Essentially a collective EvilCounterpart team towards Team Sonic, they share many moves with each other in ''Sonic Heroes''. Their levels are much more complex and more elaborate, effectively serving as the game's Hard Mode. Their Team Blast is "Chaos Inferno", where Shadow activates Chaos Control to temporarily stop time, while Rouge air lifts Omega, who obliterates all enemies in the immediate area; afterwards, time shall stand still until the Team Blast gauge is depleted.

* CastHerd: After ''VideoGame/SonicHeroes'', they were rarely seen apart, much like Team Sonic. This lasted until VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006 where they began to fall OutOfFocus along with the rest of the supporting cast and if they do appear, they rarely interact with each other.

* LetsYouAndHimFight: Shadow and Rouge fought in ''VideoGame/SonicRivals 2''.

* MovesetClone: Even when none of the teams are particularly different from each other in their abilities, they're still nearly identical-playing to Team Sonic.

* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: A brooding [[ArtificialHuman Artificial Hedgehog]], a treasure-hunting bat, and an AxCrazy RoboticPsychopath.

* TookALevelInJerkass: Without personal stakes or drama in the matter, Rouge and Shadow show their nastier side in Free Riders, being openly greedy in Rouge's case and openly condescending and competitive in Shadow's case. Likewise, they treat their team member, a random E-10000B robot, like dirt to which many competitors which beg them to be more considerate, which it falls on dead ears.
* TrueCompanions: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. They don't share the straight-up camaraderie as Sonic and his immediate group of friends, but the three trust each other more than other folks. This carried over into ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006'' where Rouge and Omega choose to support Shadow despite the fact that the world may one day turn on him. This trait of theirs has been downplayed though when they all began to fall OutOfFocus.

* UndyingLoyalty: For a group of distrustful {{Wild Card}}s, all three have this for each other. Even Rouge, which is proven by her words to Shadow.

* NinetiesAntiHero: [[DownplayedTrope He never fully played this trope,]] but he's always sort of leaned on it (his name and color scheme being pretty harsh and a vengeful personality). He shows more traits of this for his own game, though (guns, swearing, and motorcycle riding galore).

** In ''Sonic 2006'', he was the second person to rescue Sonic from being killed by Silver (the first being Amy).

* BigNo: In ''Sonic 2006'', he yells a big "NOOOOOOOOO!" every time he falls into a BottomlessPit.

* BottomlessBladder: Throughout the majority of the series, he's typically never been shown to ingest any matter of food or doesn't even tend to drink either. There's a possibility that since he's a genetic artificial being, Shadow either contains self-sustenance in his body or was made to survive without requiring any nourishment for himself. However, in the second animated short of Team Sonic Racing: Overdrive, he's shown feasting on a bag of popcorn ([[KickTheDog that he stole from a Chao]]) which shows that he's perfectly content with eating food regardless.

* AscendedExtra: Despite spending most of her time being a supporting cast member inherently linked with Team Dark, ''WesternAnimation/SonicPrime'' and ''VideoGame/SonicDreamTeam'' have positioned her as part of the main cast, with ''Dream Team'' not featuring Shadow or Omega in any capacity.

* DudeMagnet: Knuckles is implied to have a thing for her, and a mini-game in ''VideoGame/SonicGenerations'' shows that she's ''so sexy'' that even [[InterspeciesRomance Eggman's robots fall for her.]]

** 'Sonic '06'' split the difference and she instead plays like Tails and Knuckles combined, having the long range bombs that Tails has, combined with the ability to glide and climb like Knuckles.

** He also displays this with Sonic as evident in ''VideoGame/ShadowTheHedgehog'' where he is irritated of the blue hedgehog's friendly attitude and adventurous nature.

* WithFriendsLikeThese: He and Sonic's rivalry seemed to have become slightly more friendly over time, but he's still annoyed of the blue hedgehog's unserious attitude, and their rivalry is still rather intense and aggressive when not putting it aside.

* OddFriendship: Despite not interacting much, she gets along fairly well with Sonic despite him being Shadow's rival and her being Knuckles and Amy's rival.
