[[caption-width-right:250:''The hot-blooded king! Kuwagata Ohger!'']]

* ContrastingSequelProtagonist: While both him and [[Series/AvataroSentaiDonbrothers Taro Momoi]] are large hams who laugh and play up their theatrics, Taro was the scion of a royal bloodline who was brought up as a commoner, while Gira is from a humble background who stole a place among royalty.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: When he sees a soldier harassing a couple, Gira drives him off by pretending to be chummy with him and have the other orphans pelt said soldier and himself, showcasing his willingness to help others, even if he decides to label himself as a villain and get punished for it.
* EvilHero: Invoked and Averted given the context of his situation; while Gira does proclaim himself as the King of Evil, this largely in response to Racules's "[[KnightTemplar justice]]" that he uses to justify allowing his own citizens to be sacrificed and invade the other kingdoms. Gira, rejecting this attitude, declares himself to be the "evil" that'll destroy that kind of justice.
* EvilLaugh: He has a haughty laugh to accompany his hammy "King of Evil" persona.
* GrinOfAudacity: As a result of being committed to his "King of Evil", Gira is prone to showing off plenty of shit-eating grins.
* HotBlooded: Downplayed, his roll-call featuring the phrase notwithstanding; he's energetic and sometimes hot-tempered, but he rarely goes to the extremes unless he's in his "King of Evil" persona.
* LargeHam: Tends to be quite over-the-top when he lapses into his [[EvilIsHammy "villain" persona]].
* TheMostWanted: Defying Racules and stealing his Ohger Calibur has him effectively branded as a traitor to Shugoddam, with Racules now actively sending out troops to seek his capture and execution for his defiance.
* MeaningfulName: His name is derived from the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Prosopocoilus_giraffa giraffe stag beetle]].
* NiceGuy: He's a kind soul that attends to everyone's needs before his. Even when he assumes his "king of evil" persona, he tends to use it for benevolent or heroic reasons.
* OddNameOut: The only member of the King-Ohgers with OnlyOneName known, due to being an orphan who is not of royalty.
* RedIsHeroic: He is the Red Ranger, and is undoubtedly a good guy... his being carried away by his villain roleplaying aside.
* RookieRedRanger: Compared to the other King-Ohgers, who either were born into royalty and have been raised since young in preparation for their future roles (Himeno, Rita and Kaguragi), or at the very least have been in the role for a good while despite being not of royal birth (Yanma). He ends up becoming Kuwagata Ohger after taking Racules' Ohger Calibur when the latter turned out to be a jerk and God Kuwagata accepted him as the rightful heir to the powers.
* RuleOfSymbolism: Not only did he steal Racules' Ohger Calibur, but also his mantle with Shugoddam's emblem, signifying him TakingUpTheMantle as the one true protector of Shugoddam.
* ShutUpHannibal: When he steals and points Racules's ''Ohger Calibur'' at him, Racules states that he has made himself the enemy of the world. Gira promptly let's him know that he's ''completely fine'' with that and will completely crush the brand of justice the king represents.
* TakeOverTheWorld: Often declares that he'll conquer the world, though this is less sinister compared to other examples as this is just something to bolster his "King of Evil" persona and he's more interested in saving the world rather than outright conquering it
* ThenLetMeBeEvil: Realising that the only way to stand up against Racules' EvilOverlord ways is to actually be branded a traitor himself, he declares himself as his own "King of Evil" and officially a rebel against his own kingdom.
* TheUnchosenOne: Zigzagged. He steals Racules' Ohger Calibur, but shouldn't be able to use it as he isn't of a royal lineage. Yet not only is he able to transform, he is also the chosen one acknowledged by God Kuwagata.

* JerkassHasAPoint: As rude and dismissive to the others during their meeting about the 2000 year prophecy, Yanma was ''completely'' on the ball about Racules being a total OpportunisticBastard and was planning on using the situation with the Bugnarok to take over all of the other kingdoms.

* ProperlyParanoid: Refuses to acknowledge Racules as leader, suspecting that he's only using the prophecy as an excuse to monopolize power. Sure enough, when the Bugnarok first invade, Racules sits idly by and does nothing while the other King-Ohgers try to protect everyone, while making plans to invade the other kingdoms afterward.

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: When we are first introduced to her, Himeno is shown to be rather pampered and haughty, actually delaying her departure to Shugoddam ''just to finish putting on her makeup''. However, during the attack on Shugoddam, she as Kamakiri Ohger immediately moves to protect Gira and several children from Bugnarok soldiers.

* CameBackWrong: A downplayed case. Its revived form in present day is still no less a threat to the Bugnarok, but clearly lacks a number of parts compared to how it was depicted in Tikyū's prophecy.

* AWolfInSheepsClothing: He's initially presented as [[TheGoodKing a benevolent king]], if a little stern and standoffish; however, there are hints that things aren't as rosy under his reign as they appear. He drops the mask during the Bugnarok attack, being an OrcusOnHisThrone while the other King-Ohgers fight the Bugnarok, revealing to Gira his intention to usurp the other kingdoms once they have exhausted themselves in order to TakeOverTheWorld, regardless of the lives that would be sacrificed in the process.

* GrinOfAudacity: As a result of being committed to his "King of Evil", Gira is prone to showing off plenty of shit-eating grins.

* ShutUpHannibal: When he steals and points Racules's ''King's Weapon'' at him, Racules states that he has made himself the enemy of the world.

* JerkassHasAPoint: As rude and dismissive to the others during their meeting about the 2000 year prophecy, Yanma was ''completely'' on the ball about being a total OpportunisticBastard and was planning on using the situation with the Bugnarok to take over all of the other kingdoms.

Added DiffLines:

* ItsAllAboutMe: When Gira argues that the king's job is supposed to protect the people, Racules replies that the people are simply a means and that [[IAmTheNoun he is the nation.]]

Added DiffLines:

* SkewedPriorities: Is more focused on trying to take over the other kingdoms rather than dealing with the invading force that's threatening to extremity the human race.

* {{Expy}}: of Ryuya from ''Series/MiraiSentaiTimeranger''. They are both prominent figures on the side of good, but ultimately shows themselves to be utter scumbags who are only looking out for their own interests. Also, both of their spots on the team are taken by that season's red ranger respectively.
