* ChronicHeroSyndrome: When Halteese is ravaged by Malleta Maletta army, the Cadet chooses to rescue the surviving Halteese army, much to Girardot's chagrin.

* MagneticHero: Over the course of the story, the Cadet gets a lot of loyal comrades-in-arms. Their subordinates follow them to the ends of the earth due to respect for their abilities (or in the case of the Halteese survivors, out of gratitude for saving their lives). Abelia respects them deeply despite her envy of their success, and even after the Cadet rebels, Abelia still has misgivings about fighting them and ultimately throws in her lot with them. Even Luna deems them a WorthyOpponent in their first encounter and eventually keeps her word to Girardot to watch over the Cadet. This works to their advantage when they rebel, as their old war buddies quickly join up one after another and give Arthias the strength to topple Grandall.

* MyCountryRightOrWrong: She still stands for Grandall until Chronicle 18. Thankfully, she joins your side afterwards.

to:

* MyCountryRightOrWrong: She still stands for Grandall until Chronicle 18. Thankfully, she joins your side afterwards. This becomes particularly significant in Chronicle 14, where she's the only one that doesn't find the "rebels" wearing Grandall armor suspicious and simply assumes they're conflicted rather than coming to the conclusion that it was a FalseFlagOperation sent by Strife, who's been [[UriahGambit trying to get the Cadet killed since day one]].

* TookALevelInJerkass: Abelia's second outfit after the time skip assigns her an "Evil" voice set rather than the more timid "Good" voice set she had before, making her come off as more hardened and aggressive toward her enemies.

* GirlyBruiser: Her outfits and hairstyle lean towards being typically feminine, and her fighting style is graceful and acrobatic, but she's also very eager for a fight.

* HyperCompetentSidekick: Hyle is this to him, as he's much harder to fight than Demuth.
* LouisCypher: Wonder what Demuth Beel Zebus Halteese could mean...

to:

* FatalFlaw: Gluttony and sloth. Demuth wants to be a king and reap the rewards of being one, but also was too lazy to actually act on it before his brothers laid claim. He thus eagerly falls for Chester's manipulations, making the mistake of trusting Chester to create the kingdom of Maletta for him and thus scheme unopposed while Demuth himself sits back to profit; by the time he realizes where the real power is in Maletta, it's far too late for him.
* HyperCompetentSidekick: Hyle is this to him, as Demuth; he's a much harder to fight than Demuth.
* LouisCypher: Wonder what
more active threat, facing the Grandall army in three Chronicles while Demuth Beel Zebus simply [[OrcusOnHisThrone sits on his ass and waits for things to get done]]. While the two are fought together as a mid-boss, Demuth ultimately ends up being more of a warm-up for Hyle as Demuth is much less formidable in combat and is fought first.
* MeaningfulName: Demuth ''Beel Zebus''
Halteese could mean...derives his middle names from {{Beelzebub}}, a demon prince associated with gluttony - a vice that is definitely not lacking in Demuth himself.

* VillainousGlutton: Demuth is a very power-hungry man, seceding from Halteese under Chester's suggestion along with a chunk of Halteese to form Maletta. He has his eyes on claiming the rest of it for himself as well, though trusting [[ChronicBackstabbingDisorder Chester]] to do everything on his behalf proves to be his undoing.

* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: Aurelia is the queen of Dalkia, and not the nice one, mind you.

to:

* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: Aurelia is the queen of Dalkia, and not the nice one, mind you. She's entirely driven by greed and ambition, jumping at the chance to gain power in Dalkia by murdering the previous king and eagerly wages war with Grandall to expand her kingdom.

->'''Weapon:''' ''Kingslayer'', a dagger

to:

->'''Weapon:''' ''Kingslayer'', [[DeviousDaggers a daggerdagger]]

* DeviousDaggers: Of course TheChessmaster running the entire war from behind the scenes would prefer a dagger as his primary weapon and be the unlockable bonus character representing the Dagger moveset.

* CombatPragmatist: According to extra materials, Girardot believes that "victory is the only justice", and is known for his cold mind and dirty tactics.

to:

* CombatPragmatist: According to extra materials, Girardot believes that "victory is the only justice", and is known for his cold mind and dirty tactics. However, he eventually changed after becoming the leader of the Parousia Military Academy and began to realize that he was sending young men and women to their deaths, and in the game itself he's more of AFatherToHisMen.

* MentorOccupationalHazard: Girardot gets killed by Strife shortly after he's fought near the end of the game. This serves as the basis for the Cadet's own Alliance against the Grandal.
* MildlyMilitary: Girardots rebellion is basically this; From domestic servants to renegade soldiers, and even children as evidenced by Feofan, he's relying on every recruit he possibly can bring down Strife in the second half of the campaign. Sadly for him, it doesn't work as he, and possibly either Feofan or Rudiger, are killed off along with most of his rebellion.
* NotWhatISignedOnFor: Girardot vehemently expresses this to Strife when he realizes that he's sabotaging every effort of the Cadet's to stop the Maletta and Dalkia. Eventually this angers him enough to outright rebel against Strife.

* NotWhatISignedOnFor: Girardot vehemently expresses this to Strife when he realizes that he's sabotaging every effort of the Cadet's to stop the Maletta and Dalkia. Eventually this angers him enough to outright rebel against Strife. This is also pretty much the motto of his academy, and his last words to the Cadet - to learn not just how to fight, but to question what you're fighting ''for''. The Cadet takes it to heart.

Added DiffLines:

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: He's always personable toward his subordinates, including Abelia and the Cadet, and he first joins the Cadet in battle to give them a much-needed hand against Halteese's defensive fortifications after Strife sent them on a suicide mission. He's also seen sticking up for them against Strife, even as the emperor's commands become more and more outlandishly suicidal in nature.

* BlueIsHeroic: The Arthias under their banner uses blue as their primary color, and is pretty much the only purely heroic faction due to being free from the influences of either Chester or a tyrannical monarch. Additionally, your units on the world map will always be sporting blue character models.

* CharacterCustomization: The Cadet is created by the player through the Create-A-Soul system, allowing the player to customize their appearance, class, and [[HelloInsertNameHere name]] as they wish.

* IncreasinglyLethalEnemy: Her gimmick in her Chronicle 11 boss fight. In addition to wielding Soul Calibur, which gives her RegeneratingHealth, her stage effect gives her increased attack power with every subsequent fight if you challenge her with multiple units. It's not uncommon for your fourth unit in a row to get one-shotted by her stacking attack buffs if you're not careful.

* DudeWhereIsMyRespect: With the exception of Hyle, no one actually respects him. Mooncalf only approaches him to exact revenge against Halteese royal family, and once Chester becomes king of Maletta, none of the soldiers are backing up Demuth, leaving him and Hyle only to slow down the Grandall unit.

* FunWithAcronyms: CHESTER the [[TheChessmaster CHES-smas-TER]]; It's unknown if it's intentional or not.

* MeaningfulName: CHESTER the [[TheChessmaster CHES-smas-TER]]; It's unknown if it's intentional or not.

* TheSociopath: [[AllThereInTheManual According to his backstory]], Chester lacks concrete desires or goals and isn't fulfilled by his accomplishments for more than a moment, and so decided that manipulating the kingdoms into perpetual war would be a great way to get his kicks.

* VillainDecay: Downplayed; He's still every bit the villain he was during the Mantis war, but given his plans to run a kingdom have fallen to ash, he's basically back to being Strife's lapdog...but the rebellion lead by Girardot didn't just happen by ''itself''.
