrinciple: He's one of the best players in the league, but as a team captain, his leadership abilities are subpar.
* TeenGenius: Rose to fame at 18-years old when he led Over The Clouds, a no-name team, into the Season 7 playoffs. After his departure, the team became relegation strugglers again.
* TheUsurper: {{Enforced}} by Excellent Era's management, allowing Sun Xiang to take Ye Xiu's position away as team captain.

[[caption-width-right:341:[[labelnote:Click here]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cleansing_mist.jpg[[/labelnote]] to see Cleansing Mist]]

A rare female professional player in Glory, Su Mucheng is touted as the best at the Launcher-class in the league with her character "Dancing Rain", but will use "Cleansing Mist" wherever she plays on the tenth server. Mucheng was raised in an orphanage, but left some time later, becoming ChildhoodFriends with Ye Xiu when Glory started its beta. When he joined the professional league and signed on with Excellent Era, Mucheng followed suit. [[spoiler:After Season 10, she becomes team captain of Happy]].
----
* CaptainErsatz: An orange-haired female companion to the male protagonist who spends much of her time in a MassivelyMultiplayerOnlineRolePlayingGame - is this Su Mucheng or [[LightNovel/SwordArtOnline Asuna Yuuki]]?
* TheChick: The only female player in Excellent Era; [[spoiler:subverted when she joins Happy as Tang Rou is part of the roster]].
* ColourfulThemeNaming: Mixed with MeaningfulName - "cheng" means "orange" in Chinese, matching the hair color of her and her avatars.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: In Mo Fan's eyes at least - after a week of watching her do nothing but eat, watch television dramas and play Flash games, [[spoiler:he duels her in [=PvP=] and gets curb stomped within one minute]].
* DefectorFromDecadence: She's displeased with Excellent Era's mistreatment of Ye Xiu, with his forced retirement being the last straw for her. [[spoiler:Once her contract expires, she refuses new offers and joins Team Happy at the end of Season 9]].
* MaleGaze: In episode five of the animation, when Mucheng joins Ye Xiu's raiding party, the camera deliberately goes for a close-up shot of Cleansing Mist's avatar, starting with ZettaiRyouiki.
* PopularityPower: Although she isn't the best female player in Glory, she is considered the most popular woman, being deemed as the most beautiful and the one who holds the most commercial value from league sponsors.
* SatelliteCharacter: {{Deconstructed}} InUniverse - when Ye Xiu was with Excellent Era, her play-style revolved around working with him, but due to his exit from the team, she's forced to adapt without him since Sun Xiang doesn't use One Autumn Leaf the way Ye Xiu does. [[spoiler:This becomes another reason why she leaves Excellent Era to join Happy]].
* SmallGirlBigGun: {{Downplayed}}; a Launcher's {{BFG}} is already large, but Mucheng's avatars are slightly taller than the gun.

[[folder:Liu Hao]]
[[quoteright:261:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/liu_hao_0.png]]

Vice-captain of Excellent Era, Liu Hao uses the Spellblade-class character "Total Darkness"; on the tenth server, he masquerades as "Hateful Sword", a Berserker-class.
----
* CombatCompliment: Ye Xiu doesn't like his attitude, but still acknowledges Liu Hao's in-game ability.
* EvilMakesYouUgly: He's not very attractive in the animation; in the web novel, Wang Jiexi and Huang Shaotian describe him for having the face of a schemer who's up to no good.
* ItsPersonal: He feels that Ye Xiu had long been holding him back from stardom during his tenure as team captain, hence his continued efforts to humiliate Ye Xiu even after the latter has retired.
* LaserGuidedKarma: After his role in forcing Ye Xiu out of Excellent Era, [[spoiler:he gets off-loaded to a weakened Thunderclap post-Season 8]].
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: Delights in Ye Xiu's fall from grace, and openly mocks him at his workplace.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: After suffering major losses to Huang Shaotian and Ye Xiu in the same day, he realizes pursuing {{Revenge}} on Ye Xiu at his current skill level isn't worth it, [[spoiler:but played with because Liu Hao will still try only when he thinks he can win]].
* ThePeterPrinciple: Ye Xiu acknowledges his gaming skill, but he still affirms Liu Hao is hardly fit for the role of a vice-captain.
* RevengeBeforeReason: In his quest to beat Ye Xiu's Boneyard Dungeon speed record, he forgets about a match against Blue Rain and gets defeated by Huang Shaotian easily.
* YouAreInCommandNow: Due to the leadership vacuum caused by Ye Xiu's departure and Sun Xiang's lack of influence over the team, Liu Hao informally takes charge of Excellent Era.

[[folder:Tao Xuan]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/taoxuan.jpg]]

Chief executive officer and owner of Excellent Era, Tao Xuan is the one who forced Ye Xiu to retire at the beginning of the story.
----
* FailureGambit: Played with - the method he used to force Ye Xiu into retirement runs far deeper than is initially shown. [[spoiler:He [[ManipulativeBastard deliberately set Excellent Era up to fail]] by weakening Ye Xiu's authority within the team, causing most members to [[TheMutiny question his status as team captain]], thus dampening their overall performance and leading to their gradual decline after the fourth championship season. * FatalFlaw: {{Greed}} - [[spoiler:had he not focused on weakening Ye Xiu's influence for being a recluse]], it wouldn't have led to the downfall of Excellent Era.
* GoneHorriblyWrong: See FailureGambit; Tao Xuan initially planned to bring Excellent Era back to its championship status again after forcing Ye Xiu to retire. [[spoiler:Instead, Ye Xiu becomes a thorn in their side, indirectly causing their relegation at the end of the eighth season. He doesn't account for his quiet attempt at creating a mutiny to [[ItsPersonal further feed the enmity of several players on Excellent Era's team against Ye Xiu]] and cause them to make rash decisions that has negative repercussions on their professional performance. As a result, the team plummets much faster than he had accounted for]].
* LaserGuidedKarma: [[spoiler:With Excellent Era losing the Revival Tournament in Season 9 to Team Happy, which would have brought them out from relegation, Tao Xuan exits as team owner after scandals come pouring in due to their loss in the tournament, alongside the revelation of why Ye Xiu truly left Excellent Era. As the team is bought out by Xia Zhongtian, Xuan leaves for the United States]].
* NothingPersonal: He doesn't hate Ye Xiu personally, [[spoiler:but his reclusive nature renders him and the team unmarketable. Excellent Era lost out on many lucrative team endorsement contracts because Ye Xiu refuses to appear in public]].
%%* RichBitch
* ScrewTheMoneyIHaveRules: [[spoiler:Although Dancing Rain is an All-Star character worth millions of ''renmenbi'', Tao Xuan hands Su Mucheng her character Dancing Rain to Team Happy for a token sum because of his past friendship with Ye Xiu]].
%%* SmugSnake
* TakingAdvantageOfGenerosity: Ye Xiu gave away his wealth to help unemployed retired pros go back to school and find jobs. Tao Xuan took advantage of it and forced Ye Xiu to retire since he was unable to pay the contract termination fees.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: As the league became richer, his greed for commercial success and Ye Xiu's refusal to do celebrity endorsements broke his friendship with Ye Xiu.

[[folder:Qiu Fei]]

A talented, young Battle Mage-class player raised in Excellent Era's youth camp, Qiu Fei makes his debut in Season 9 using the character "Battle Format".
----
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: As the most outstanding player in Excellent Era's youth program, he's disliked by his peers and is a constant target for their gossip and slander.
* TheApprentice: Qiu Fei was personally trained by Ye Xiu before his forced retirement and was originally projected to inherit One Autumn Leaf before Sun Xiang came along.
* GreenEyedMonster: As Ye Xiu's favorite student, he attracts the jealousy of his peers, who are quick to mock him upon his mentor's forced retirement.

----
[[folder:Wei Chen]]

Ex-captain of Blue Rain and former user of Swoksaar, Wei Chen currently uses "Windward Formation", a Warlock-class.
----
* TheBully: He's so happy after [[spoiler:successfully upgrading his silver weapon]] the first thing he did was head straight to the arena to bully weaker players.
* CombatPragmatist: Wei Chen will do anything to survive and keep his silver weapon, including but not limited to lying, gang-ups, flattery and throwing his teammates under the bus.
* CrutchCharacter: When he first joins Happy, he's easily the 2nd strongest player in the team by far. [[spoiler: An Excellent Era trainee who could fight evenly with Tang Rou and Bao Rongxing is just a chew toy in his eyes.]][[spoiler: The team slowly weaned off their dependency on him as the rookies grew stronger and became able to stand on their own feet.]]
%%* DirtyOldMan: Upon meeting Tang Rou for the first time, the first thing he did was gaze at her body.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: His character's face is a copy of his RealLife face; when the leader of Guild Blue Brook doesn't recognize him, he feels insulted.
%%* EvilLaugh: Does this when he's winning.
%%* FaceOfAThug: His face is described as thuggish and unshaved.
* FeelingTheirAge: Played with; at 33-years old, Wei Chen's skills in Glory [=PvP=] have already declined, but his experience at commanding a team is still impressive, thus it comes as no surprise when he's recruited into Happy for his leadership skills.
* FounderOfTheKingdom: Before retiring, he set the foundations for Blue Rain's success - he created Swoksaar, scouted Huang Shaotian, mentored Yu Wenzhou, and Blue Rain's play-style has deep roots in his opportunistic philosophy. Many years later, only a few senior pro players remember him and no one else.
* GoodIsBoring: To Wei Chen, LevelGrinding for equipment is inefficient and beneath him. If he needs a specific piece of equipment, [[RobbingTheDead he'd rather kill unsuspecting players and loot them]].
* HotBlooded: Despite his best efforts to restrain himself, he enjoys being this even at his age.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Cusses out Ye Xiu [[spoiler:for bringing in a helper to their fight...when he's bringing in reinforcements that sets Lord Grim going up against twenty other players]].
* InSeriesNickname: "Old Wei", to denote his RealLife age as a professional player.
* IShallTauntYou: As Huang Shaotian's predecessor, he's one of the old masters at {{Trash Talk}}ing. [[spoiler:Upon meeting Sun Xiang, he leaves him almost speechless just from uttering a few words]].
* TheLancer: Becomes the ''de facto'' second-in-command to the captain after joining Team Happy due to his wealth of in-game experience, despite [[spoiler:Fang Rui]] being the actual team vice-captain.
* LongRangeFighter: His weapon's cast distance is extremely high, and can easily take out unaware players who underestimate his range.
%%* MeaningfulName: His name means treasure (Chen).

* OldMaster: Post-comeback onto the professional scene, he becomes the oldest professional player in Glory.
* ThePeteBest: As the first captain of Blue Rain, he retired before the team became popular. Post-retirement, Guild Blue Brook's leader doesn't recognize him.
* RagsToRiches: [[spoiler:Becomes a millionaire overnight after selling his skill point guide to Samsara]].
* RedOniBlueOni: The brash, hot-tempered red to Ye Xiu's stoic, tranquil blue.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: When Wei Chen was in Blue Rain, he was allowed to smoke in non-smoking areas because he was the captain.
* SirSwearsALot: It's hard for him not to cuss loudly every other time he speaks. He even tends to ''begin'' sentences with a curse word.
* TalkingYourWayOut: [[spoiler:Does this twice when cornered by Qiao Yifan, and might have gotten away with it if it weren't for a meddling Ye Xiu]].

* WartsAndAll: Like Ye Xiu, Wei Chen may be a legend in the Glory community, but his RealLife tendencies aren't appreciated by Happy's team manager.

A security guard who starts as a casual player, Bao Rongxing is recruited into Happy when his latent abilities and talent are showcased. His Glory character is "Steamed Bun Invasion", a Brawler-class.
----
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: In the AnimatedAdaptation, he goes to the Joyful Flourish Internet Cafe to find Ye Xiu in-person roughly 450 chapters earlier than in the web novels.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: On the surface, Bao Rongxing is the LifeOfTheParty, but he turns into a real threat in Glory and is willing to [[LetsGetDangerous discard his silly demeanor when it comes to PvP]].
* CloudCuckooLander: Outside of the game, he's a GenkiGuy, but he veers into this whenever he's using Steamed Bun Invasion. For example, when Ye Xiu amasses a party to break the record for the Boneyard Dungeon, Bao excitedly asks people for their horoscopes, even singing a song at random.
* ConfusionFu: His movements are unpredictable [[WhatTheFuAreYouDoing mainly because he doesn't know what he's doing most of the time]]. Wei Chen even proposes he should operate Lord Grim -- a character build which thrives on unpredictability -- [[spoiler:after Ye Xiu retires again post-Season 10]]; this thought gets shot down quickly due to the fact that Unspecialized builds rely on lots of game experience, something Bao still has very little of.
* FaceOfAThug: {{Lampshaded}} by Chen Guo, who mentions he dresses like a gangster in his first physical meet up with Ye Xiu at the Internet cafe, except Bao is anything but mean.
* GenkiGuy: Friendly and upbeat, Bao Rongxing has zero qualms about the competitive nature of Glory, often becoming FunPersonified among Ye Xiu's party members.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Averted in the case of Steamed Bun Invasion's claw gauntlet, but played straight when it comes to the Brawler's skills of throwing sand at the enemy and pelting them with a ''brick''.
* InSeriesNickname: "Steamed Bun", after his favourite food and surname.
%%* MeaningfulName: Rongxing means "to prosper and to prosper". Yes. Double.
* PunnyName: The character used for his surname "Bao" is "bun" in Chinese, hence his TrademarkFavoriteFood are steamed meat buns.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: Subverted; he would've picked up smoking from Ye Xiu and Wei Chen had they been willing to share their cigarettes with him.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Coupled with BareYourMidriff, Steamed Bun Invasion's appearance shows off a well-muscled abdomen and chest.
* TheUnHug: In the animation, Bao greets Ye Xiu in their first face-to-face meeting with an immediate [[TheGlomp glomp]], something the latter doesn't expect and is clearly embarassed or uncomfortable about it.
* UnskilledButStrong: A complete beginner at Glory who favors AttackAttackAttack, but Happy's captain and Wei Chen agree Bao only needs more experience with the game to become a viable opponent against seasoned veterans.
* UselessUsefulSpell: The Brawler skill "[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Sand Toss]]" can blind an opponent, but experts already know how to deal with this skill easily.

[[folder:Luo Ji]]
[[quoteright:310:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/concealed_light.jpg]]

A mathematical TeenGenius, Luo Ji is a university freshman and the creator of the "Idiot Guides", a set of highly analytical, meticulous and restrictive GuideDangIt on clearing dungeons in Glory. A new player to the game, he uses a Summoner-class character called "Concealed Light".
----
* AwesomeButImpractical: {{Discussed}} by Ye Xiu; the initial Idiot Guides Luo Ji writes are completely accurate, right down to skills and weapons used. Unfortunately, these guides are a reflection of his idealized view of the game - it requires readers to pull off the same feats as Ji dictates without any mistakes. Newcomers to Glory will be unable to understand these guides, while experts who can comprehend them won't need it because they've already figured out other ways to tackle dungeons.
* DitzyGenius: Despite his high [=IQ=] and strategic prowess, his mechanical skills are downright abysmal to the point of being near-helpless when it comes to controlling Concealed Light, often botching his skills and clumsily moving about. Often, he'll randomly crash into obstacles and other players while simply trying to run around, and cannot properly command summoned creatures to fight for him. Happy's team captain finds it incredibly hard to train him due to his handicap, and Luo Ji is often relegated to having his summons become {{Meat Shield}}s during a confrontation to even be of any use to the party.
* JokeCharacter: Due to the difficulty in controlling the summoned beasts with limited results, his Summoner is deemed a joke and shunned by parties going for dungeons and raids.
* MeaningfulName: He compiles and edits (Ji) [[spoiler:the raw data from Wei Chen's skill book guide. Thanks to his efforts, the guide is worth ''20 million renminbi'']] .
* OvershadowedByAwesome: He's slow only when compared to his teammates at Happy. His speed is still within the top 5% of Glory players at >200 APM.
* TheSmartGuy: Hired to be the brains for Happy's operations and strategies during competitive play in the league.
%%* SmartPeopleWearGlasses
* TaughtByTelevision: {{Deconstructed}}; Luo Ji makes his Idiot Guides simply by watching game-play videos of Glory, but the problem with his guides lie not with his methodical reasoning, but rather his lack of experience playing Glory. Ji never considered variables such as actual player skill and alternate setups for armor, skills and weapons used over his suggestions from his guides. For example, Bao Rongxing has to tell him his character doesn't have orange-tiered equipment when they break the Boneyard Dungeon record because he can't afford to buy any.
* TeenGenius: Won many math competitions as a teenager, allowing him to enter a famous university with a math recommendation at 17-years old.
* ThePerfectionist: {{Discussed}} and thoughtfully {{Deconstructed}} - the reason Luo Ji's mechanical skills are so bad isn't because he lacks the skill, but because he has a bad habit of over-thinking each and every move he makes, a RealLife condition known as [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analysis_paralysis analysis paralysis]]. Ye Xiu notes that the only way for him to overcome it is by changing the way he approaches the game - a difficult task for anyone with Luo Ji's tendencies.
* UtilityPartyMember: He may be the weakest player in Happy, but his ability to process the game's complicated formulas in a mathematical approach prove invaluable to the team.

[[folder:An Wenyi]]

A third-year university student, An Wenyi uses the Cleric-class character "Little Cold Hands". Originally a member of the seventh branch guild for Tyrannical Ambition, he is scouted by Happy and offered a contract on the team.
----
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: When scouting him, Happy's captain warns Wenyi that while he has the potential to be a professional player, he's still significantly weaker than the top Clerics in his guild and has a lot to work on.
* BrutalHonesty: When Happy's captain and owner are scouting him, Wenyi immediately tries to counter their offer by showing just how familiar he is about the professional Glory scene and the requirements a team contract signing will entail, quickly exposing the owner as an amateur in the business. [[spoiler:Ye Xiu has to resort to [[HoistByHisOwnPetard doing the same thing]] in order to have Wenyi even consider joining Team Happy]].
* CannonFodder: Is considered this in the Tyrannical Ambition guild, but he's slowly training to get better after joining Happy.
* CrossPlayer: After receiving a female Cleric avatar from a friend, Wenyi just went with it.
* FanBoy: Like most Tyrannical Ambition Clerics, his admiration for Zhang Xinjie is on the level of hero worship. Just a simple compliment by Xinjie is enough to send his morale skyrocketing.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: He's slow only when compared to his teammates at Happy. His speed is still within the top 5% of Glory players at >200 APM.
* SmallNameBigEgo: His ego gets not-so-subtly displayed after he's scouted by Team Happy, with him believing because he's being scouted, he must therefore be someone special. Happy's captain has to remind him he's not that good yet and requires training.
* StrongButUnskilled: His natural talent at healing is limited by his weakness in performing other tasks - if he's required to do nothing more than stand in one spot and heal allies, Wenyi is one of the best Clerics around; however, if the unexpected occurs and he has to play by ear, Wenyi's lack of skills in other areas become evident.
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: Wenyi's just 20 years-old, but is easily the most level-headed member in Happy, [[spoiler:a boon for Ye Xiu, since as team captain, he can worry about him the least]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mo Fan]]

An infamous [[RobbingTheDead scrap picker]] in the Heavenly Domain, Mo Fan uses "Deception", a Ninja-class character.
----
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Played with; when he initially refuses to join Happy, the team captain's solution is to hunt and kill him repeatedly until he finally relents.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Mo Fan balks at the idea of attacking players at full health and looting them, comparing it to outright robbery. However, he has no problem killing an almost dead player for more loot.
* IfIWantedYouDead: His notoriety came from his ability to escape mobs of pursuers while scrap picking. He eventually learns that his survivability is only because the guilds think of him as only an annoyance rather than a real threat.
* InSeriesNickname: He gained the monniker "[[RedBaron God Killer]]" after [[spoiler:managing to kill Huang Shaotian and Sun Xiang in the Pro Alliance]].
* IWorkAlone: Due to the dirty nature of his pasttime, he starts out insisting on being a lone wolf. [[spoiler:Mo Fan doesn't appreciate it when he's forced to team up with Ye Xiu while escaping pursuit from no less than three angry guilds]].
* OneSteveLimit: Subverted; he shares the same name as Qiao Yifan, [[spoiler:his teammate in Happy]].
* RobbingTheDead: His ''modus operandi'' at the start is to steal precious equipment from players' corpses, often from victims of world [=PvP=] or Wild Bosses. What differentiates him from other scrap pickers is Mo Fan's skilled and brazen enough to kill weakened stragglers himself for the sake of more loot.

!!!Heavenly Sword

Founded by a group of rich friends, "Heavenly Sword" is a newcomer team in the Glory professional league, making their debut in Season 9.
----
[[folder:As A Team]]
* BreakTheHaughty: They initially underestimated the professional league, and looked down upon pro players, until their entire team was defeated by [[spoiler:Ye Xiu]] in the arena.
* IdleRich: All of the regular members come from wealthy families, can afford the best equipment money can buy and have the free time to train their in-game skills.
* TrueCompanions: The regular players in Heavenly Sword are {{Childhood Friend}}s and extremely close with one another.
* WakeUpCallBoss: It happened thrice for them. In order to let the team experience what it's like to face the top pros, [[spoiler: Ye Xiu first defeated them easily in a casual match.]][[spoiler: A few days later, he arranged a surprise match with Huang Shaotian, who eagerly proceeded to turn Heavenly Sword into his personal punching bags.]] [[spoiler: Shortly after, they sparred with Wang Jiexi, and were wiped out just as easily.]] Their early encounters woke them up and showed them how much they had to work on.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lou Guanning]]

Captain/owner of the Heavenly Sword professional team and guild leader of "Heavenly Justice", he's the user of "Loulan Slash", a Berserker-class character and a fan of Yu Feng.
----
* BribingYourWayToVictory: Thanks to his accumulated wealth, Heavenly Justice's fame is on par with the major guilds in the Heavenly Domain.
* GladHesOnOurSide: He's the first Heavenly Domain guild leader to establish an alliance with Lord Grim, and is definitely glad about it.
* IdleRich: {{Zigzagged}}; Guanning is filthy rich enough in RealLife to buy a professional team on the spot, although he leads said team's ranks as a moderately skilled Berserker, capable of impressing even Huang Shaotian with his tactics. Guanning is also humble enough to happily accept Ye Xiu's leadership and tutelage, [[spoiler:using it to great effect by ''winning a group battle'' against Liu Hao's team of {{Griefer}}s, which is comprised of Excellent Era's professional lineup, which includes Sun Xiang]].
* LetNoCrisisGoToWaste: [[spoiler:When large club guilds are being flamed for being insensitive to players, Guanning stokes the fire further to promote Heavenly Justice as a guild that stands up for the little guy]].
* MoneyIsNotPower: Thanks to his battles with professional players prior to Heavenly Sword's debut, Guanning realizes early into his career that he cannot win in the league with money alone.
* NoSuchThingAsBadPublicity: InUniverse, Guanning is such a master at generating hype, he's willing to anger the large club guilds if it means promoting his own guild and team.
* TheTeamBenefactor: He's this for Happy, and would willingly go out of his way to help them out with equipment, information and manpower. In return, Happy's captain is also this for Heavenly Sword by giving them assistance with Wild Boss hunts and training them to survive in the Glory league.
* TheWorfEffect: [[RunningGag Every time a new expert appears in the Heavenly Domain]], [[spoiler:Guanning will lose to the player at least once]].

!!!Hundred Blossoms

One of the first expansion teams making its debut in Season 2, "Hundred Blossoms" aims at recovering their past accomplishments in the league.
----
[[folder:As A Team]]
* AlwaysSecondBest: They have entered the finals three times without a single championship to their name; Zhang Jiale was there for all three.
* BornUnlucky: As a team, Hundred Blossoms is given the worst of chances at the worst of times, such as losing three times in three championship finals. On two separate occasions, the team lost their star players with no one to replace them, while their latest star rookie plays the wrong position and they can only afford to give him an ordinary character. [[spoiler:By the end of Season 8, they are forced to sell both the rookie and star Spitfire-class character because they can't exploit their full potential]].
* FanDisillusionment: [[spoiler:After selling Tang Hao and "Dazzling Hundred Blossoms" at the end of Season 8, fans of Hundred Blossoms start abandoning the team in favor of others]].
* FloralThemeNaming: Their founding characters are all named around flowers.
* PutOnABus: Their star Berserker-class character "Falling Scattered Flowers" was shelved after Sun Zheping's retirement in Season 5 and forgotten afterwards because the team couldn't find anyone skilled enough to operate it. [[spoiler:It came [[TheBusCameBack back into action]] for Season 9 after they bring Yu Feng aboard]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tang Hao]]

Rising star of Hundred Blossoms after his debut in Season 7 and user of "Delilo", Tang Hao is currently the best Brawler-class player in the league.[[spoiler:He transfers to Wind Howl at the end of Season 8 and receives new character "Three Hits"]].

* ChallengingTheChief: He publicly challenges Lin Jingyan over the title of "Best Brawler" [[spoiler:and wins]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Zhang Jiale]]

Ex-captain of Hundred Blossoms and user of Dazzling Hundred Blossoms, until his retirement, Zhang Jiale was by far the best Spitfire-class player in the league. [[spoiler:He un-retires at the end of Season 8 and joins Tyranny together with his character]].
----
* AwesomeButImpractical: Jiale loves using skills with flashy effects even though they're easy to read and dodge by opponents. [[spoiler:Subverted when the true purpose of his play-style is to obscure his opponents' vision before launching a surprise attack]].
* TheBully: He admits he enjoys bullying weaker players, especially [[spoiler:Ye Xiu controlling a nerfed Unrivalled Super Hottie]].
* DudeWheresMyRespect: His play-style is often dismissed as flashy without substance by non-expert pundits.
* FeelingTheirAge: His reason for [[spoiler:declining Ye Xiu's offer to join Happy - Zhang Jiale wants to join an immediate title contender before his skills deteriorate too much]].
* IFightForTheStrongestSide: [[spoiler:His reason for rejecting Ye Xiu's offer to join Happy as he feels Tyranny has the largest chance at winning the championship]].
* NeverBringAKnifeToAGunFight: [[spoiler:When Ye Xiu fights him while using a Knight, he defeats Ye Xiu by relying purely on a Spitfire's range]].
* NothingPersonal: [[spoiler:Jiale uses this as his answer when he joins Tyranny upon coming back from retirement; Hundred Blossoms fans don't take this well]].
* OnlyTheChosenMayWield: Prior to retirement, he was the best Spitfire-class player in the league and the only one who could unlock the full potential of Dazzling Hundred Blossoms. Even after an entire season of searching, the team still has not found a suitable replacement to operate it. [[spoiler:The character ends up getting sold to Tyranny because Hundred Blossoms couldn't find anyone else capable of using it, but Jiale, since he joins Tyranny for a championship run]].
%%* RetiredBadass
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sun Zheping]]

The founding team captain of Hundred Blossoms and operator of Falling Scattered Flowers, Sun Zheping partnered with Zhang Jiale, having reached the league finals twice with him and was the best Berserker-class player in the league until his retirement in Season 5.
----
* CareerEndingInjury: He had to retire early after suffering a hand injury in Season 5.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Zou Yuan]]

A Spitfire-class player on Hundred Blossom's roster and operator of "Dazzling Hundred Blossoms".
----
* BeYourself: [[spoiler:After his failure to replace Zhang Jiale, he received a new character and slowly worked towards shaping it to fit his own style.]].
* InadequateInheritor: He's unable to use "Dazzling Hundred Blossoms" to its full potential. [[spoiler:After Season 8, the team decides to sell the character instead]].
* WeakButSkilled: [[spoiler:After a few awkward seasons, he slowly improves and becomes an important player for Hundred Blossoms in his own right.]]
[[/folder]]

!!!Misty Rain

[[folder:Chu Yunxiu]]

Captain of the "Misty Rain" professional team and user of Elementalist-class character "Windy Rain", Chu Yunxiu is the only female captain in the professional league until the start of Season 11.
----
* CrossPlayer: Her character Windy Rain is male.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: By no means is Chu Yunxiu unattractive - in fact, she could've been just as popular as Su Mucheng. However, she was given a generic looking male avatar by Misty Rain's management, which attracted significantly less fans than Mucheng's Dancing Rain. By the time the owners realized their mistake, Mucheng had already garnered more popularity than Yunxiu.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: While Yunxiu is undisputedly the best female player in Glory's professional league, she doesn't have the PopularityPower as Su Mucheng.
* ExtremeDoormat: When it comes to tense situations, Yunxiu winds up with a low win ratio, and is generally perceived to be "soft" compared to other top players in league.
* {{Fangirl}}: Of TV shows like ''Literature/{{Twilight}}''
%%* MeaningfulName: "Yunxiu" means elegant/beautiful cloud.
[[/folder]]

!!!Royal Style

Another professional team who has been with the league since its inception, "Royal Style" was a former powerhouse, but has become a regular mid-table team.
----
[[folder:Tian Sen]]

Captain of Royal Style and user of "Peaceful Hermit".
----
* TheBigGuy: The web novel describes him as very muscular, with "the back of a tiger and the waist of a bear".
* InadequateInheritor: Peaceful Hermit is deemed one of the best avatars in Glory, as famous and powerful as "Desert Dust" and One Autumn Leaf, but Tian Sen's skill level at operating the character isn't as high as the previous generations.

!!!Samsara

* NextTierPowerUp: [[spoiler:Their newly acquired skill point guide in Season 8 elevated Samsara from an ordinary playoff team to a true championship contender]].
* TheQuietOne: Although the rest of Samsara's members aren't as quiet as its captain, the team is unusually averse to talking in general.
* RisingEmpire: [[spoiler:While other powerhouses are either declining or about to decline, Samsara only grows stronger with every season]].

Captain of the Samsara professional team, Zhou Zekai uses "[[TheGunslinger Cloud Piercer]]", a Gunner-class character, and is touted to be the best for this role in the league, earning him the title of [[InSeriesNickname "Gun King"]].
----
%%* BewareTheQuietOnes: He doesn't talk much, but he's still the No. 1 Gunner in the league.
* NoSocialSkills: Despite his popularity, Zhou Zekai doesn't communicate well with people, especially the media.
* OneManArmy: The strongest player in Samsara, such that Zekai can reverse unfavourable matches to Samsara's advantage single-handedly.
* TheQuietOne: He doesn't talk much, and his interviews are an ordeal for reporters who have to squeeze out even a word from him. His word count goes up only [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness when he is angry]].
* ThePeterPrinciple: He's the best player in Samsara, yet is horrible at commanding a team, and delegates it to his vice-captain.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Zekai often plays by ear and is bad at communicating with his teammates, such that the team has been held back from winning until Jiang Botao came along.
* PopularityPower: Due to his {{Bishounen}} looks, audience members consider him the most popular player in Glory.
* ProductPlacement: InUniverse, he's the spokesperson for UsefulNotes/McDonalds and their brand of ice cream cones.
* WinsByDoingAbsolutelyNothing: Among male ace players in the league, he receives the most celebrity endorsement offers because the others aren't marketable - Ye Xiu was a recluse, Huang Shaotian is a loose cannon, Han Wenqing is too frightening to approach and Wang Jiexi has mismatched eyes.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jiang Botao]]

Vice-captain of Samsara. Jiang Botao uses "Empty Waves", a Spellblade-class character.
----
* DragonInChief: Because Zhou Zekai is bad at giving orders and tends to fly off on his own, Botao essentially calls the shots for Samsara.
* HyperCompetentSidekick: Botao was made vice-captain precisely because he can understand Zekai's movements and command the team to coordinate with him.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Du Ming]]

Blade Master-class player on Samsara's roster. He uses the character "Feather Mark".
----
* InSeriesNickname: He's nicknamed the “Berserk Blade Master”; however "Berserk" in this case is not because Du Ming is TheBerserker, but rather a reference to his bold, unrestrained fighting style.
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler:Losing to Tang Rou twice during a fan event where casual players can fight professionals; to this date, he still remembers it]].
* NotHelpingYourCase: [[spoiler:After losing to Tang Rou, Du Ming's idea of redeeming his lost honor is to challenge and defeat her as thoroughly and as many times as he can. When Tang Rou is forced to log out before he's satisfied, he proceeds to loudly taunt and provoke her on stage]].
[[/folder]]

!!!Thunderclap

A professional team in the Glory league which made its debut in Season 4, "Thunderclap" heavily depends on their team captain's tactics to succeed.
----
[[folder:As A Team]]
* DavidVersusGoliath: On paper, they're just a mid-card organization, but with Xiao Shiqin at the helm, they're capable of taking on even the strongest teams in the league.

[[folder:Xiao Shiqin]]

Captain of the Thunderclap professional team and user of "Life Extinguisher", Xiao Shiqin is another person to inherit the title of [[TheSmartGuy Master Tactician]]. [[spoiler:In Season 9 of the professional league, he joins Excellent Era as its vice-captain]].
----
* DragonInChief: [[spoiler:During his tenure in Excellent Era, while Sun Xiang may be the team captain, Shiqin's the one truly in charge]].
* GentlemanAndAScholar: He's intelligent, polite and well-adjusted socially. [[spoiler:He even defuses Chen Guo's temper just from his polite greeting]].
* GuestStarPartyMember: [[spoiler:He once helped Happy out with an important wild boss hunt in return for observing them in their training room.]]
* MeaningfulName: "Shiqin" means "to respect" and "time". [[spoiler:As he's getting old, Shiqin leaves Thunderclap to join a potential title contender]].
* PunchClockVillain: [[spoiler:Unlike most of his teammates in Excellent Era]], Shiqin maintains friendly relations with Ye Xiu when he's off duty.
* TheWorfEffect: [[spoiler:The first to get crushed by an improved Samsara with their upgraded skill points]].
* TheyWereHoldingYouBack: [[spoiler:One reason for his transfer from Thunderclap is they're significantly weaker than the other powerhouse teams in the league, rendering Shiqin unable to do more than simply qualify for the playoffs]].

An established powerhouse team from way back during the league's formation, "Tiny Herb" was crowned champions in Seasons 5 and 7, the only other team in the league to achieve multiple championships behind Excellent Era's three [[spoiler:until Samsara's championship reign in Season 8 and 9]].

Captain of the Tiny Herb profesional team and user of the Witch-class character "Vaccaria".
----
* AdaptationalAttractiveness: The web novel emphasizes his eyes are unevenly sized; however, the animation and {{Manhua}} makes the difference not as noticeable.
%%* AwesomenessByAnalysis: His play-style is gained solely through pure knowledge, decision making and skill.
* CrazyPrepared: He would personally investigate every new pro player just for preparation's sake. [[spoiler: He's the first pro captain to invite Heavenly Justice to a friendly match. He also logged in during his vacation to observe Lu Hanwen's play personally.]]
* FailureGambit: [[spoiler:Jiexi publicly loses to Gao Yingjie in order to build up his protege's confidence and support from the fans]].
* ImprobablePilotingSkills: His mastery over the Witch-class makes him completely unpredictable and has earned him his InSeriesNickname.

** "Big-Eyed Wang" as a result of [[MismatchedEyes his eyes being unevenly sized (one is larger than the other)]].

%%* MeaningfulName: "Jiexi" means outstanding hope.
* MyGreatestFailure: In the Season 6 finals, Jiexi lost to Blue Rain due to a combination of player pressure and Huang Shaotian's taunting.
* NothingPersonal: [[spoiler:There's no animosity between Jiexi and Qiao Yifan, but the former still recommends against renewing Yifan's contract to management because he is unable to find a role for him in Tiny Herb. Rather, Jiexi explicitly notes Yifan might perform better in a different environment altogether]].
* OneManArmy: According to Ye Xiu, Tiny Herb's performance depends solely on how well Jiexi carries the team.
* TheSmartGuy: Though he does not hold the title, Jiexi has the skills to keep up with the four Master Tacticians of Glory.
* TheyWereHoldingYouBack: {{Inverted}}; Jiexi had to change his Magician play-style due to his teammates' inability to keep up with it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Deng Fusheng]]

An all-star player and vice-captain of Tiny Herb, Deng Fusheng operates the Knight-class character "Angelica".
----
* MillionToOneChance: Fusheng is a vice-captain of a multiple championship winning team with all-star credentials, something more hard-working and talented professional players have yet to touch. {{Lampshaded}} as he acknowledges this and doesn't fight back when the media attributes his fame largely to what amounts as luck rather than skill.
* [[PeacefulInDeath Peaceful In Retirement]]: [[spoiler:After playing for six years, becoming a two-time champion and getting a seat at the all-stars, Fusheng is content with his achievements that he retires happily at the end of Season 8]].
* PopularityPower: He's not the best Knight-class player in the league, but he's the most popular one by proxy of his association with Tiny Herb, given their recent championship win in Season 7.
* WeakButSkilled: Knights are one of the hardest classes to play and require a lot of skill to operate by nature. However, among Knights, he's not a particularly outstanding player, having drifted through three different teams in his first three years of the professional scene, before he got noticed by Tiny Herb and was recruited.

A young reserve player in Tiny Herb, Qiao Yifan uses the Assassin-class character "Ashen Moon". Due to a difference in skill between himself and the rest of Tiny Herb, [[TheUnfavorite members of the team deem Yifan their weakest player, often relegating him as an errand boy]]. After some prodding, Yifan makes the switch to the Ghost Blade-class with the character called "One Inch Ash". [[spoiler:Once his contract with Tiny Herb expires at the end of Season 8, he joins Team Happy]].
----
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: [[spoiler:A large part of why his UndyingLoyalty lies with Ye Xiu is because he's being encouraged by the LivingLegend and actively taught what to do, whereas Tiny Herb didn't see value in his contributions. Exemplified when Ye Xiu discusses about breaking the Desolate Land Dungeon record - he states his strategy relies on Yifan's One Inch Ash build, but the latter is unsure he can be of help. Ye Xiu reminds Yifan that despite being a reserve player in Tiny Herb, he is nevertheless a professional, giving Yifan the confidence he needs to help break the record]].
* BeYourself: At Ye Xiu's recommendation, Yifan learns a new class to fit his play-style better.
* HardWorkHardlyWorks: Although Tiny Herb recognizes his efforts in training, they're disappointed with his lack of progress to the point where Yingjie is the only teammate willing to train with him. Averted after he takes up playing as One Inch Ash (see TookALevelInBadass).
* {{Keigo}}: Uses honorifics when addressing his elders like Ye Xiu and Su Mucheng, even calling them {{Senpai|Kohai}} (''qiánbèi'').
* NaiveNewcomer: Yifan readily admits his inexperience and naivety; for example, [[spoiler:despite cornering Wei Chen twice in a fight, he still gets fooled into allowing him to escape]].
* NiceGuy: He's extremely polite and greets his seniors by name, if possible. HilarityEnsues when he [[spoiler:unwittingly causes chaos by greeting a disguised Sun Xiang and Xiao Shiqin within earshot of a crowd of Excellent Era fans]].
* OneSteveLimit: Subverted; he shares the same name as Mo Fan, [[spoiler:his teammate at Happy]].
* OvershadowedByAwesome: According to Ye Xiu, Yifan's game foundations and knowledge are solid and he's a good player; the problem arises when he's unfavorably weaker when compared to his teammates at Tiny Herb. This is seen when Tang Rou trains with Tiny Herb members in [=PvP=] - whereas most of them beat Tang Rou in under a minute, Yifan takes at least three minutes, far too long for a reserve player in a professional team against an amateur.
* ShroudedInMyth: Yifan's an unknown rookie Assassin reserve player in Tiny Herb who has never even played an official league match. [[spoiler:After joining Happy and offending Tao Xuan on his first day, the latter starts imagining him to be a lot more despicable and shameless than he actually is]].
* TookALevelInBadass: How much has Yifan changed upon using One Inch Ash? [[spoiler:He becomes the second player on Glory's tenth server to reach the Heavenly Domain, the first being Ye Xiu]].

[[folder:Liu Xiaobie]]

A player on Tiny Herb's roster and winner of the "King of Duels" title in Season 8, Liu Xiaobie operates "Flying Sword", a Blademaster-class character.
----
* AwesomeButImpractical: On paper, he's the fastest Blademaster user in the league; like Lu Hanwen, he can create up to eight shadow clones, but doesn't have the skill to properly control them.
* ButtonMashing: He's incapable of controlling his hand speed and has to resort to this a lot.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: He won the most individual fights in Season 8 and received the King of Duels epitaph, but he still pales in comparison to his fellow Blademaster player, Huang Shaotian.

Captain of Tyranny and user of Striker-class character "Desert Dust", Han Wenqing is TheRival to Ye Xiu since the start of the professional league. When the first server of Glory was opened, his win ratio in the [=PvP=] arena was 100%, with the streak ended by Ye Xiu, cementing their rivalry on and off the professional scene.
----
* AttackAttackAttack: His [=PvP=] technique involves going fully on the offensive from the start, using a SuperArmor skill to press forward and launch a continuous string of precisely-aimed attacks to [[CrossCounter meet the opponent's offense at the same time without being hit-stunned in the process]]. [[spoiler:He eventually finds this method may no longer suit him due to his advancing age, which leads him to try and switch his method around more]].
* CaptainSmoothAndSergeantRough: {{Inverted}}; Wenqing's competitive attitude makes him incredibly rough, scary and hard to approach. Even Tyranny's management finds it difficult to argue with him.
* {{Determinator}}: Despite victory in matches being impossible, Wenqing will still charge forward to try and go down fighting.
* FeelingTheirAge: During an early appearance, he is shown practicing mobility drills with his character and failing at the last obstacle. It's noted that his reflexes have been deteriorating recently and he may not be able to continue using his signature offensive style for much longer. [[spoiler:This forces him to try and pursue a new, more tactical method of using his Striker for future competitions]].
* LastOfHisKind: After Ye Xiu's retirement, Han Wenqing is the only one left from the first generation of professional Glory players.
* MeaningfulName: Crosses with IronicName - "Wenqing" means "scholarly and pure/unclouded", but the Striker-class is martial arts-based (Wu) rather than studious (Wen)

* AmbiguousDisorder: Given his ScheduleFanatic traits, and the animation showcasing how meticulously he eats a meal, all signs point towards a form of obssessive-compulsive disorder; neither the animation or web novel confirms this.
* CaptainSmoothAndSergeantRough: {{Inverted}}; any time Han Wenqing yells at Tyranny players for making mistakes, Xinjie comforts them and gives them pointers without raising his voice.
%%* CombatMedic: Even as a cleric, he can go on the offensive too.

The first "in-person" confrontation Ye Xiu has with him and the other guilds show him as dead before they can even get serious with the boss. The animation doesn't do him much justice either, showing him as easily moved to tears and constantly shoved off his account so Wang Jiexi can take over as incognito. He also becomes a common target of Ye Xiu's bullying.

[[folder:Spoiler Characters]]

To avoid redundancy, spoilers are unmarked for the following characters.

!Su Muqiu

Su Mucheng's older brother and Ye Xiu's best friend, Su Muqiu was the original user of Dancing Rain and created the "Evil Annihilation" weapon for One Autumn Leaf and the Myriad Manifestation Umbrella - both weapons were given to Ye Xiu, though the latter was kept unused until he created Lord Grim. Muqiu serves as the primary motivation for Ye Xiu and Su Mucheng to enter the competitive scene, and is what keeps Ye dedicated towards regaining his position at the top of the professional league.
----
* CrossPlayer: {{Invoked}}; Muqiu made Dancing Rain female to annoy his sister, but kept her into his competitive days.
%%* {{Determinator}}: Rarely discouraged.
* MeaningfulName: "Qiu" means "autumn"; Muqiu's research skills were crucial in making One Autumn Leaf the strongest Battle Mage in the league.
* PosthumousCharacter: He's been dead for almost ten years when ''The King's Avatar'' begins.
* {{Retirony}}: Inverted; Muqiu was killed in a car crash a few days ''after'' signing Dancing Rain when the league was scouting the first batch of players for the professional league.
* TeenGenius: Was an amazing silver-tier weapon researcher in his teens. Years after his death, his silver weapons are still being used in the league.
* WalkingSpoiler: His existence explains how Ye Xiu got into Glory's competitive teams and how One Autumn Leaf and Lord Grim's weapons are specifically tailored to both characters.

!Ye Qiu

Ye Xiu's younger twin brother, Ye Qiu's identity was stolen when Ye Xiu needed to register for the Glory professional league.
----
* CantHoldHisLiquor: It's in the family genes; he's knocked out cold for several hours after only a few glasses.
* DysfunctionalFamily: Dysfunctional enough that Ye Xiu ran away from home to play Glory profesionally.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Initially shown to be a lot more polite and helpful than Ye Xiu; this is exemplified by the fact that whereas Xiu ran away from home, Qiu chose to remain behind. Turned on its head when Ye Qiu was the one who originally wanted to run away, but Ye Xiu beat his brother to the punch by ''making off with his luggage'', thereby forcing him to stay at home. Ultimately {{Inverted}} when Ye Qiu reveals [[DidntThinkThisThrough he never had any solid life goals at the time]] - Ye Xiu's [[TheScapegoat pre-emptive actions]] saved his brother from a life of potential misery. Even after ten years, however, Ye Qiu still intends to leave the family.
* MeaningfulName: "Qiu" also means "autumn"; the other reason Ye Xiu named One Autumn Leaf is because he wanted to honor his brother.
* WalkingSpoiler: Ye Xiu's second motivation for getting back to the top and why he insists on hanging onto his brother's name as a psuedonym in the professional scene.

!Joyful Flourish Internet Cafe

[[folder:Ye Xiu]]
[[quoteright:190:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ye_xiu.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:250:[[labelnote:Click here]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/one_autumn_leaf.jpg[[/labelnote]] to see One Autumn Leaf]]
[[caption-width-right:350:[[labelnote:Click here]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lord_grim.jpg[[/labelnote]] to see Lord Grim]]

* OnlyInItForTheMoney: {{Zigzagged}}

----
* DudeWheresMyRespect

[[folder:Yu Wenzhou]]

[[caption-width-right:225:[[labelnote:Click here]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/swoksaar.jpg[[/labelnote]] to see Swoksaar]]

[[folder:Huang Shaotian]]
[[quoteright:225:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shaotian.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:341:[[labelnote:Click here]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/troubling_rain.jpg[[/labelnote]] to see Troubling Rain]]

[[/folder]]

[[/folder]]

This allowed him to bide his time finding a replacement for Ye Xiu without causing a gigantic public relations disaster; Sun Xiang appearing on the scene merely served as the final lynchpin for kicking Ye Xiu out]].

* IfIWantedYouDead: Also a {{Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming}} to Ye Xiu.

* TheLancer: Becomes the ''de facto'' second-in-command to the captain after joining Team Happy due to his wealth of in-game experience, despite [[spoiler:Fang Rui]] being the actual team vice-captain.

* ObsoleteMentor: Before his first retirement, he was this to Huang Shaotian and Yu Wenzhou, and had a lasting influence on their current play-styles.

* VillainWithGoodPublicity: [[spoiler:He's this as the leader of Guild Samsara's second elite team by painting himself as a kindly figure who comforts the guild members after their failures in Wild Boss hunts, right after manipulating events to Ye Xiu's favor]].
* WartsAndAll: Like Ye Xiu, Wei Chen may be a legend in the Glory community, but his RealLife tendencies aren't appreciated by Happy's team manager.
* YankTheDogsChain: This is one of his bullying methods. He would play to his opponent's level, and win only by a slight margin to provide a glimmer of hope and encourage the opponent to try again. The process repeats until his opponent surrenders.

[[caption-width-right:350:[[labelnote:Click here]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/steamedbuninvasion.jpg[[/labelnote]] to see Steamed Bun Invasion]]

[[/folder]]

* {{Fangirl}}: Of TV shows like ''Literature/{{Twilight}}''
%%* MeaningfulName: "Yunxiu" means elegant/beautiful cloud.

[[/folder]]

!!!Tyranny
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tyranny_5.png]]

A headlining powerhouse from the start of the professional league in Season 1, "Tyranny" stands with its biggest accomplishment being the Season 4 champions, ending Excellent Era's three-year championship reign.
----
[[folder:As A Team]]
* AttackAttackAttack: As a team led by the aggressive Han Wenqing, this is their standard strategy in matches.
* BribingYourWayToVictory: Even by Glory league standards, Tyranny is incredibly rich and very willing to spend big to win. [[spoiler:After unceremoniously losing in the first round of the Season 8 playoffs, they splurge 17 million ''renmenbi'' on the transfer market to make one more push at the championship]].
* RetiredBadassRoundup: [[spoiler:As of Season 9, Lin Jingyan shelves his retirement plans and Zhang Jiale returns from retirement to join Tyranny. Together with Han Wenqing, the three of them are the oldest star players in the league post-Ye Xiu's retirement]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Han Wenqing]]
[[quoteright:225:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wenqing.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:265:[[labelnote:Click here]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/desert_dust.jpg[[/labelnote]] to see Desert Dust]]

Captain of Tyranny and user of Striker-class character "Desert Dust", Han Wenqing is TheRival to Ye Xiu since the start of the professional league. Wenqing's approach to combat, coupled with his experience and skill with a Striker, has earned him the monniker "Fist King".
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler:When Lou Guanning suffered from stage fright and fought badly against Huang Shaotian in the presence of many pro players, he and Yu Wenzhou were the only spectators to express sympathy with Guanning's situation.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Zhang Xinjie's blue, the analytical and far more methodical vice-captain of Tyranny.
* ShoutOut: Desert Dust is a reference to "De_Dust", one of the most popular maps in ''VideoGame/CounterStrike''.
* TheRival: To Ye Xiu, also one of the oldest and the most famous rivalries of Glory of all time.
* YouAreNotReady: [[spoiler:Delivers this speech to Sun Xiang after defeating him in public]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Zhang Xinjie]]
[[quoteright:229:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zhang.png]]

Vice-captain of Tyranny and user of Cleric-class character "Immovable Rock", Zhang Xinjie made his professional debut in the league's fourth season, and is another of the four [[TheSmartGuy Master Tacticians]] in Glory.
----
* AmbiguousDisorder: Given his ScheduleFanatic traits, and the animation showcasing how meticulously he eats a meal, all signs point towards a form of obssessive-compulsive disorder; neither the animation or web novel confirms this.
* TheCreon: An overenthusiastic fan once addressed him as "Captain Zhang"; his immediate reply was "It should be vice-captain".
* NewcomerSavesTheDay: In his rookie season, Xinjie's contributions led to Tyranny winning the Season 4 championship, ending Excellent Era's three-year reign in the league. MeaningfulName ensues as "Xinjie" means "new and outstanding".
* PunchClockVillain: [[spoiler:He and Ye Xiu are constant thorns in each other's sides during the off-season Wild Boss hunts. They eventually decide to log in and out during different hours in order to avoid each other as much as possible and get some sleep]].
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Han Wenqing's red, the hardened, tough-to-approach team captain.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: [[spoiler:He's the only high-ranked professional player who willingly participates in off-season guild activities to strengthen his team]].
* ScheduleFanatic: Will never deviate from his schedule, especially sleeping at midnight on the dot.
%%* SmartPeopleWearGlasses
* WhenTheClockStrikesTwelve: He's well-known for sleeping precisely at midnight. [[spoiler:Turned against him when Xinjie starts participating in off-season Wild Boss hunts - instead of challenging him head on, Ye Xiu just decides to wait until he goes to sleep]].
%%* WhiteMage: His character is a Cleric.

Named after the Chinese translation of ''Literature/WutheringHeights'', "Wind Howl" is a professional team.
----
[[folder:Lin Jingyan]]

Captain of Wind Howl and user of Brawler-class character "Three Hits", Lin Jingyan was touted as the best of the class in the league during his prime.[[spoiler:He transfers to Tyranny at the end of Season 8]].
----
* ChallengingTheChief: {{Inverted}}; he publicly accepts Tang Hao's challenge over the title of "Best Brawler" [[spoiler:and loses]].
* CombatPragmatist: He may be nice and polite, but he's also willing to play dirty thanks to Fang Rui's [[ToxicFriendInfluence influence]] on him.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: After seven years of faithfully playing for Wind Howl, [[spoiler:his declining skills leave him widely ridiculed and mocked by the fans who want him out; this culminates with his transfer to Tyranny]].
* FeelingTheirAge: He's one of the oldest professional players and his skills are already declining.
* NiceGuy: Jingyan is generally meek and polite towards everyone he meets; he's also uncomfortable with gossiping about others behind their backs. [[spoiler: After sensing he's no longer welcome in Wind Howl, he leaves on his own accord to prevent unnecessary drama]]. MeaningfulName ensues as "Jing" means "respectful".
* WeakButSkilled: He was just average as a rookie, and slowly worked towards improving his skills, eventually becoming the best Brawler in the league.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fang Rui]]

Vice-captain of Wind Howl and the best Thief-class player in the league, Fang Rui uses the all-star Thief account "Doubtful Demon".
----
* BaseBreaker: InUniverse, due to his play-style, he attracts fans just as much as he does haters.
* CombatPragmatist: As per [[WordOfGod the author's own words]], Fang Rui's signature style is "playing dirty, dirty and dirty".
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Zhao Yuzhe]]

A rising star Elementalist-class player of Wind Howl, Zhao Yuzhe won the "Best Rookie" award in Season 8.
----
* BreakTheHaughty: He enters the Heavenly Domain to show off in front of his fans, only to get promptly curbstomped by Ye Xiu's team in front of them.
* BullyingADragon: [[spoiler:Upon hearing that Ye Qiu was present the battlefield, the first thing he did was provoke him. After getting killed the first time, Yuzhe proceeds to provoke him again.]]

Leader of Guild Blue Brook and user of "Changing Spring".
----
* BenevolentBoss: Comforting his members after they get bullied by Lord Grim is now part of his routine.
* {{Hypocrite}}: [[spoiler:Declares war on Guild Happy under the pretext of harboring Thousand Creations, who was previously part of Blue Brook]].
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Even though he has a real name, the author exclusively refers to him as Changing Spring.
* TheQuietOne: He hates talking and typing, and has trained Blue Brook's elite squads to understand his commands in as few words as possible.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Thousand Creations]]

An expert Battle Mage-class kill stealer in Guild Blue Brook. [[spoiler:He eventually joins Guild Happy]].
----
* AdaptedOut: Thousand Creations does not appear in the animation.
* BlackSheep: Of the Blue Brook guild due to his love for kill stealing, which he claims is ForTheEvulz.
* {{Fanboy}}: Of Ye Xiu, hence why he chose to use a Battle Mage-class character.
* NoNameGiven: This player's RealLife name is never shown in the web novel; [[OnlyKnownByTheirNickname he's only known as Thousand Creations]].
* PretextForWar: [[spoiler:The major guilds in the tenth server declared war on Happy on the basis they have recruited a notorious kill stealer like him]].

[[folder:Xu Boyuan]]
[[quoteright:298:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/xu_boyuan.png]]

Leader of Blue Brook's tenth server branch of the guild, Xu Boyuan uses Blade Master-class characters "Blue Bridge Spring Snow" (his primary) and "Blue River" and is known to be one of the "Five Great Experts" in the entire guild. Due to his reputation, Boyuan dislikes confrontations and prefers to avoid the intricate conspiracies and plots between rival guilds. [[spoiler:When the Happy guild begins gaining popularity on the tenth server, Ye Xiu invites him to be its temporary manager, where Boyuan creates a third Blade Master-class character called "Peerless Looks". He returns to Guild Blue Brook a few days later]].
----
* TheChainsOfCommanding: He dislikes being guild leader with its responsibilities, [[spoiler:moreso when he's essentially coerced to manage the Happy guild]].
%%* TheChewToy: Whenever he faces Lord Grim.
* DefiantToTheEnd: Despite never winning, Boyuan still tries his best against Lord Grim when he meets him in the Heavenly Domain.
* HeelRealization: [[spoiler:The first to realize the top guilds shouldn't be monopolizing bosses and dungeons in the first place]].
* InnocenceLost: Xu Boyuan was simply another player who wanted to enjoy Glory because it was fun, but as he rose up the ranks in Blue Brook, guild politics exposed him to its dark underbelly.
* LargeHam: Capable of this at times; [[spoiler:after his first loss to Lord Grim's team in the Heavenly Domain, the first thing he does is admire himself for his bravery]].
* MoleInCharge: [[spoiler:After his cover is blown while infiltrating Happy, Ye Xiu drags him into managing the guild on his behalf]].
* NoHeroToHisValet: [[spoiler:After managing Guild Happy for Ye Xiu's and interacting with him on a regular basis, his opinion of Ye Xiu only sinks further]].
* OhNoNotAgain: Lord Grim is the biggest thorn in Xu Boyuan's side on the tenth server. [[spoiler:After resigning as guild leader of Blue Brook and returning to the Heavenly Domain, he still has to meet Lord Grim on the battlefield again]].
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Despite having an explicit name in RealLife, narrations provided by the author continue to call him Blue River.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: He's weak in Ye Xiu's eyes, but he's still one of the "Five Great Experts" in Guild Blue Brook, and[[spoiler: can take on an amateur Deception by himself.]]
* PunchClockVillain: He'd only fight Lord Grim when he's representing his guild; otherwise, he'd rather leave Lord Grim alone, and would still willingly help him out if the favor is not too much trouble for him or his guild.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: [[spoiler: Tried to deliver this to Ye Xiu for [[WouldHurtAChild bullying a child]] like Lu Hanwen, but Ye Xiu delivered one back by stating that it was his poor leadership which left Hanwen open to Ye Xiu's bullying in the first place.]]
* TheMole: [[spoiler:Until he gets caught while infiltrating Happy]].
* TheresNoPlaceLikeHome: Not only does Boyuan long for the good old days when he was just a player, his guild duties requires that he stay away from the Heavenly Domain, which is where he wants to be.

!!!Excellent Dynasty

[[folder:Chen Yehui]]
[[quoteright:275:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chen_yehui.jpg]]

Leader of the Excellent Dynasty guild
----
* GreenEyedMonster: He dislikes Qiu Fei for having everything he covets - youth, Ye Xiu's favour and the skill to go professional.
* ItsPersonal: He blames Ye Xiu for wrecking his dream of becoming a professional player.
* RevengeBeforeReason: Refuses to make peace with Ye Xiu even if it benefits him and Excellent Dynasty.
* RevengeSVP: He originally wanted to join Excellent Era's team, but his application was rejected when Ye Xiu suggested to management he wasn't good enough to turn professional. To this day, Chen Yehui still holds a grudge against Ye Xiu, such that he [[spoiler:sends Excellent Dynasty and others who are peeved at Ye Xiu for accumulating records on the tenth server to player kill Lord Grim and his allies]].
[[/folder]]

!!!Four Guild Alliance

An alliance of four minor club guilds - Heavenly Justice, Conquering Cloud, Radiant and Parade [[spoiler:under Ye Xiu's leadership.]]
----

[[folder:As A Whole]]
* DividedWeFall: They're completely aware that their unity is a force to be reckoned with, and that they'll individually collapse if they dissolve the alliance.
* GladHesOnOurSide: After seeing the benefits of the alliance [[spoiler:under Ye Xiu's leadership]], they're definitely glad about it.
* GunboatDiplomacy: [[spoiler:Ye Xiu scared the four guild leaders into joining the alliance. Two of them experienced his ferocity first-hand and knew that opposing him would be suicide. Ye Xiu persuaded the other two while surrounding them on all sides.]]
* RisingEmpire: On an average week, the alliance earns more wild boss loot than the large guilds put together. Prior to this, only the large guilds monopolised the wild bosses with the smaller guilds fighting each other for scraps.

!!!Full Moon

[[folder:Yue Zhongmian]]
[[quoteright:310:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sleeping_moon.jpg]]

An above-average Glory player, the overconfident Yue Zhongmian uses "Sleeping Moon", a Blade Master-class. [[spoiler:He eventually joins the Happy guild after its formation on the tenth server]].
----
* BreakTheHaughty: After the tenth server is opened and Ye Xiu joins Zhongmian's party for fighting the "Midnight Phantom Cat" hidden boss in the "Green Forest" dungeon, Ye Xiu deduces he intends to have the party die against the boss to reap the rewards for himself. Ye Xiu makes him pay for being too greedy by not helping him at all when the two of them are the last survivors of their party; he proceeds to solo the Phantom Cat single-handedly.
%%* CantCatchUp
* InSeriesNickname: "Little Moon Moon", as a TakeThat to his overinflated ego by Ye Xiu, much to Zhongmian's chagrin.
* TheMole: Subverted - [[spoiler:during an after-party celebration with Happy, Yue Zhongmian toasts the team with alcohol, but Ye Xiu drinks too much of it and passes out. !!!Herb Garden

[[folder:Plantago Seed]]
[[quoteright:265:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/plantago_seed.jpg]]

Leader of the "Herb Garden" guild branch on Glory's tenth server.
----
* ButtMonkey: The web novel and {{Manhua}} portray him as one of the weakest of the tenth server guild leaders.
* {{Fanboy}}: Of Wang Jiexi; he's even mapped his keyboard in the same configuration as his.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Like Thousand Creations, his actual name isn't stated in the animation, {{Manhua}} and web novel.

[[/folder]]

!Others

[[folder:Li Yibo]]

A former player for Tyranny, retired professional Li Yibo is a [[CombatCommentator color commentator]] for official Glory matches in the league.
----
* CantCatchUp: He hasn't touched Glory in years, so much that newer tactics in [=PvP=] just confounds him.
[[/folder]]
