* FromNobodyToNightmare: In the first game, the Saints were just a tiny gang that only had control over a small part of the city while the more powerful gangs controlled about 95-99% of the rest of Stilwater. By the end of the third game, they may have complete control over a city-state that is separate from the rest of the nation and able to openly challenge the US government. By the time the 4th game rolls around, the gang have effectively become part of a world government [[spoiler:and by the end have become a galactic empire]].

Or so we're lead to believe, after all, DeathIsCheap. As it turns out, he survived by using a Morning Star guard as a human shield against Loren's machine gun, knocking the arms dealer unconscious immediately after. Observing the battle, Zinyak, the big bad of the 4th game, abducted Johnny for fear of him being one of the only humans able to stop him. Locked away in a simulation on his ship where he constantly relived Aisha's death, the Boss eventually rescued him from his digital nightmare in time to fight the final battle against the Zin.

** [[spoiler: The spin-off "Saints Row: Money Shot" reveals that he was tracked down and assassinated by the Ultor Corporation. But since that game was cancelled, this explanation isn't considered canon. The most we know is that he probably got blown up with the Earth in the 4th game.]]

* TheGlassesGottaGo: Super Kinzie in Saints Row 4 doesn't wear glasses.

* ShrinkingViolet: While socially reclusive, she does make an attempt to bond with the other characters in her own awkward way and she does get a little better at it by the 4th game.

* TeethClenchedTeamwork: With Matt in the 4th game. They eventually develop a working relationship, but one of Kinzie's idle quips in ''Gat out of Hell'' is wishing for Matt to be in hell rotting away.

* BestFriend: Johnny is established as the Playa/Boss' best friend, to the point where the two of them would risk their and other Saints' lives to help each other at the drop of a hat. A lot of it probably has to do with the fact that in later games, he and The Boss are the only survivors of the original Third Street Saints who remained true to the purple the whole time ([[spoiler:Troy remained... about as true to the gang as he ever was, so he is a complex case]]). Given that loyalty to the gang seems to be the only moral tenet that the Boss honors, being the longest-serving Saint makes Johnny their closest ally. Conversely, Johnny's only moral imperative is unrestrained violence, and the only person who can even match him in the carnage department is the Boss.

* HotterAndSexier: She was by no means unattractive in the second game, but in the third game, she gets a FormFittingWardrobe (which even comes with a BareYourMidriff) and her breasts seem to have increased in size (it's possible that she may have gotten breast implants, as many celebrities do.)
* IHatePastMe: [[spoiler:Present Shaundi thinks of her past self as a worthless load, while past Shaundi sees her future self as joyless and uptight.]]

* MeetYourEarlyInstallmentWeirdness: After being freed from her simulation in ''IV'', [[spoiler:her consciousness is split into two entities, her hippie-self from ''2'' and her bitchy-self from ''The Third''. Both Shaundis dislike what the other one was/has become and the two end up reconciling their differences and learning that they are both the same.]]

* StuffedIntoTheFridge: [[spoiler:Sharp shoots her body in front of Donnie when she attempts to warn him, resulting in the latter freaking out and running away. Her death also results in the Boss killing Sharp in return, and judging by Pierce taking a poster of Lin down in ''The Third'', its likely that the Boss cared about Lin to be genuinely upset about her death.]]

* BaldWoman: Her futuristic cyborg self in ''How the Saints Save Christmas''; the right side of her head is hairless.

* BaldOfAwesome: Well, he'd like to come across as this.

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: In 2, after [[Aisha's death and at her funeral]], Johnny completely discards his bravado and BloodKnight tendencies, telling Shogo to name a time and place, but not here [[spoiler:during a funeral]]. And when Shogo presses the issue, well, see the TranquilFury instance below.

* IfItsYouItsOkay: When propositioned for sex by the Boss in ''IV'', he'll say he normally doesn't swing that way, but for the Boss he'll make an exception. He says this regardless of whether the Boss is a man or a woman, so whatever way he normally swings is a mystery for the ages (unless he means that he normally [[{{Asexuality}} doesn't swing at all]]).
