Both Yellow and Blue have debuted as of the fourth season, and Pink's influence has been explored significantly. Even the "Wanted" arc, which took place ''on Homeworld'', had not even the other Diamonds reference her (though a structure that strongly resembles her mural is seen at the end of "The Trial" and in the title cards for the next two episodes).

The third Diamond mentioned in the series, this Gem's existence initially was only been inferred due to differences in symbols in the background of various episodes -- older Gem locations have a symbol with white, blue, yellow, and pink diamonds forming a larger diamond, newer ones have a triangular arrangement of white, blue, and yellow triangles. The season three finale confirmed her existence, that Earth was originally her colony, Rose Quartz and Jasper were both in her court, and Rose shattered her to liberate the Earth. Her death still deeply influences most of Blue Diamond's actions, who spent centuries in a perpetual state of grief and depression and who still looks after the Human Zoo in her memory. Seemingly subverted with Yellow Diamond, who never openly grieves and tries to convince Blue Diamond to stop, but it becomes patently clear that she's just repressing her emotions to an extremely unhealthy degree and is just as broken over Pink Diamond as Blue Diamond is.

They also appear to co-rule the Gem empire fairly harmoniously, with no signs of rivalry or power struggles.

* AmbiguouslyEvil: How evil she ''actually'' was is still anyone's guess, as her genuine personality hasn't been explored in any meaningful detail, meaning she could have been anything from a tyrannical overlord, to a WellIntentionedExtremist, to a sacrificial lamb. -> '''Peridot:''' Oh! I don't know what the others have told you, but there's a reason the Diamonds are in charge.\\
'''Steven:''' Why's that?\\
'''Peridot:''' They're objectively better than us. Every Gem has their strengths and weaknesses, but not them. They're absolutely, totally, completely flawless beings!

A particular group of three to four distinguished Gems that command everything on Homeworld and other Gem-controlled planets. They consist of Yellow Diamond, Blue Diamond, Pink Diamond, and a white diamond [[NoNameGiven not mentioned by name]].
----
* ArcSymbol: It's their [[SymbolMotifClothing motif]] of the Homeworld Gems being associated with diamond patterns as opposed to the five-pointed star that the Crystal Gems are associated with.
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: The two ones that have been shown onscreen are about 50 feet tall.
* AwesomeMcCoolname: The word "diamond" is from the ancient Greek word for "unbreakable." This derives from the fact that diamonds are the hardest natural formation of carbon.
* BadBoss: Both of the ones shown so far. This has ''really'' bit them in the butt, since all of the known Crystal Gems save Amethyst (and it's implied that Amethyst would have been mistreated for being 'defective') [[MistreatmentInducedBetrayal defected partially because of their mistreatment]], and the reason Holly Blue Agate didn't report that the Crystal Gems had shown up and rescued Greg was because she knew [[YouHaveFailedMe what the Diamonds' reaction to her failure would be]].
* BerserkButton: As would be expected for beings that created a species to make a galaxy-spanning empire, [[{{Pride}} they have no tolerance]] for any insubordination and disrespect.
* BeautyIsBad: All the Diamonds we've seen so far are very beautiful, but also AxCrazy, uncaring, and ''very'' petty.
* BigBadDuumvirate: They are collectively the leaders of Homeworld.
* BrokenPedestal: They're nowhere as perfect as their subjects believe them to be.
* ChekhovsGunman: The mural in "Serious Steven" was a big clue about their existence.
* CultOfPersonality: All of the Homeworld Gems literally live to serve them. Peridot expresses confidence that they're literally perfect, and she's probably not alone. This is seen a beat more frighteningly at the end of Season 3 where several Gems show the detrimental effects on someone's sanity this can have and how fanatical they are to their Diamonds despite the Diamonds clearly not returning their devotion.
* ColourfulThemeNaming: Yellow, Blue, and Pink are known, while background images imply that there's a White, covering four common colors of diamonds in real life. When speaking to each other, they exclusively use their colors as given names.
* CoolStarship: At least Blue and Yellow have personal starships that are Peridot's warship taken UpToEleven, both of which are shaped like gigantic arms.
* TheDreaded: The Crystal Gems are afraid of Homeworld in general, so it's not surprisingly that their leaders elicit the same reaction.
* DroneOfDread: The {{Leitmotif}} of each of the members is [[https://soundcloud.com/aivisura/steven-universe-blue-diamond a distinct rising and falling synth rhythm that slowly builds in volume before ebbing away again]], showing their cold and stoic demeanor. [[https://twitter.com/surasshu/status/685538183501721600 It's made to sound "non-musical"]] and manages to be both relaxing and chilling.
* EmotionsVsStoicism: Blue Diamond clings to the past and her memories of the lost Pink Diamond, preserving everything that once belonged to her, while Yellow Diamond wants to erase everything associated with Pink Diamond in an effort to let go of her grief and put her feelings behind her.
-->'''Yellow Diamond:''' ''[[VillainSong (singing)]]'' [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes Yes, of course we still love her]], [[TheLostLenore And we're always thinking of her]]. But now there's nothing we can do. So tell me, what's the use of feeling, Blue?
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: They seem to genuinely love and respect each other as sisters, if no one else. Blue Diamond and Yellow Diamond genuinely miss Pink Diamond and Yellow Diamond spends most of her screen time in "That Will Be All" trying to snap Blue Diamond out of her depression, telling her to cope and move forwards, even though Blue's attitude clearly annoys her. They also appear to co-rule the Gem empire fairly harmoniously, with no signs of rivalry or power struggles.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: As much as they prefer being treated respectfully, Holly Blue's blatant brown-nosing in "That Will Be All" clearly annoys both Blue and Yellow Diamond.
* EvilIsBigger: If Blue and Yellow Diamond are of any indication, and assuming Yellow Diamond's Pearl is about the same size as Pearl, the members of the Diamond Authority are at least a couple stories tall.
* EvilIsPetty: Every insult to them is considered treachery and punished by shattering, for a start.
* EvilOverlord: {{Downplayed|Trope}}, since there are three of them sharing the leadership. However, it's ''only'' downplayed in that way, as they're genocidal {{Galactic Conqueror}}s and PlanetLooters, whose oppressive regime forces entire Gem types like Pearls and Bismuths [[ServantRace into lifelong slavery]]. The two members of the group shown onscreen both also have a [[BadBoss habit of trying to kill their minions for petty slights]] and view them as [[WeHaveReserves completely expendable]].
* EvilMatriarch: Peridot describes them as "matriarchs". The Diamonds are feminine and the "parents" of the other Gems, [[BizarreAlienReproduction loosely]] [[MonsterProgenitor speaking]], but [[WeHaveReserves they're definitely not optimistically motherly toward them]].
* FirstNameBasis: Contrasting with the formality all other Homeworld Gems have toward them, the Diamonds just refer to each other by color.
* {{Foil}}: They contrast with the remaining Crystal Gems in several ways:
** They both come from opposing social classes and sides of the war. The ruling Diamonds are the oppressors, while the Crystal Gems are the LaResistance whose members are Homeworld outcasts (a taboo fusion between different Gems, a defective Quartz, and a renegade Pearl).
** Both groups invoke the FourIsDeath trope in different ways - Pink Diamond was murdered, while Rose willingly died to create a life (Steven). Interestingly, in the case of the Crystal Gems, the FourIsDeath didn't come about until after the Rebellion and the Diamonds' superweapon corrupted all but four of the Crystal Gems, the main characters.
** They're both dealing with grief over a loved one, but the difference is that the Diamonds didn't have someone to help them understand and cope with their feelings, leading to them dealing with it in rather unhealthy ways. Blue Diamond would be if Pearl never got over her obsession with Rose, and Yellow Diamond would be if Amethyst decided to apply her denial in externally destructive ways.
* FourIsDeath: Whenever the pink diamond is depicted, it's at the bottom of the symbol, visually indicating the "last" of the four, an early hint that she's been dead for thousands of years.
* GalacticConqueror: The leaders of an expansionist interplanetary empire. The Gem Homeworld is actually located somewhere in another galaxy, making them a more literal example of this trope.
* TheGhost: They weren't mentioned much until partway through Season 2, and even despite being the main antagonists from that point forward, haven't had many direct mentions or appearances. This particularly applies to the white gem, who has not made any appearance yet (her existence is confirmed by a mural of her in the Moon base).
* GodEmperor: While not explicitly described as gods, the Diamonds did create the other castes, and are venerated as "completely flawless beings".
* GotTheWholeWorldInMyHand: The Moonbase murals depict all the diamonds with planets in their hands and many more floating around them.
* TheHorseshoeEffect: Blue Diamond wallows and obsesses over her grief for Pink Diamond, doing everything she can to preserve what was left of her dead sister's legacy, including adopting her Gems, visiting Earth at her grave site, tending to her zoo and taking Greg to save him from the Cluster. Yellow Diamond on the other hand has become [[EvilIsPetty petty]] and defensive, pretending to have moved on and wishing to ''destroy'' Pink Diamond's legacy just to prove it. Either way, they are ''both'' miserable.
* IronicName: Diamonds are seen as symbols of innocence and the integrity of moral values. The tropes listed here beg to differ.
* KnightOfCerebus: There is ''never'' a shred of humor when the Diamonds show up.
* LargeAndInCharge: Yellow and Blue Diamond are both about as tall as the biggest fusions seen in the series, and Yellow Diamond can hold both Yellow and Blue Pearl in the palm of her hand.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Fitting for otherworldly alien leaders, they are accompanied by [[https://soundcloud.com/aivisura/steven-universe-blue-diamond an unmistakable synth surge]], [[https://twitter.com/surasshu/status/685538183501721600 made to sound "non-musical"]]. Each Diamond has a distinctive variation of the theme. It's also implied to be based on the sound of the attack that corrupted most of the Gems.
* LeanAndMean: In contrast to Rose and Steven's BigFun. They're somewhat gaunt, and very, very unpleasant.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: They continue to have no idea that the Cluster is now safely bubbled, and expect it to destroy the Earth any day.
* MasterOfAll: Peridot describes them in these terms, saying that while all gems have their strengths and weaknesses, the Diamonds don't.
* MeaningfulName: Diamonds are one of the hardest known materials in the universe. This also makes them the most brittle, so any flaws in them can be used to crack and break them. Blue and Yellow show this by being cool and collected for most of their time, but absolutely losing it when their {{Berserk Button}}s are pushed.
* MoralityPet: If Yellow and Blue are any indication, they are this to each other. Blue is the first character in the show that Yellow seems to care about, and Pink's death hit Blue so hard that she's ''still'' mourning her in present day.
* MonsterProgenitor: The other Gems are seemingly an artificial race of their creation. Garnet objects to Peridot's assertion that all Gems live to serve the Diamonds, but not to saying they were all ''made'' by the Diamonds. They also deliberately corrupted most of the Gems left on Earth, creating the Gem monsters.
* MysteriousPast: The other Gems were created by the Diamonds, but ''their'' origin is a total mystery.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: In "That Will Be All", the Diamonds' [[DisproportionateRetribution extreme reactions to insults and failure]] leaves Holly Blue too afraid to report the Crystal Gems' actions to them, which the Crystal Gems exploit in order to get away successfully with Greg and Steven.
* NotSoDifferent: Like the Crystal Gems, they've also lost a loved one and are still grieving their losses.
* NotSoInvincibleAfterAll: Despite their god-like reverence and [[UltimateLifeForm their people's belief they're flawless, perfect beings]], Rose was apparently able to kill Pink Diamond.
* NothingIsScarier: The attack that corrupted lesser Gems into monsters is vaguely described only as [[BrownNote a sound or a song]].
* OrcusOnHisThrone: Props for them sitting around on actual thrones.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: At least when several are together, they're able to corrupt an entire planet of Gems by themselves.
* PlanetLooters: Through their order it's implied that they've colonized a countless number of planets in the past for their resources and they planned to do the same with Earth before the rebellion had happened. The possible end result, as shown by a hologram in "[[Recap/StevenUniverseS2E27ItCouldveBeenGreat It Could've Been Great]]", would make even [[VideoGame/HalfLife2 the Combine]] jealous of their steady progress.
* ProperlyParanoid: After Pink Diamond's death, the remaining Diamonds poofed every single Rose Quartz and stored them in the space station holding the Human Zoo. The Diamonds feared that another Rose Quartz could ignite a rebellion and prove as formidable as Rose Quartz prime.
* PyrrhicVillainy: While they technically defeated Rose and almost all of the Crystal Gems with the Corruption Blast, and left behind the Cluster to destroy the planet for good later, from their point of view their victory was nowhere near worth what they got out of it. The war cost them an extremely resources-rich world; led to the bubbling of every still-living [[SuperSoldier Rose Quartz gem]] due to Yellow Diamond's MisplacedRetribution; was apparently the trigger for Era 2 of the Gem species, with overall resources at a low; cost them huge numbers of Gems to either death, defections, or their own BadBoss tendencies when they failed to give [[WeHaveReserves their own troops enough time to evacuate the planet before launching the corruption attack]] ([[TheDogBitesBack which may still come to bite them later]]); led to Yellow Diamond and Blue Diamond sinking into rage and grief, respectively, which they still haven't recovered from; and the death of Pink Diamond. The "rebel" Crystal Gems being crushed (and without guarantee [[HistoryRepeats something similar won't happen in the future]]) is, at that point, not really much comfort.
* PsychopathicWomanchild: The over-the-top glowing praise Peridot heaps on the Diamonds, and the worshipful behavior demonstrated by every Gem who has direct contact with them (at least until Peridot's [[DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu notorious moment of rebellion against Yellow Diamond]]) hints at the reason behind this: the Diamonds have spent their long, long lives being treated as near-divine beings, and as a result, they're completely unused to being questioned or challenged, and anything and anyone that even so much as annoys them [[DisproportionateRetribution sets off a violently over-the-top response of fury and vengeance]].
* RuleOfThree: At the very least, since modern Homeworld [[ArcSymbol Arc Symbols]] depict each Diamond of corresponding color.
* RuleOfSymbolism: The positions of the Diamonds on artworks in ruins and murals in the moon base ''directly correspond to the positions of their gemstones on their bodies''. At the top we have "White Diamond", whose gem is directly on her forehead. Both Blue and Yellow Diamond respectively have theirs on their chests. Lastly, Pink Diamond has hers located lower down on her navel. Altogether, they make up the shape of ''one giant multi-colored diamond''.
** The symbolism seems to be ruined as Pink Diamond is removed from the later murals, leaving an unequal three, [[PropagandaPiece causing a desecration of the original gem work of art]].
* SheWhoMustNotBeSeen:
** "White Diamond's" existence has yet to be confirmed by other Gems, although she can be seen in murals.
** Pink Diamond's only real appearance has been on her mural in the moon base, despite being mentioned regularly.
* ShonenHair:
** Yellow Diamond has a [[DelinquentHair double pompadour]] that would make [[Manga/JojosBizarreAdventure Josuke Higashikata]] doubly envious.
** Pink Diamond, at least according to the murals, had mostly normal hair save for how much it spiked.
** A special mention goes to what is presumably called "White Diamond", whose hair is so spiky that it looks like she's constantly a [[Anime/DragonBallZ Super Saiyan (or Vegeta)]].
* SingleSpecimenSpecies: Unlike the other Gems, there seems to only be one of each kind of Diamond, which may partially be to help further the idea among the other Gems that the Diamonds are their leaders.
* StatuesqueStunner: The Diamonds we've seen so far are several stories taller than their Gem underlines, and very beautiful.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: To their servants, the Diamonds are demanding, brash, and cold. With one another or someone else, they are openly vulnerable and caring.
* TimeAbyss: They invaded Earth about 6,000 years ago, but they'd already built an intergalactic empire by that point and judging by Peridot's words, are the oldest Gems in existence.
* UltimateLifeForm: In Peridot's words, they're "completely flawless beings". It's implied that being TheNeedless and their disdain for organic life helps fuel this belief. [[BrokenPedestal This description is distinctly more propaganda than fact]].
* TheUnfettered: With particular focus on WeHaveReserves.
* VillainHasAPoint: Neither Yellow or Blue's way of coping with Pink Diamond's death are emotionally healthy, but they do have their merits - while it's important to move on and continue living, having a time to grieve and remember dead loved ones is good, too, if only for closure. It's how they practice it in the extremes that's unhealthy.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: All Diamonds are regarded quite highly, to the point of inspiring BlindObedience from other Gems, even though their actions and behavior beg to differ.
* TheWomanWearingTheQueenlyMask: Despite outwardly portraying themselves as all-powerful, perfect, and unbreakable, in private, the Diamonds we've seen so far are deeply affected by the loss of their 'sister', Pink Diamond, and deal with it in their own ways.
* YouDontLookLikeYou: In "Serious Steven" their murals seem significantly different than the ones on the moon base (and the actual appearance of two of them), but both are abstract works of art subject to in-universe ArtisticLicense.

->'''Voiced by:''' Patti [=LuPone=]

->''"I don't care about potential or resources. I want my Cluster, and I want that planet to ''die''. Just make that happen."''

The first Diamond to be mentioned and the second to make an appearance. She is a member of the Diamond Authority that governs Homeworld, and may be the yellow Gem on the mural from "Serious Steven". [[ChekhovsGunman She briefly appears in the extended theme song]], and premieres properly in "Message Received."
----
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: Both her shoulders and upper torso resemble armor, and she has a warlike and overtly aggressive personality compared to Blue Diamond.
* AxCrazy: It is clear from her first appearance that she has an ''extremely'' short fuse.
* BadBoss: Although very displeased with Peridot's apparent failure on Earth, [[SubvertedTrope she offers a ship to retrieve her before the Cluster destroys it]]. [[DoubleSubversion Then]] Peridot insults her, and Yellow Diamond tries to kill her for it.
* BerserkButton: Being disrespected is a ''big one'' for her, enough that she tries to murder Peridot over it.
* BigBad: She's one of the leaders of Homeworld, and specifically oversees Jasper and Peridot. It's established there's more than one Diamond who act as a governing body for Gem society, but their eventual plans for Earth fall specifically under Yellow Diamond's area of control. [[LargeAndInCharge She's also quite literally the big bad, being at least fifty feet tall]].
* BrokenPedestal: Peridot's faith in her is [[AccidentalPun shattered]] when she finally reestablishes contact with her in an attempt to argue that the Earth is more useful intact, only for Yellow Diamond to make it very clear that she wants the Earth destroyed out of spite and revenge, rather than for any logical reason. Peridot ultimately turns on her when it's clear that Yellow Diamond won't see reason.
* {{Classic Villain}}: She represents Ambition, Pride and Wrath.
* ColorCodedElements: The yellow member of the Diamond Authority can control [[ShockAndAwe yellow lightning]], according to the "Wanted" promo.
* TheComicallySerious: The more unhinged and angrier she gets, the more funny faces she makes. Although clearly intended to be menacing, one cannot help but look at Yellow Diamond's face after Peridot calls her a "clod" and not burst out laughing.
* ContraltoOfDanger: One of the three most powerful Gems in the galaxy, with a voice to match.
* CostumeEvolution: In her initial appearance, she wore a much longer coat.
* DeadpanSnarker: She definitely has her moments.
--> '''Peridot:''' I wouldn't have called just to waste your time with a report. \\
'''Yellow Diamond:''' You already have.
* DidntSeeThatComing: Her 5,000 year old Cluster is completely derailed and ultimately thwarted by one of her minions she saw as puny and insignificant (who wasn't even ''born yet'' when it started) making a HeelFaceTurn, and Rose Quartz's son, who Yellow Diamond couldn't have even known was ''biologically possible'' at the time.
* DisproportionateRetribution: She detonates the Diamond communicator in an attempt to kill Peridot after Peridot calls her a clod.
* TheDreaded: When Jasper drops her name, [[http://steven-universe.wikia.com/wiki/File:The_Return_261.png Lapis and Peridot]] give [[OhCrap shocked expressions]].
* EarlyBirdCameo: First appeared in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip1eVBs7hC4 the extended theme song]].
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Within minutes of her first appearance: "I've heard enough! I don't care about potential or resources. I want my Cluster, and I want that planet to ''die.'' Just make that happen."
* EveryoneHasStandards: Despite demanding deference and respect from her subjects, she is also annoyed by it, rolling her eyes at Holly Blue's excessive butt-kissing.
* EvilIsPetty: Her interest in the Cluster has less to do with science, and more to do with having it destroy the Earth out of spite. She also tries to kill Peridot by remotely detonating her Diamond communicator after the latter talks back to her and calls her a clod. This turns out to be doubly petty with TheReveal Homeworld is running low on resources. "That Will Be All" reveals that she wants Earth destroyed so she doesn't have to think about Pink Diamond's death and the sadness that comes with it; while understandable, she's basically willing to kill millions of innocents in a selfish attempt to escape her own sorrow.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Like Jasper's, hers are more detailed than the rest of the cast. She has thick eyelashes, yellow irises, and diamond-shaped pupils.
* FaceRevealingTurn: What she does in the extended opening.
* FantasticRacist: When Peridot mentions all the life that's flourished on Earth, Yellow Diamond says, "''Organic'' life," with noticeable disgust on the first word.
* FatalFlaw: Wrath. She is so intent on destroying Earth that she commissions the creation of a Cluster (violating countless shattered Gems in the process) and seeks to destroy Earth in spite of the many resources it could offer to Homeworld.
* FauxAffablyEvil: She seems like a ReasonableAuthorityFigure at first glance, listening to and politely thanking Peridot for her report and offering to send a ship to retrieve her from Planet Earth (though she does throw out some backhanded compliments and insults), but it doesn't take long for her to get angry when Peridot starts questioning her authority.
* FinalSolution: She wanted to shatter Rose Quartz's entire Gem type for the Rose we know of rebelling against and shattering Pink Diamond. Blue Diamond instead chose to spare them, albeit as bubbled prisoners.
* FiveStagesOfGrief: Is firmly in the "Denial" stage of grief, wanting to remove every trace of Pink Diamond so she doesn't have to think about her and feel the sadness that comes from her loss.
* {{Foil}}:
** To Rose Quartz. Rose sincerely valued all life and sought to protect it, while Yellow Diamond utterly ''hates'' all organic life, not just humans, and wishes it to be permanently annihilated. Rose loved and cared for each Gem under her command, while Yellow Diamond sees them as mere drones who are rather replaceable. Even their names are similar and both are voiced by Broadway actresses.
** Also, to her 'sister', Blue Diamond. Aside from their masculine/feminine personalities, Yellow Diamond copes with the death of Pink Diamond by completely repressing her own emotions, destroying everything that reminds her of her grief, and sees grief itself as useless feelings.
* TheGhost: Mentioned by Jasper in "The Return", and can briefly be seen looking menacing in silhouette in the extended intro, but does not appear in the show until "Message Received", the second to last episode of the second season.
* HairTriggerTemper: It's quite apparent that Yellow Diamond has a volcanic temper, particularly if it involves anything related to Earth.
* HellishPupils: Her pupils are diamond-shaped.
* HiddenDepths: Yellow Diamond is first presented as a wrathful, unreasonable tyrant. Later episodes show her trying to be a voice of reason to Blue Diamond. If the end of the song "What's the Use of Feeling (Blue)" is any indication, she's still heartbroken over Pink Diamond's death.
* InopportuneVoiceCracking: In "Message Received", as it becomes increasingly apparent that she's NotSoStoic, she begins shouting to the point where her voice breaks in the middle of interrupting Peridot.
* InsaneAdmiral: According to Peridot, she's more or less the commander-in-chief (or at least one of them) of the Gem military, and it seems to take very little to incite her to use it.
* IronicName: Yellow diamonds are the birthstone for [[WesternZodiac Virgo]], and Virgos are associated with [[TheSpock order, intelligence, and cold calculation]]. When she finally appears in the show proper, she does fit the bill at first, but as her [[NotSoStoic talk]] with Peridot goes on, it becomes readily apparent that for however much a being of logic she might be, she's clearly also a [[RevengeBeforeReason vengeful]] and [[{{Jerkass}} spiteful]] being who would ''gladly'' destroy the Earth for [[EvilIsPetty payback against the rebellion]].
* ItsAllAboutMe: She is shown to be an extremely arrogant ruler who shows no concern about non-Gem worlds and does not care about any valuable resources that the Earth may contain, as long as she gets her Cluster. Keep in mind, Homeworld is currently low on resources and producing weaker Gems as a result. [[RevengeBeforeReason That said, at least part of it seems to be motivated out of hate for the rebellion and Rose shattering Pink Diamond]].
* ItsPersonal: It's pretty clear from what was seen of [[TheBrute Jasper]] that the Homeworld Gems who remember the war hold a certain degree of hate for Earth and the Crystal Gems. Yellow Diamond, however, takes this hate [[RevengeBeforeReason to extremes]]: In her eyes, the destruction of Earth, its billions of inhabitants, and whatever resources that could be useful to Homeworld are secondary to the personal satisfaction of finally wiping the symbol of Rose's rebellion and Pink Diamond's death off the star charts.
* {{Jerkass}}: Just from her introduction it's clear she's probably the most vicious, spiteful character in the show.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Though she's not exactly the nicest and is not handling Pink Diamond's death any better, Yellow Diamond ''is'' right that Blue Diamond can't continue to grieve and obsess over Pink Diamond. She also observes that Blue Diamond is neglecting her leadership duties.
* KnightOfCerebus: Her introduction just shows how vicious she is.
* LackOfEmpathy: She's shown no regard for anyone else but the other Diamonds.
* LargeAndInCharge: Easily the biggest non-fused Gem seen thus far, standing over 50 feet tall. The Pearl she uses as a secretary barely comes up to her ''knee''.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Message Received" gives her a personal variation of the Diamonds' distinct rising/falling synth rhythm. At first, hers is less harmonious and more subdued than Blue Diamond's, seemingly fitting her clinical nature. However, as she becomes progressively angrier and more unhinged, so does the theme, incorporating drums and a much more menacing synth crescendo.
* LightIsNotGood: All diamonds, yellow ones in particular, stand for the energy of the sun according to gemstone mythos. It doesn't stop Yellow Diamond from attempting to kill an entire planet out of spite and revenge.
* MeanBoss: When Peridot calls her, she makes it clear she doesn't care about the opinions of the people working for her at all.
* MisplacedRetribution: Blames all Rose Quartz Gems for the actions of the Crystal Gem's Rose shattering Pink Diamond, wanting them shattered in turn.
* MoralMyopia: Yellow Diamond had no moral qualms about creating a Cluster out of shattered Gems or leading an interplanetary empire with blood on its hands. However, the death of Pink Diamond emotionally devastated her, to the point that she seeks to destroy Earth in retaliation.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: She's so anxious to secure the Cluster that her reconnaissance missions inadvertently ''draw attention of its existence'' to the Crystal Gems.
** Not just that, but her RevengeBeforeReason attitude towards the destruction of Earth (she'd rather see Earth destroyed as revenge for [[spoiler: Pink Diamond's shattering]] than keep it intact and utilize it's resources ''despite the fact that the Gem Homeworld is in critical need of resources'') turns Peridot against her, causing her to defy Yellow Diamond and join the Crystal Gems. Peridot would be instrumental in stopping the cluster.
* NonstandardCharacterDesign: Similar to Jasper, her design is a lot more detailed than other characters, with extra lines in her face and neck (this is especially obvious juxtaposed against Yellow Pearl). This is quite effective in making her stand out as someone important, as well as making her overall slightly unsettling to the viewer who had gotten used to the style other characters are drawn in.
* NotSoDifferent: She and Amethyst both try to cope with the death of their loved ones through denial. But unlike Amethyst, who relies on humor, Yellow destroys everything related to Pink Diamond so she won't have to go through the pain of grief.
* NotSoStoic:
** Peridot describes her as the epitome of logic and calculated reasoning. While at first glance she appears to fit the part, as her argument with Peridot wears on, Yellow Diamond begins to lose her cool, to the point where her voice starts breaking. As mentioned above, she also reveals that her interest in the Cluster isn't so much scientific, as it is petty vengeance against Earth itself.
** At the end of her VillainSong, she comes very close to outright breaking down from her grief over Pink Diamond's death.
* PetTheDog:
** A small note - she seems to treat Yellow Pearl well, compared to her treatment of Peridot. She politely asks her who's calling on the Diamond line and then calmly takes over the call from there. She even allows Yellow Pearl to speak to her in an annoyed tone (albeit her attitude wasn't towards Yellow Diamond). Going back to Peridot, YD was perfectly willing to send a ship to get her before she called her a clod.
** Her VillainSong in ''That Will Be All'' is basically her trying to snap Blue Diamond out of her depression and to convince her to move forwards. She even asks the Pearls to sing to Blue Diamond to help her feel better. It's also implied she genuinely misses Pink Diamond too. And when Sapphire makes up a false story on getting more humans for Pink Diamond's human zoos, she's inspired to come up with a solution to remedy Blue Diamond's grief (though possibly at the cost of Earth).
* PunctuatedForEmphasis: She has a tendency to speak this way when she's losing her temper.
-->"You. Are out. Of line."\\
"You are to leave the Cluster to grow. It will tear apart the Earth, and I will take ''immense'' satisfaction in erasing that ''hideous rock'' off of our star maps! ''Is! That! CLEAR?!?''"
* PutThemAllOutOfMyMisery: Her desire for Earth's destruction is based more on grief than pure disgust or spite; she wants to wipe out anything that reminds her of Pink Diamond.
* QuitYourWhining: Her VillainSong, "What's the Use of Feeling (Blue)?", at its core, is Yellow Diamond's hard-worded, yet well-meaning attempt to get Blue Diamond to stop grieving for Pink Diamond and go back to leading Homeworld.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives a ''scathing'' one to Peridot when she tries to argue to spare Earth and questions her. Which then gets turned on her.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Before turning into a BadBoss. She accepts Peridot's reason for using the Diamond line, thanks her for her report and tells her that she'll send her a ship shortly. Even when Peridot says that she crashed the ship herself, the worst Yellow Diamond says is that she'll inform Peridot's manager of her incompetence (which is entirely reasonable, since by omitting any mention of the Crystal Gems, Peridot made it sound like she lost a valuable ship through sheer negligence).
* RevengeBeforeReason: Homeworld is starting to lose access to vital resources, and Earth could potentially help the empire in unique ways. But Earth is also the place where Rose Quartz's rebellion was focused, and a symbol of what Pink Diamond was killed over, so Yellow Diamond wants the destroyed, regardless of whatever resources Homeworld could harvest out of it.
* ShockAndAwe: The "Wanted" Promo shows her surrounded by electricity and shooting bolts of it from her hand.
* ShouldersOfDoom: Wide and pointy.
* SigilSpam: A yellow Gem can be seen on the mural in "Serious Steven", surrounded by a sun symbol. The Gem disruption devices that Jasper and Peridot use are yellow, and the prison cells in their ships are guarded by a yellow energy force field.
* TheStoic: She adheres to literal stoicism as a rather unhealthy coping method for dealing with her own grief over Pink Diamond, by bottling up all of her emotions and repressing them, and destroying everything that will make her bottled feelings rise up and boil over.
* TheUnfettered: Billions of deaths of innocent people? The opinions of an incredibly loyal Gem who has nothing but respect for her? The possibility of resources and practical potential? Doesn't matter at all. All that matters to her is getting revenge on Rose for shattering Pink Diamond.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: She decides that Peridot defying her orders and insulting her warrants Peridot's [[DisproportionateRetribution execution]].
* VisualPun: She represses her emotions and grief for Pink Diamond's death by bottling them up and hardening her own heart, symbolized by her Diamond piece lying in the center of her armor-like chest.
* TheWomanWearingTheQueenlyMask: She deals with her grief for Pink Diamond's death by putting on a stoic, logical front, bottling up her grief, and destroying anything related to Pink Diamond.
* YellowEyesOfSneakiness: Her eyes glow yellow.

->'''Voiced by:''' Lisa Hannigan

-> ''"Why can't you just let me grieve?"''

The second Diamond mentioned and the first to appear in the series proper in "The Answer". She was at the Sky Arena during Rose's rebellion, and Sapphire used to report directly to her. She may be the blue Gem on the mural from "Serious Steven".
----
* AffablyEvil: Is surprisingly friendly and cordial to Greg before kidnapping him for her human zoo, which she sees as an act of kindness to Greg due to her believing that the Cluster is still going to destroy the Earth.
* ArcVillain:
** She's the main antagonist of Ruby and Sapphire's love story.
** She sets the events of "[[RescueArc Out Of This World]]" into motion when she "rescues" Greg.
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: She has droopy, sorrowful eyes, is colored blue, and wears a long veil. She's in perpetual mourning.
* AxCrazy: A high-functioning example, but for all her stoicism, she is quite quick to [[HairTriggerTemper anger]] and DisproportionateRetribution. It's not yet clear if her violent anger was a result of Pink Diamond's shattering or not.
* BadBoss: Blue Diamond's response to Ruby accidentally averting Sapphire's prophecy (by saving her life AKA the job she was assigned to) and for fusing together with her? [[DisproportionateRetribution Why, smash Ruby's gem of course!]]
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: It's implied that in-between dealing with {{Sycophantic Servant}}s, and Yellow Diamond's attempts to destroy everything related to Pink Diamond and [[QuitYourWhining seeing Blue Diamond's feelings as useless]], Blue Diamond didn't have the time or place to properly vent and grieve. Then comes [[NiceGuy Greg]], a mere human who not only takes the time to listen to Blue Diamond's thoughts, but tries to comfort her instead of dismissing her feelings or forcing her to move on. Blue Diamond takes such a liking to him that she decides to take him with her to The Zoo so he'd be spared the destruction of the Earth by the Cluster, [[DramaticIrony unaware it'd been neutralized by the Crystal Gems]].
* BigBad: At least during the early colonization years of the Rebellion, since she was the Gem with the highest authority stationed there at the time... Or so it seemed, as Pink Diamond was the one wanting to colonize the planet, and it's unclear if Blue Diamond was a permanent fixture on the planet, part of the diplomatic party, or if Pink Diamond had already been shattered by then and Blue Diamond had taken over.
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: When Blue Diamond sees Sapphire and Ruby face to face, she doesn't even remember them as the Gems she was furious at centuries before.
* TheChainsOfCommanding: If Yellow Diamond is telling the truth, Blue Diamond's deep and perpetual grief over the death of Pink Diamond may be causing her to neglect her duties as a leader of Homeworld.
-->'''Yellow Diamond:''' Where's their Diamond when they need her, Blue? You've got to be a leader, Blue!
* CharacterDevelopment: While it's left up in the air how much of it is due to grief, her modern appearance suggests she has changed a ''lot'' since the Rebellion and Pink Diamond's death.
* CostumeEvolution: The moon base mural depicts Blue Diamond with a bare head and darker colored hair. When Blue Diamond appears in "The Answer" and "Steven's Dream", she wears a dark blue cowl and has white hair.
* DarkIsEvil: Her overall dark color scheme and shadowed face match her cruelty and indifference well enough.
* DeathGlare: Gives one to Steven in the "Wanted" promo.
* DeathSeeker: Or possibly doesn't care whether she dies or not. She sometimes visits Pink Diamond's grave on Earth even though, as far as she knows, the Cluster could become active at any moment.
* TheDreaded: In "That Will Be All", Blue Diamond struck such fear in her former subject Sapphire that the latter literally started [[BowelBreakingBricks freezing up]], and had to be placated by Ruby holding her hand in secret. "Steven's Dream" shows that even ''[[TheStoic Garnet]]'' is terrified of her.
* DisproportionateRetribution: She threatened to ''smash'' Ruby's gem, for fusing with a courtly Gem like Sapphire and "letting the rebels escape".
* DissonantSerenity: She's hardly fazed by Sapphire's announcement about an upcoming Rebellion attack, even when Sapphire details losses on Blue Diamond's side. Understandable in the fact that the Gems would've just been poofed, and Sapphire herself even says that she looks forward to seeing her again after she reforms.
* DueToTheDead: She secretly visits Earth to pay respects to Pink Diamond's "shattering" site behind Yellow Diamond's back, and knowing she'll disapprove. She also keeps a ShrineToTheFallen by bubbling Pink's Rose Quartzes and preserving her old human zoos and bed chambers. Yellow Diamond's efforts to {{Unperson}} Pink and destroy everything related to her, on the other hand, is at their core, someone desecrating a loved one's grave and memory for the sake of repressing her own pain and grief.
* TheEeyore: Ever since Pink Diamond's shattering, she's been depressed all the time.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Despite demanding deference and respect from her subjects, even she was annoyed by Holly Blue's excessive butt-kissing.
* ExcessiveMourning: Pink Diamond died over five thousand years ago. Blue Diamond still mourns her death as though it had happened yesterday.
* ExhaustedEyeBags: She has heavy shadows under her eyes that are a darker shade of blue than the rest of her face, ostensibly from grief over losing Pink Diamond.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Like Yellow Diamond, she has diamond-shaped pupils.
* FatalFlaw: Sloth. If Yellow Diamond's song is anything to go by, Blue Diamond is so overwhelmed with grief that she is living in the past and neglecting her duties as a leader.
* FauxAffablyEvil: She talks in an almost soothing manner, but is also indifferent to her followers at best. In the present, she is tearful and emotional, but still hardens when she gets suspicious.
* FiveStagesOfGrief: In the modern day, she's very clearly in the Depression stage and has been for quite some time. It's unclear if her actions during the rebellion were influenced by the Anger stage though.
* ForeheadOfDoom: She has a very tall forehead which adds to her perpetually droopy face.
* {{Foil}}: To her 'sister', Yellow Diamond. Aside from their colors and masculine/feminine personalities, Blue Diamond constantly and obsessively mourns Pink Diamond, collecting everything related to her to preserve Pink's memory, and is so utterly consumed by her own depression that she neglects her duties as ruler of Homeworld.
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: Very queenly (Greg even calls her "Your Highness"), and also very tyrannical. Does not hesitate to order Ruby executed for breaking a taboo, even accidentally while trying to do her job.
* HeelRealization: Has had a partial one. Unlike Yellow, she's realized humanity doesn't ''deserve'' to die and has come to respect them. However, she's unable, or unwilling, to go against Yellow and do more than spare a few of them.
* HiddenEyes: Seems to be a theme with her, as her Pearl, Sapphire, and Blue Diamond herself all cover their eyes.
* IcyBlueEyes: She has droopy, light blue eyes, which can appear [[InnocentBlueEyes innocent]] when she grieves.
* InTheHood: She wears a long blue cloak that does a good job of [[HiddenEyes obscuring her eyes]]. It gives her a likeness to the Virgin Mary when she stands.
* ItsAllMyFault: She blames herself for not preventing Pink Diamond's shattering at the hands of Rose, a sentiment that she privately expresses to Pink Diamond's ruined palanquin while visiting Earth in "Steven's Dream".
* KickTheDog: In "That Will Be All", she treats both Holly Blue and Sapphire with ''disdain'' when they interrupt her chat with Yellow Diamond.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: Unlike [[TheDeterminator Pink Diamond]], she knows her limits and tries to escape the rebels.
* LargeAndInCharge: She's as tall as Yellow, as seen when the two stand side by side partway through the fourth season.
* LeanAndMean: In her initial appearance, she is veiled, ambiguously threatening with long, lean arms, and is perfectly willing to crush Ruby's gem more for accidentally fusing with Sapphire than allowing the rebels to escape. In the present, this is [[SubvertedTrope subverted]] as she is more traditionally feminine-looking than her 'sister' Yellow Diamond with a fuller, more hourglass shape. Whether this is due to Garnet being an UnreliableNarrator in "The Answer" or due to a regeneration in the intervening millennia is yet to be known.
* ALighterShadeOfBlack: As opposed to wanting to destroy Earth for the sake of {{Revenge}} (like Yellow Diamond), Blue Diamond wishes Earth wouldn't die (as it's one of the last remnants of Pink Diamond). In fact, she and Greg have a moment based around both losing loved ones. She still basically kidnapped him, but it was for more sympathetic reasons than spite. This is on top of her developing a respect for humanity for persevering through life despite, in her eyes, being weak.
* LightIsNotGood: Her palanquin, hooded veil and flowing robes offset give her an eerily saintlike appearance. As the rest of these tropes will tell you, she's anything but.
* LongHairIsFeminine: The moon base mural depicts her with long black hair, and in the present day her hair is long, flowing, and pale with a "loop" that wraps around her Gem.
* MeaningfulName:
** The Hope Diamond, the world's most famous diamond, is a blue diamond. Blue Diamond seems to be the direct leader of the nobility. The Hope Diamond is also believed to be cursed and bring misfortune to anyone who tries to wear it, which is fitting given Blue Diamond being ''very'' quick to shatter Ruby, and the fact Lapis (who wears Blue Diamond's symbol) has been hit with the most misfortune of ''any'' other being, Gem or human.
** When we finally see her again, she's in mourning, and is implied to have been so for the past few ''thousand'' years. Yellow Diamond's VillainSong "What's the Use of Feeling (Blue)?" mixes it with PunnyName; it's like being called "Sad Diamond".
* MoodSwinger: She suddenly snaps out of mourning when she's suspicious of Sapphire's (false) claim to have been on a special mission for her. Then Sapphire explains she was taking an opportunity before Earth was destroyed, and Blue Diamond instantly snaps ''back'' to looking miserable.
* MoralMyopia: Blue Diamond had no moral qualms about ordering Ruby's execution, suggesting that she has a harsh standard for Gems that disobey her rules. However, when her sister Pink Diamond was killed, she mourned for ''centuries''.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Has long white hair.
* NeverMyFault: In "The Answer", she blames Ruby for not stopping Rose and Pearl when Sapphire predicted it, even though she never did a thing to stop them herself.
* NonstandardCharacterDesign: Her appearance borrows heavily from the style of Creator/LeijiMatsumoto to give her "[[https://twitter.com/cartoonnetwork/status/826230013519360000 a strange presence]]."
* NotSoDifferent:
** Greg saw Blue Diamond's loss of Pink Diamond as no different than his loss of Rose. Their experiences with the death of a loved one allowed both of them to bond.
** She's also this to Pearl (at the beginning of the series): both are trying to cope with the death of their loved one in the same way, by constantly grieving and refusing to move on.
* OohMeAccentsSlipping: Occasionally betrays hints of an Irish accent.
* PerpetualFrowner: Her eyes are constantly drooped, and she's barely ever seen not crying.
* PetTheDog:
** She is perhaps the first Homeworld Gem to quickly realize that humans are capable of empathy and feeling loss, and she lifts her veil and ''lowers herself to Greg's eye level'' to speak with him as an equal.
** Her desire to preserve Pink Diamond's legacy includes keeping the humans in the Zoo well cared for and keeping the Earth Quartzes and other Rose Quartzes alive (even if the latter are bubbled), both of which Yellow Diamond finds absurd. She also [[DramaticIrony intended]] [[YouWillBeSpared to save Greg]] by kidnapping him and taking him to the Zoo.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: In "The Answer", she flees in her palanquin when Rose and Pearl show up, rather than confront them directly.
* SomeoneToRememberHimBy: A non-child example. Not knowing that the Cluster isn't going to destroy Earth, she kidnaps Greg as a memento of Pink Diamond.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: Her reaction to Ruby accidentally fusing with Sapphire is threatening to shatter Ruby's gem.
* TooImportantToWalk: She's a member of the Great Diamond Authority and travels by palanquin.
* TookALevelInKindness: Compared to her extremely callous behavior towards Ruby and Sapphire for accidentally fusing in "The Answer", she protected and bubbled all the Rose Quartzes from being shattered by Yellow Diamond, and allowed the other Quartzes such as the Amethysts to still be in service [[FantasticRacism regardless of what Homeworld thought of them]].
* TragicKeepsake: Blue Diamond sees anything related to her dead 'sister' Pink Diamond as something to preserve and keep around her. She keeps everything from Pink Diamond's empty throne room and the bubbled gems of her former Rose Quartz servants, to the human zoos and the Quartzes and Amethysts from the Earth Kindergardens. When Greg, a human from Earth, shows her compassion, Blue Diamond decides to take him, too, in order to save what she believes to be "one last piece of [Pink Diamond's] legacy" from the Cluster. Yellow Diamond derides Blue Diamond's habit of collecting anything related to Pink Diamond as useless clinging to the past.
* TrueBlueFemininity: She's a ''blue'' diamond, after all. This seems to be a theme of her and her court since every Gem shown connected to her so far has been blue. In "Steven's Dream", she wears a simple shoulderless, figure-hugging gown underneath a cloak, reminiscent of old English mourning dress. This in direct contrast to Yellow Diamond's more masculine military jumpsuit.
* TranquilFury: Like her former subject, Sapphire, she never loses her composure even when angry, only displaying cold irritation.
* TheUnfettered: She didn't care about the losses that would be on her side. All that mattered to her is that the Gem Rebellion would be over, and Rose and Pearl captured and punished for their actions.
* VisualPun: When we finally see her without the veil, she's grieving, and not only is she ''blue'', but she has a ''long face''.
* WeHaveReserves: A little more forgivable than most cases considering Gems can reform, but she doesn't bat an eye over casualties on her side as long as the Crystal Gems get captured.
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: She secretly kept visiting Pink Diamond's ruined palanquin on Earth at the site of her shattering thousands of years after the Rebellion, knowing Yellow Diamond wouldn't approve of her being in a place where their 'sister' was killed by a Homeworld traitor.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Without the veil, she's shown to have white hair, though it's played with; she was shown to be extremely callous towards Ruby and Sapphire for accidentally fusing in "The Answer", but her cruelty doesn't extend to her fellow Diamonds, who she deeply cares for, and she seems to have developed a sense of empathy for humans as opposed to Yellow's outright contempt for organic life.
* TheWomanWearingTheQueenlyMask: She's highly revered by her Homeworld subjects, but behind closed doors she's a sad and depressed woman who's in perpetual mourning over her dead 'sister' Pink Diamond and wallowing in her own guilt over her failure to prevent her death.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: When we see her in the present day, she is obsessed with her grief over Pink Diamond.
* YouHaveFailedMe: Responds to Ruby screwing up Sapphire's visions and Fusing with her by ordering Ruby's gem broken.
* YouWillBeSpared: She takes Greg with her back to Homeworld to be preserved in the human zoo after he shows her compassion, believing she's saving him from being killed by the Cluster ([[DramaticIrony or so she thinks]]).

[[quoteright:258:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pink_diamond_mural_transparent.png]]

----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: How evil she ''actually'' was is still anyone's guess, as her genuine personality hasn't been explored in any meaningful detail, meaning she could have been anything from a tyrannical overlord, to a WellIntentionedExtremist, to a sacrificial lamb. It's worth noting that - so far - she's the only one that created a Gem type with ''defense and healing'' as their main powers.
* CompensatingForSomething: She only has one small planet in her mural, so of course they made the circle that's behind her head three times the size of the circles that are behind the heads of the other Diamond murals.
* CreateYourOwnHero: Literally: she's the creator of the entire Rose Quartz Gem type, and as a result the Crystal Gem Rose who ultimately opposed and killed her.
* {{Determinator}}: She would '''never''' leave the Earth in peace, as it was her colony. This left her rebelling subject Rose, unable to drive her off the world, [[IDidWhatIHadToDo with no choice]].
* EvilCounterpart: The only other pink-colored Gem known aside from Rose Quartz, and both had their Gems located in their navels. However, while Pink Diamond wanted to turn the Earth into another Gem colony, Rose fought to protect the planet.
* EvilMatriarch: ''All'' the Diamonds are this is some capacity, but Pink Diamond even more so, seeing as she created Rose Quartz's entire Gem Type, and thus is the closest thing Rose had to a mother. Seeing as she's the creator of all Gems on Earth due to it being her colony, she was also this trope to any Earthborn Gems created there.
* EvilOverlord: She was the ruler of the Earth during its time as a Gem colony. This is the reason Rose had to kill her to save the planet according to Garnet.
-->'''Eyeball:''' The Earth was Pink Diamond's colony. Everything was going smoothly at first. Kindergartens were incubating their first soldiers. Big warm pieces of quartz, like this mound over here, were being created from its rich minerals with great success. Then, BAM! One of Pink Diamond's very own quartz soldiers started a rebellion and took it too far.
* TheGhost: We've only seen her described and portrayed in art.
* GotTheWholeWorldInMyHand: All of the murals in the moonbase have the other three diamonds surrounded by solar systems' worth of planets, but Pink Diamond has only a single planet and its satellite: the Earth and Moon.
* {{Irony}}: Blue Diamond [[LampshadeHanging notes]] to Greg the irony of someone as powerful as Pink Diamond dying on Earth whereas the "fragile" humans were able to survive living on the same planet.
* KilledOffForReal: Back during the Rebellion, Rose shattered Pink Diamond as it was the only thing she could do to free Earth from Pink Diamond's control. This is something Jasper and Eyeball are still very bitter about.
-->'''Eyeball:''' I was there. I saw with my own eye. I watched the leader of the Crystal Gems, Rose Quartz, shatter Pink Diamond!
* {{Leitmotif}}: Her variation of the Diamonds' theme down-keyed and funereal.
* TheLostLenore: Non-romantic example (maybe). Her death still deeply influences most of Blue Diamond's actions, who spent centuries in a perpetual state of grief and depression and who still looks after the Human Zoo in her memory.
* NotSoDifferent:
** Both Pink Diamond and Rose Quartz were attached to Earth, but while Rose saw Earth as her home and {{protectorate}}, Pink Diamond saw it as her colony.
** Both Pink Diamond and Rose Quartz found humans fascinating, but while Rose cherished and protected humans, Pink Diamond saw them as animals to collect for her zoo.
** The deaths of both Pink Diamond and Rose Quartz devastated their loved ones for years after the fact.
* NotSoInvincibleAfterAll: Rose managed to shatter her.
* TheOlderImmortal: {{Inverted|Trope}}. Implied to be the youngest of the Diamonds; the murals on the moonbase depict the Diamonds surrounded by various planets and moons, representing the worlds they directly colonized. Pink Diamond only has one planet with one moon, representing the Earth and Moon. In fact, Eyeball confirms Earth was to be her first colony.
* PosthumousCharacter: She was killed by Rose during the Gem War thousands of years ago, but still has a great effect to those who know her: she's the true reason why Jasper is so obsessed with fighting Rose and the reason Yellow Diamond hates Earth so much she'd rather see it destroyed outright than trying to harvest it for resources again.
* PredecessorVillain: She was the original ruler of the Earth colony and thus the first of the Diamonds the Crystal Gems had to contend with.
* PresentAbsence: She's been gone for millennia, but her effect on the story continues to be felt through the actions of those left behind after she died.
* ShesGotLegs: Her mural depicts her with long and shapely legs, and before Season 3, they were the only part of it the audience got to see.
* {{Unperson}}: After her shattering, Yellow Diamond took steps to hide all references to her existence out of grief and desire not to be reminded of her lest it trigger more grief. Blue Diamond hoarded everything she could, maintaining Pink Diamond's Zoo, employing her Earth-born Quartzes, and even protecting the remaining bubbled Rose Quartzes from Yellow Diamond's wrath. It is unknown what White Diamond has done.
* WalkingSpoiler: Anything concrete about her that was revealed in "Earthlings" and "Back to the Moon", including the fact that she existed, is a total spoiler.

[[folder:"White Diamond"]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/white_diamond_mural.png]]

The mysterious fourth member of the Great Diamond Authority, this gem has yet to be mentioned or even hinted at by any of the characters. Her exposure thus far has been limited to depictions in various murals. In both versions of the Diamond Authority sigils, the white diamond is placed on top of the others, implying her leadership of the other diamonds.
----
* AnimeHair: She has the spikiest hair of all the diamonds, and it sticks way up.
* GemstoneAssault: A literal example. The pyramid temple mural depicts her (or a gem believed to be her) weaponizing crystal shards and pillars against Rose Quartz, in stark contrast to Rose's GreenThumb.
* TheGhost: She is conspicuously the only Diamond yet to be acknowledged in the series, and is only known to exist due to her mural and presence on the Diamond Authority sigils. Both Yellow and Blue have debuted as of the fourth season, and Pink's influence has been explored significantly.
* GotTheWholeWorldInMyHand: Her mural in the moon base depicts her with a large orb (presumably Homeworld) in her hands.
* GreaterScopeVillain: She's hinted to be the head of the Diamonds and ruler of all of Homeworld, from the placement of her color on both Homeworld sigils to the fact that her mural is the only one grasping the largest orb of the murals (presumably Homeworld) with both hands.
* HufflepuffHouse: If White Diamond has specific followers like Yellow, Blue, and Pink do/did, we've not seen them yet.
* NoNameGiven: Even if it's not been said explicitly, the obvious pattern in the Diamonds' names makes it astoundingly unlikely that she's called anything but "White Diamond".
* TheOlderImmortal: Implied. Going by the murals depicting the Diamonds surrounded by their colonies, she's conquered the most planets and moons of all (35 planetoids in total), and if the large planet in her mural's hands is in fact Homeworld, it might be meant to symbolize she was the first Diamond, or possibly even the first Gem.
* ShouldersOfDoom: Her mural depicts her with these.
* SpikyHair: Her murals are identifiable in part by her unmistakable flower-like hairstyle.
