* UnknownRival: Up until the third season, Spider-Man never knew who the Kingpin was or that he was unknowingly interfering with his criminal empire. However, once Spider-Man finally becomes aware of him, he becomes a much bigger threat as Spider-Man makes his goal to take the Kingpin down.

Added DiffLines:

* NiceJobFixingItVillain: The Kingpin was so successful at hiding his hand that Spider-Man had no idea that he even existed for three seasons. Then Fisk enacted a scheme to frame Peter, which inadvertendly caused his identity to beceome known to Spider-Man. After that point, Spider-Man became a far more potent threat to Fisk's operation, which was already severly crippled by Spidey's mere presence.

Added DiffLines:

* OrcusOnHisThrone: A very justified example. While the Kingpin is shown to easily match Spider-Man in a fair fight, he takes great care to limit his exposure so as not to incriminate himself with the authorities. Fisk is so successful at this that Spider-Man *had no idea that he even existed* until the third season.

* AdaptationalHeroism: In the comics, Peter started off as a 15-year-old high school student with an understandable chip-on-his-shoulder attitude that was caused by his peers bullying him for his nerdy behavior. This leads to Peter craving for validation and becoming an AttentionWhore after capitalizing his newfound powers as Spider-Man, which leads him into ''not'' intervening against the robber since it's not his problem. This ends up costing Uncle Ben's life, but the guilt of being indirectly responsible doesn't affect Peter as much and he doesn't truly grasp the idea of WithGreatPowerComesGreatResponsibility and is still quite self-centered as Spider-Man during the ''[[ComicBook/TheAmazingSpiderManLeeAndDitko The Amazing Spider-Man]]'' run. While the events of Peter's origin in the animated series are still played out quite similarly, Uncle Ben's death truly has a profound effect on Peter's conscience and he became the AllLovingHero as Spider-Man to make-up for the mistake.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Compared to his comic book counterpart, who was still motivated through selfish desires and is rather HotBlooded to the point of usually resolving conflicts with violence first, this version is an AllLovingHero who will always put the needs of others before himself and would always try to resolve conflicts non-violently and only engaging in a fight if necessary, but even then, [[MartialPacifist his fighting style focuses a lot on dodging and using his foes' strength against them or incapacitate them through his webbing]].

As he's clearly supposed to be the same Doctor Doom from the WesternAnimation/FantasticFour animated series, he normally would have a hideously deformed face between the explosion that ruined it and putting on his mask whilst it was still ''red-hot''. The final straw was when MJ herself told him she was getting married to Peter.
