* MythologyGag: Shadow's Chaos Control in the TV series is identical to how it appeared in the opening of ''VideoGame/ShadowTheHedgehog'', even though it never appears like this in any of the games proper.

* LighterAndSofter: That's right, the series' goddamned KnightOfCerebus is this. Instead of being the PragmaticHero he is in canon, he's simply a {{Jerkass}} with a superiority complex, like you'd see on a Saturday Morning Cartoon. Mainstream!Shadow, in comparison, is an AntiHero, who goes through constant struggles, is traumatized, and was forced to watch his 12-year-old surrogate sister ''shot to death''. This version, however, has none of that tragic backstory, and is just a standard villain, who happens to outclass Sonic.

* DarkerAndEdgier: According to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzLy_Kkp9W0 GameXplain]], Lyric will be a much darker, more "rough" villain than those who came before him, intended to shift the game's target audience to older gamers.

* CatchPhrase: "Not cool, Sonic."

* VillainsOutShopping: One episode plot has him playing a Pretty Puppy MMO with Amy.

* TheLeader: Her profile states she has natural leadership qualities for those around her, which makes her the charismatic type. Sonic may be the main character as usual, but Amy is generally the one calling the shots from what we've seen.

* TestosteronePoisoning: He takes masculinity ''very'' seriously. When Tails ask Knuckles for dating advice, he emphasizes the importance of lifting weights, eating red meat, and taking up woodworking. Things don't go as planned.

* LargeHam: Has the comedic tendency to speak in a dramatic or poetic fashion, especially in "Mayor Knuckles"

* LittleProfessorDialog: Can slip into this sometimes, especially when explaining things.

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: When he comes to live with Sonic in ''Can An Evil Genius Crash on Your Couch for a Few Days?'', he brings Orbot & Cubot with him, because in his own words, they're family. And according to WordOfGod, [[https://twitter.com/BillFreiberger/status/599818009159446529 though he'll never admit it, they're the closest thing he has to friends]].

* AbsenteeActor: "Battle of the Boy Bands" is thus far the only episode he makes no appearance in.

* AccidentalMisnaming: Eggman never onces gets Knuckles name right in the show. He calls him Nurples, Noodles, Nickles, and various other versions. It isn't certain if he's doing this deliberately or if he legitimately keeps forgetting. Either way, Knuckles never notices.
* AffablyEvil: As always, Eggman is an EvilGenius. But damn if he isn't friendly- right down to wanting to improve the living conditions in his own ''prison cells''-

** A future episode shows he really wants to [[spoiler: open an amusement park]] so he can make a fortune.

** In "My Fair Sticksy". he uses a ballot bot to stuff the ballot box with votes for him so he would win an award. When he doesn't win regardless of his cheating, he decides to have his robots attack the gala.
** In "Fortress of Squallortude", he hires and later kidnaps Amy... to force her to redecorate his lair so he'd be on the cover of a magazine that features evil lairs.

** Spend most of "Fuzzy Puppy Buddies" playing the titular game with Amy.

* ItsAllAboutMe: Confess in "Eggheads", "I only want what's best for me!".

* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: In "Dude, Where's My Eggman", [[spoiler: he throws a special party for Orbot and Cubot "to improve their morale". He then confesses that he had them to do all the work then erased their memory to make it a surprise.]]

* SpotlightStealingSquad: Eggman is the focus or heavily featured in almost every episode, even ones where he plays next to no role in. This results in him overshadowing Sonic and Tails as well as reducing Knuckles, Amy and Sticks to near minor character status. This is likely linked to Mike Polluck's admittedly hilarious comedic timing.

* JerkassHasAPoint: In "Tails' Crush", out of all the characters, it's ''Eggman'' who finally tells Tails that the best way to talk to women is to just be comfortable being yourself and you'll never get anywhere trying to act like anyone else. When Tails questions why he's trying to help him, Eggman claims the Bro Code comes before "the whole enemy thing".

* VocalEvolution: She sounds far less like Minnie Mouse than in past few games; now she sounds more like [[VideoGame/{{Blazblue}} Makoto Nanaya]] or [[VideoGame/Persona4Arena Labrys]][[note]]minus the [[UsefulNotes/AmericanAccents Bronx accent]] of course[[/note]].

* TheLancer: Just as his main series counterpart was a responsible and serious foil to the headstrong and cocky mainseries Sonic, this interpretation makes Knuckles boisterous DumbMuscle to contrast with the jaded toned down Sonic. Both challenge Sonic's leadership, and he's more of a partner when they pair up rather than a sidekick like Tails.

* MusclesAreMeaningful: Likely the reason why he's so buff.
* NeverLearnedToRead: "My Fair Sticksy" reveals that Knuckles can't read.

* IronButtMonkey: Despite his SuperStrength ([[MadeOfIron or maybe because of it]]), Knuckles challenges Eggman for victim of the most slapstick abuse throughout the show.

* AdaptationalBadass: He was already badass, but in ''Rise of Lyric'', he fires off rounds of Chaos Spear and Chaos Blast with very short recharge periods and without Chaos Emeralds or any other apparent power supply. He can also turn invulnerable and harmful to the touch temporarily and is as fast as ever. He can blink across the arena as well.

* TheComicallySerious: In the TV series, he "participates" in Eggman's team building in the loosest sense of the word, showing up and mocking the rest of the villains, keeping his responses very dry.
