* BlessedWithSuck: While all of their abilities are weird and disturbing, Ereshkigal's only did anything whenever she got attacked while Izanami's was ''weaponized cancer'' because her body was covered with strange growths that she could tear off and turn into monsters. Neither had any way whatsoever of counteracting the side effects of their abilities.

* ManOfKryptonite: One observer of the Rickert/Legion battle actually ended up feeling rather sorry for the former because it was a completely unwinnable fight: Rickert was equipped to deal a DeathOfAThousandCuts to enemies with certain types of regeneration and his own skills incline him towards striking an enemy's vitals for a quick death. Legion is a magically created lifeform that is somehow alive while being nothing more than a big pile of floating meat. They have no weak points but are instead a StoneWall with intense regenerative abilities that Rickert's sword was ''not'' built to counter. The only potentially winning move Rickert had was blocked by a flawed assumption: Because Legion floats, he assumed they were capable of true flight and therefore impossible to run from. In truth, Legion is very slow and doesn't have particularly potent offensive ability, so if he had tried to run he probably could have escaped.

* RequiredSecondarySuperpowers: Averted: Ereshkigal did not have any regenerative abilities nor super toughness to make her counter ability good for anything but a single attack. Izanami's ability was just weaponized mutant magic monster cancer that eventually kills her.

Putting Ray Paris forward as their claim to the Sauron Duchy would have been ''even worse''. How is he a deconstruction of a stock light novel hero when he isn't said stock protagonist?

* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: Of the traditional StockLightNovelHero. The vast majority of isekai protagonists are unflinchingly kind and decent people regardless of their upbringing, even if that kindness tends to be deeply hidden. For Van, this is not the case. While he is still capable and willing to engage in acts of kindness for its own sake, he is predominantly very cynical, is clinically insane after the two previous horrific lives he led plus having his third life stolen by a murder cult of evil vampires, the army of a priest who is genocidally fanatical, and a party of self-proclaimed heroes who refuse to admit guilt working together to make him an orphan and putting a bounty on his head starting at infancy, forcing him to engage in guerilla warfare, vigilante justice, and a life of crime to survive. He is also especially vindictive to those who have wronged him or those he cares about, particularly those who are hypocritical about their motives, refuse to admit fault, or both. His moral compass is either entirely pragmatic, or completely alien as a result.

Chapters 254 and 255 go on to vindicate Van's assessment when he meets a merfolk woman who had to convert from Tristan to The Righteous Evil God of the Crimson Sea to survive after Heinz attacked her temple, killing most of her followers, and tried to slaughter her, to steal the Demon King's Mucus Gland, based purely on a noble's hand-delivered note, highlighting beyond any shadow of a doubt that Heinz hasn't repented or atoned, at all, no matter what he tells himself.

** In Bellwood's dungeon, when Curatos pulls of his last, desperate gambit, Van questions Heinz why they waited so long to pull it off, because he's seen Heinz and Curatos chatting, but couldn't hear what they were saying, busy fighting random puppets Curatos threw his way. Heinz does not answer. After mulling it over for a while, Van comes to the conclusion that Heinz and Curatos waited until the most strategic moment to pull it off for maximum tactical advantage, since it's a tactic that's most effective the first time it's seen. At this point, Heinz tries to deny involvement, but Van doesn't believe him, as Heinz has a long, long history of trying to shift the blame for what he actually ''has'' done.

** Thomas Palpapek unwisely defends the execution of Darcia by pointing out that she was only punished according to the law, which she knew she was breaking. Thus, he cannot be blamed. Instead of the usual 'Sure, but I'm going to kill you anyway' speech he'd normally give, he instead points out that Palpapek is a much greater criminal because he's siding with an evil vampire cult and thus by his own standards is due for an even worse punishment.

* HonorBeforeReason: In the Sauron duchy he chooses to execute Ray Paris to avenge his murder victims despite it being spelled out that this is tactically terrible decision. While satisfying for everyone involved (except Rick) the lack of ties to a semi legitimate successor and politician ''does'' come back to bite him: Iris is unable to play politics with Orbaume like Ray, so despite her military victories she and her forces are declared dead and marginalized.
