* BigFishInABiggerOcean: Relatively anyway. He's a very powerful mage, and he very much earned his role as the head of the MSB...but as the story goes on he's put up against foes that are either not afraid to play dirty to win a fight, have tricks that he could never have anticipated [[spoiler:like teleporting him to what is essentially the spirit world and leaving him there to die]] or are just plain stronger or more experienced than him. That's not to mention the much grander level of schemes of people like Peter that he gets caught up in. [[GenreSavvy Tyler is not unaware of this]], which may one of the reasons he's sided with Peter (since he at least seems to have a plan that won't end with Malsa in flames), even if he would prefer there to be more respect in the relationship.
