* ByronicHero: She's moody, withdrawn, and is very, very difficult to approach and sympathize with, but those rare few who can tend to get doted on and treasured. She also has an internal "hard cap" to the level of atrocity and suffering she can inflict. In fact, her internal monologues frequently point out that she doesn't enjoy the atrocities she commits, despite her public declarations otherwise. In fact, she's only lashing out and doing heinous things because ''she'' is scared, and if she could be assured that those loathsome individuals who wronged her would be properly dealth with, she'd happily leave the world alone. Because she's under near-constant threat instead, she's driven to give those gruesome villains and their supporters graphic treatment that makes them ''beg'' for death.

Added DiffLines:

* {{Ubermensch}}: She cares not a whit, or precious little, about the local laws and customs, because they suck. She lives by her own moral code that treasures those few who treat her kindly, rewards loyalty, spares the innocent and helps the helpless, even if it is for pragmatic reasons, and delivers graphic and brutal retribution on those she considers her enemies, and she will do whatever she has to to ensure her survival and that of her close allies.

Added DiffLines:

* DemonKingNobunaga: Because she's an undead, rising again with a RoaringRampageOfRevenge after her and her mother's unjust execution, is labeled an abomination by the Creator God, and because of her own atrocities, she is hated and feared, with even those sympathetic to her looking to utterly destroy her on sight, the moment they're able, Catherine being the only on-screen exception. The fact that she has the moral high-ground, legitimacy, and her enemies are far, far worse in ''their'' attrocities rarely makes a dent in public perception.

Catherine can fully comprehend where the latter is coming from as she ''also'' had her mother die under horrible circumstances, but while Catherine had a happy family to help support her and keep her safe, René had nobody who would sympathize with her, at least not in any way that would actively help, until she lashed out in grief, pain, and rage, and then most people either try to buy her forgiveness with cheap memorials out of sheer terror, or attack her, at best deluding themselves that destroying her will grant her peace.

Genuine friendship and a shoulder to cry on is actually the most viable way to get her to disarm and stand down while attacking her is only going to make her even angrier and more vicious.
