* SelfMadeOrphan: Chapter 10 of ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureCrazyDiamondsDemonicHeartbreak Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak]]'' reveals that after he and his brother, Petsounds, were taken in by DIO, his first order from DIO was to use Horus to murder his original owner, to which Pet Shop gladly complied and {{impaled|with extreme prejudice}} his original owner with a giant icicle. The following chapter showed that he was then burned to death.

* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Played with. By being a part of the PraetorianGuard of DIO's mansion, the assumption could be made that he is nominally the leader of the Nine Glory Gods through narrative logic. However, outside his mind-reading and soul taking powers, Atum doesn't have any concrete fighting skills that would put it above the more offense based powers of the other members. [[HeartIsAnAwesomePower Given that Stands are defined by the user's creativity in the application of their power and not purely by offensive capabilities]], it's a moot point.

* DarkChick: The only female member of the 9 Gods and she embodies the [[LightFeminineAndDarkFeminine Dark Feminine to a T]]. Since she doesn't fight directly, relying solely on her stand, she's one of those indeed.

* KickTheSonOfABitch: One of his victim, [[DeadlyDoctor Dr. Elliott]], is a SerialKiller who killed 8 of his patients. While Telence is much worse, stealing Elliott's soul remains the closest thing to a good deed he ever did.

* HateSink: Alessi is ''definitely'' the most unlikable, petty and obnoxious of the Egypt 9 Glory Gods faced by Jotaro and crew after their arrival in Egypt, save perhaps for Telence T. D'Arby mentioned below. While there are several moments where his {{Jerkass}}ery is PlayedForLaughs and his [[DoubleTake wild expressiveness]] and [[LaughablyEvil sheer incompetence are somewhat entertaining to watch]], he is still a thoroughly-despicable scumbag, which is given for a [[DirtyCoward child abuser]] with ''[[WouldHurtAChild incredibly]]'' [[WouldHurtAChild paedophilic undertones]]. He easily rivals Steely Dan when it comes to being a reprehensible piece of work; which is further emphasized when he [[CurbStompBattle gets his ass handed to him]] by a freaking ''seven-year-old'' Jotaro and '''''three-year-old''''' Polnareff!

* {{Jerkass}}: On top of being a psychotic killer, he's just a plain arrogant asshole, to boot. The second he thinks he's the strong one in a fight, he gloats at every single opportunity of how children can't stand up to him.

* EvilWeapon: Can possess the wielder if the user draws the sword from its sheath, corrupting them into violent, bloodthirsty versions of their original selves.

* KickTheSonOfABitch: Chaka's first victims after being possessed were his [[AbusiveParents abusive father]] and several farmhands who were bullying him and greedily tried to take the sword he found for themselves.

** The first thing Chaka does upon being possessed by Anubis is to violently kill his [[AbusiveParents abusive father]], along with [[KickTheSonOfABitch several other farmhands who were bullying him]] and greedily trying to take the sword for themselves after getting him to unsheathe it.

* TheStarscream: The only Stand in Part 3 not bound to a single user, effectively betraying whoever picks it up -- since Anubis does not actually give a damn about its wielder surviving at all -- in order to fulfill its mission from DIO. Over the course of its arc, it possesses at least four different people.

* TalkingWeapon: One of the few Stands that can talk independently, as a result of being a separate being from whoever uses it.

Although Daniel fears Telence, it's more due to the latter's depravity and Stand ability rather than any real skill on his part: Daniel nearly takes out the entire Joestar Group by himself with backup plans and conventional cheating methods while Telence, despite — or rather, because of — his overreliance on his Stand, nearly loses to Kakyoin and is defeated by a trick Daniel would've easily seen through. Furthermore, Telence is ultimately outsmarted and defeated by Joseph Joestar, who previously lost to Daniel.

* DeathByIrony: Anubis is named for the Egyptian god of embalming. He dies by rusting away.

* EvilWeapon: Can possess the wielder if the user draws the sword from its sheath.
* FakingTheDead: It looks like Jotaro successfully destroys Anubis and freeing Polnareff from his control, but Anubis' consciousness is stored in ''every'' part of the sword, and the remaining half of the blade takes over a child and attempts to kill the two weakened men, only to fail and consign itself to an AndIMustScream fate.

* KickTheSonOfABitch: Chaka's first victims after being possessed were his [[AbusiveParents abusive father]] and several farmhands who were bullying him and greedily tried to take the sword for themselves.

** Averted by Anubis itself. It was actually loyal to its original owner Caravan before the blacksmith's death and didn't have a role in his end.
* SchmuckBait: How he's ultimately defeated. As Jotaro apparently begs for his life, he tells Anubis not to push the blade in any further or it will be "murder". When Anubis spitefully does do this, Jotaro reveals it was bait for the former to stay still long enough for Jotaro to break the blade and promptly defeat him.
* SelfDisposingVillain: He attempts to throw himself at Jotaro and Polnareff when they think he's defeated, but thanks to Iggy interfering, he ends up starting a sequence of events that leads to him being lost at the bottom of the Nile River. To make the defeat even worse, Polnareff and Jotaro never even knew he was still a threat.

* WreckedWeapon: First Anubis' blade gets snapped in half, and then Jotaro smashes the half attached to the sword hilt along with said hilt to pieces. The remaining half still holding Anubis' consciousness attempts to get revenge, but ends up failing.

* {{Irony}}: The irony about D'Arby is that despite being a gambler, who usually relies on chance as much as wit, he always cheats before the game even starts to ensure that whenever he gambles with someone, he will always be in control of the situation. This ends up causing his downfall when Jotaro's own BatmanGambit counters all of D'Arby's cheating methods, which leaves D'Arby without any control of the game. Because of his unwillingness to take the chance and call Jotaro's bluff which would have granted him victory, he ends up succumbing to his own stress and loses.

* GagBoobs: Averted. It's actually a bunch of nails, nuts, and bolts stuffed inside the outer layer of her bra, which get attracted to the magnetized Joseph and Avdol.

* EvilCounterpart: Can be considered this to Iggy: An IntellectualAnimal Stand-user with an elemental power that fills a sort of TeamPet role. The difference? Pet Shop, in addition to working for DIO, is [[PsychoForHire utterly ruthless on his job as guardian]] (he killed a boy's two dogs just because they peeked under DIO's Mansion gate and nearly kills said boy) and [[TheVoiceless is never given a mental speaking line]]; while Iggy, despite initially feeling that he was dragged against his will to the Crusaders' quest, shows more loyalty to them (and the aforementioned boy who was about to be killed by saving him from Pet Shop, and even gets saved by him in turn) by being a SpannerInTheWorks (albeit unwittingly), and we get several mental speaking lines from him. To boot, Pet Shop is the only Stand User Iggy fights on his own.

* EvilCounterpart: Can be considered this to Iggy: An IntellectualAnimal Stand-user with an elemental power that fills a sort of TeamPet role. The difference? [[PsychoForHire Pet Shop is evil]].
