* CaptainErsatz: He's [[Manga/GetterRobo Hyato Jin]], right down to the hairstyle. Specifically, the aloof but chivalrous Hyato Jin of the 1970s anime, as opposed to the violent psychopath from the manga and DarkerAndEdgier later anime.

* UnknownRival: None of the trio realize that he is alive or that he was behind the invasion of Galaluna.

* {{Expy}}: He's very similar to General Thaddeus E. "Thunderbolt" Ross from the ''ComicBook/IncredibleHulk'', being a seasoned general with an irrational hostility toward the heroes.

* NiceHat: Which also lets him talk to the monsters he sends to Earth.

* NiceHat: His whole wardrobe, really. Brings to mind [[Manga/{{Hellsing}} a certain vampire...]]

* JerkassHasAPoint: Disrespectful he may be by making an insensitive comment about Lance's recently "deceased" father, he's still painfully accurate that Edward's "death" is due to him willingly to cross the other side of the portal out of curiosity.

* RemovingTheRival: Once he loses against Lance in the war games, and losing the privilege of being hand-picked for the elite position of the manus armor, he immediately tries to assassinate him on the following day.
* TheRival: To Lance.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Whether or not he's still fighting in the Mutrani invasion, capture, or dead is unknown.

* KarmaHoudini: He [[BullyBrutality tries to murder]] Lance because Lance beat him in the war games. When Lance steals the Manus armor to try and scare him off, he takes another and they get into a mecha duel which blows up a good chunk of the academy. While Baron receives relatively minor punishment for the fight ([[CrimeOfSelfDefense as does Lance]]), he was apparently never even charged for the unprovoked attack beforehand.

* SmugSnake: He's quite the self-centered bastard.

* VillainWithGoodPublicity: He is well-liked by his peers and does not get punished for his actions by his superiors.

* AmbiguousSitatuon: Only once in the series does Titan itself ever speak. As Solomon himself questions, it's not clear if it's Octus speaking, or all three at once, or if Titan itself has any sort of separate sapience. The voice in question was by Creator/RichardMcGonagle, who does not voice any of the three.

* EyelessFace: His hat conceals his eyes, though it actually ''has'' an eye on it itself.

* BadassBeard: Just look at that thing.

* BadassBeard: He has a large beard.

He successfully tricks the King into thinking Lance killed the hostage and everyone. When he reveals himself working for the Mutraddi, he orders the King to be killed and at the same time he gloats how Galaluna is doom.

* AnimeHair: Seriously, how does her hair manage to stay up like that? And from the looks of her dad, it apparently runs in the family. The one time you actually get to see her hair down is ''very'' briefly when the cheerleaders and she fall into the school pool. Cut to the next scene, and her hair is automatically back up again. Her wet hair comes up again when she steps out of the shower wet and wearing a bathrobe in a motel, and her wet hair is down again but doesn’t immediately rise up and stays down for the rest of the scene. The hairstyle appears to be a Galalunian cultural thing. Baron in episode 8 has this hairstyle as well, as do several Galalunian background characters.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: She may be a NiceGirl, but she has her moments of holding grudges. In episode 3, she gets fed up with Lance’s impulsive training and recklessness, staying mad at him for at least half of the episode. Also, in episode 5, even though Lance thanks her for convincing the officer to let him go via LoopholeAbuse, she immediately ignores it and chews him out for his car race that he did WITHOUT a driver’s license.

* DiedInYourArmsTonight: In “Elephant Logic”, Titan has just been hit right after defeating the monster. When it deforms, Lance awakens and looks up. To his horror, he sees Ilana in front of him, seemingly dead. He runs to her, and holds her head in his hands, begging for her to wake up. [[LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt Of course, because this is only the third episode and she is the main character, she does. ]]

* ItsAllMyFault: As shown in “Shaman of Fear”, she has been getting nightmares that involve her guilt over not protecting her fellow citizens of Galaluna and them being in danger because of her.

* TheKirk: The "Heart" in the Galanuian trinity of heart, body, and mind.

* SociallyAwkwardHero: Not “socially awkward” per se, just used to acting with courtesy and not used to acting like a normal teenager. She gets better over time, though.

* HorribleJudgeofCharacter: The King is shown to have signs of this, he let Baron off the hook, despite the fact that he tried to murder Lance. He believes the Galaluan Commander's lie that Lance murdered the hostages, except the commander is working for the Mutraddi and is keeping him from knowing about the invasion.

* NiceJobBreakingitHero: By ignoring Lance's warning that an invasion is coming and believing the traitorous Commander's lies, he unwittingly allowed said invasion to happen.

* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Though he's a good king, some of the events of the show happen because of him: 1). He's the reason why Lance became rebellious 2). He's also the reason why Modula became the leader of the Mutraddi and 3). He's unwittingly doomed Galaluna when he ignored Lance's warning that an invasion was coming and choose to believe the traitorous Commander's lie over Lance. This would later come back to bite him when he learns that Lance was telling the truth.

He constantly bullies Lance through the school year, insensitively makes cracks about his deceased father on purpose, gets him in trouble, turns his roommate against him, and even gets off scot-free for trying to kill Lance, thus ruining his life. There are no redeeming qualities for him whatsoever, and he's easily the most detestable character in the series overall.
* {{Jerkass}}: Every single thing he does to Lance is extremely assholish. He picks on him, he gets him into trouble, he even has the gall to make insensitive remarks about his father being deceased.

Thankfully Newton helps her realize that this isn't true and she can be just as smart as anyone else if she applies herself.

A fellow classmate of the Lunis family at Sherman High, Ilana first meets him at the Ballad of Scary Marry [[MuscleAngst trying to open a soda bottle]]. They hung out more often after that but their relation is up in the air after she stood him up at the homecoming dance during Under The Three Moons.

* CoolLoser: While not quite a nerd he's not one of the pustular kids either. Illana seems to respect him in this light.

* DistressedDude: He is held prisoner by Modula.
* HorribleJudgeofCharacter: King is shown to have signs of this, he let Baron off the hook, despite the fact that he tried to murder Lance.
