** ''Battlefield of Pacifists'' offers another explanation for why he made his ''Endless Waltz'' FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler:He met a former OZ soldier who believed conflict should be used to bring out humanity's best, in this case encouraging deep space exploration. The soldier dies asking Wu Fei how far humanity will go, and as he flies off after the final battle, Wu Fei promises him that he'll be the threat that makes humanity advance]].

* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: Wu Fei goes through this a lot, which seems to be the source of confusion about his character. Initially he just follows [[spoiler: his dead wife]]'s ideals to honor her memory, despite the fact that he didn't believe in them himself. His role in Operation Meteor greatly conflicts with his sense of honor and fairness. Upon losing his home colony, he takes up the ideal of justice (urged upon him by Master Long before he died) In ''Endless Waltz'' he rejects the notion of true peace because it would destroy people like himself who can't live without fighting. In the end he finds his niche with the Preventers, still fighting, but this time in order to protect peace and the innocent.

* TheHerosBirthday: The first episode starts on her birthday (April 7th), when she turns 15.

* SenpaiKohai: Refers to his partner [[spoiler: Heero Yuy]] as ''senpai'', implying he had quite a degree of respect for him.

* FragileSpeedster: The Tallgeese is one of the fastest mobiles suits around for the first half of the series, but as it was made out of titanium alloy like most MechaMooks at the time, one well-placed shot will do a great amount of damage to it.

* PeekABangs: His impressive bangs almost always covers just one eye, depending on the angle.

* PeekABangs: Downplayed. Her bangs cover her right eye, but it's still visible from certain angles.

* GenerationXerox: [[spoiler: The rebel of her family, plays the violin, partnered with a young man without a name and with PeekABangs...]]

* SilkHidingSteel: She looks and acts like the TheOjou at first and matures into her later political role. As her encounters with Heero, Lady Une, and Dermail demonstrate, she has a steel will and plenty of guile. The most powerful non-violent character.

* The Scrappy: Somewhat. Quatre is usually regarded by the larger fandom as a buttmonkey for everything he goes through in the series. Not helped by the fact fanpolls for the most popular character were run during the manga adaptation (which included G Gundam characters). When the results were published, Quatre was the only Gundam pilot of his series who didn't even break into the top 20.

* ShipSinking: Based on what we know of Sally's Po daughter Kathy Po, it's likely that Sally and Wufei did not get together in the end.

* CoolMask: both Trowa and Heavyarms have a half-clown mask they can wear.

* TheInfiltration: Has something of a habit of doing this. Whereas Heero will enter an enemy stronghold and destroy it, or whatever his target is, while also taking whatever information he can from their computers by force, Trowa will instead infiltrate their ranks to gain the same information. He does this with Oz in the main series and the Mariemaia Army in ''Endless Waltz.

* MadeOfIron: Dorothy [[spoiler: stabs him through the side]] yet he still manages to stand there and make a very long speech at her before Trowa takes him to safety, then pilot his mobile suit out of the Libra again.

* WhipItGood: The Gundam Epyon [[spoiler:and the Tallgeese III]] both have a heat rod whip, combining whipping with super high temperatures to be incredibly deadly.

* DeadPersonImpersonation (Sort of. He took up the "Trowa Barton" name after the real one was murdered in front of his eyes, to cover up for the guy's death and help the people who killed him.)

* VillainousBreakdown: When Heero fires on their base, he begins to lose it as his plans start to fall apart and that the people, whom he thought would roll over due to the newfound pacifist nature, are willing to stand up against his army. It reaches it zenith when he tries to call for Mariemaia to continue to lead the charge. When she is convinced otherwise, he shoots her ranting all the while how the Barton family are the true rulers of Earth.

* AmbiguouslyRelated: She claims to be Treize's daughter, but that could just be a lie to bolster her claims to rule. How much evidence varies by depiction: In the animated version of ''Endless Waltz'', Dekim makes some suspicious comments about "making" Mariemaia. In the manga, version [[spoiler:his last words all but says she was a homeless girl chosen and brainwashed by him]]. However, the ''Episode Zero'' prequel manga shows Treize really did get close to, and possibly have an affair with, Dekim's daughter Leia.

* NotGoodWithPeople: That's such an understatement. He's at best rude to most everyone he meets, including peoples whose life he saves, his teammates, or his wife.

* BareYourMidriff: Sometimes wears a half tank top and a pair of shorts

* TheChick: [[GuileHero Very charismatic and quite good at handling people,]] while also knowing how to [[TheHeart inspire people in her orbit]]. She handled a gun [[LadyOfWar rather elegantly and more than passably]] in the beginning, but that didn't come up directly again because of her belief in Peacecraft Total Pacifism.

* NaginatasAreFeminine: The Gundam Shenlong wields a naginata while Altron wields a beam trident, which fits with how he named it for his wife.

* ICallItVera: His Gundam's nickname is "Nataku", [[spoiler: named after his deceased wife]].

* NaginatasAreFeminine: The Gundam Shenlong wields one while Altron wields a beam trident, though ironically, Wufei's the most masculine of the five.

* SempaiKohai: Refers to his partner [[spoiler: Heero Yuy]] as ''senpai'', implying he had quite a degree of respect for him.

* MidSeasonUpgrade: With his Tallgeese beginning to show its limits against OZ's more advanced mobile suits and mobile dolls, he decides to switch over to the Wing Gundam Zero, self-destructing his Tallgeese in the process. After dueling Heero following the fall of the Sanc Kingdom, Zechs agrees to switch Gundams with Heero, and ends up using the Gundam Epyon for the rest of the series. While the Gundam Epyon lacks ranged weapons unlike the Tallgeese, its performance greatly exceeds the latter, and is basically Wing Gundam Zero's equal. The former is also designed by Treize, who Zechs has a more personal relationship to, unlike Heero. Thus, the Gundam is more than just a fancy new toy for him.

* MeaningfulName[=/=]PropheticName: Her last name, Peacecraft. Fitting name for a family that preaches and practices a philosophy known as "Total Pacifism."

* ReassignmentBackfire: Duke Dermail offered her to be Queen of the World, which she reluctantly accepts. Although this was intended only to be a PR move on Dermail's behalf, it backfired on him, and she became more powerful than him.
* RebelliousPrincess: [[PrincessesRule Ruler of the Sanc Kingdom]], and Relena actively opposes anyone who wants to violate her pacifism ideals.

* TheTeam: Heero is TheHero and The Heart of Outer Space, Duo is TheLancer as a cheery foil to Heero's stoicism. The two also have angels vs devils motif. Trowa is TheQuietOne, who prefers to keep his head down and do important work, while occasionally dropping nuggets of wisdom. Quatre is TheHeart and TheSmartGuy, both traits that eventually make him TheLeader when all five get together. Wufei is an IneffectualLoner and the closest the series has to a BigGuy since he's mostly there to fight.
