* AllLovingHero: He is extremely outgoing, optimistic, and friendly, and stays this way [[spoiler: even after he got accidentally burned by Fennekin. Unfortunately, that becomes Subverted around ''Rare Candy'', where all hell breaks loose...]]

** In ''Dr. Sylveon Discord Gaming'', he appears to be very eager to play a video game with his friends. Chespin happily exclaims that "[[WebOriginal/TheBackrooms there's no furniture in his house]]" and that he's never heard of ''VideoGame/AmongUs'' before. This episode even has a reference to [[spoiler: Mudkip's DisneyDeath,]] which does make Chespin very upset but doesn't exactly jab at his mental health, since he no longer has to deal with the thought of [[spoiler: Mudkip ''actually'' dying as Mudkip was revealed to be a cyborg in ''Wild Oranberries''.]] He later on cries in the corner of his room once he is removed from the game, which is PlayedForLaughs, and we're not sure if he is genuinely stressed or if he's just malding about getting removed from the game. Either way, it's nice to know [[spoiler:Chespin might be recovering after everything he went through in ''Rare Candy''.]]

* ThePollyanna: In ''Typomaniac'', after [[spoiler: getting accidentally burned by Fennekin,]] Chespin still remains as happy as ever and [[spoiler: easily forgives Fennekin for it. This unfortunately becomes {{Subverted}} in ''Rare Candy'', where his mental health is basically rammed into the ground, but then it becomes DoubleSubverted judging by how [[HealTheCutie he appears to be recovering]] in his subsequent appearances (''Wild Oranberries'' and ''Dr. Sylveon Discord Gaming'').]]
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: He not only looks endearing, but is also one of the most friendliest and optimistic characters in the show. [[spoiler: Well, up until the events of ''Rare Candy'', that is. Thankfully, [[HealTheCutie he seems to be recovering]] as of ''Wild Oranberries'' and ''Dr. Sylveon Discord Gaming''.]]

* BewareTheNiceOnes: She does seem nice and quiet at first, but do ''not'' harm anyone close to her. Otherwise, [[spoiler: she might accidentally land you in a hospital. Also, she wasn't hesitant to call Mudkip a "little Water-type fuck!" later on in the episode.]]

* {{Everygirl}}: WordOfGod has [[https://twitter.com/Movieunleashers/status/1258858532725616641 confirmed on Twitter]] that Fennekin is the closest thing he has to an average self-insert, with her (possibly) having a crush on Chespin and all that, similarly to how people ship their self-inserts with characters from works. Other than that, Fennekin's situation is ''very'' relatable to some.

* HarmlessFreezing: Happens to him in ''A Christmas Thing''.

* ButtMonkey: He seemed to go through the wringer in the original 2011 pilot. The dude gets [[WithFriendsLikeThese humiliated by his friends]] for still believing that SantaClaus is real, then he gets into a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown with Bulbasaur, ''then'' he gets frozen in a block of ice.
