* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Subverted. A diary entry by Booster explains that he was friends with Daisuke Sakamoto and became depressed upon the latter’s death, and sought to claim the Demon Crown in memory of his friend; Booster surmises that the Demon Crown used this to corrupt him. But just before the true final battle, he reveals that HE killed Daisuke just for being in the way.

Added DiffLines:

* {{Oculothorax}}: His OneWingedAngel form, Tristitia, is a giant Ballos-like meteor with a big red eye instead of a face.
* OneWingedAngel: After his first two phases are beaten, he turns into Tristitia, a giant meteor-like {{Oculothorax}} monster heavily resembling Ballos’ final form.

[[folder:White]]
A mysterious entity who resides in the Super Secret Room. They desire to destroy the dream world and will attack if you find your way in.
----
* AllYourPowersCombined: They take the form of every single boss in the game, a la BossRush.
* SuperBoss: Even finding it is difficult, and if you do they become the hardest boss in the game. Their battle is basically a BossRush where they take the form of every boss in the game, and you have to defeat it in one go.

* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Zigzagged; while the Mimingas still call him the Doctor, the researchers and Curly refer to him as Date.
* FalseFriend: He was apparently very close with Daisuke, according to Booster. However, when Daisuke disapproved of him seeking the Demon Crown, he promptly turned on- and killed- Daisuke.

!The Heroes

[[folder:Quote]]
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler:Happens to Quote during the true ending.]]
* HeroicMime: Just like in the original game, Quote appears as such for the player, but not for the other characters. The Magic Journal that the player can get in the Mimiga Village [[spoiler:and the Little Man from the first game, if brought over with the NewGamePlus feature]] can mitigate this effect a bit.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Curly Brace]]
* ItsPersonal: On two levels:
** On the way to the GoldenEnding, she discovers that [[spoiler:her children have gone [[BrainwashedAndCrazy frenzied]], thanks to the Doctor's influence. They're the miniboss of the Last Cave (Hidden). [[CrueltyIsTheOnlyOption You're given no other choice but to proceed]].]]
** During Arcadia, it's revealed that Curly, due to her amnesia recovery from the previous game, remembered even more than she let out at first. [[spoiler:Both her and Quote are creations from Dr. Sakamoto, Sue's grand-grandfather. They were left with his son, Daisuke Sakamoto, before the events that provoked the war on the floating island. Who was assassinated by Fuyuhiko Date, The Doctor, for getting in the way of his master plan to invade the island and usurp the Demon Crown and whatever power comes with it. [[RelativeButton Curly looks more than happy to be given the chance to confront him]].]]
* MamaBear: She looks distressed for the most of the game becuase she's worried about the Colons, four orphaned mimiga children that she took care of, in the original game, which due to the circumstances she unwillingly left behind.

[[folder:Misery]]
* CutsceneBoss: Your first encounter with Misery ends with her attacking you, [[spoiler:but the fight is almost immediately stopped by Booster]].

!Major Villains
[[folder:Suto]]
A strange and creepy being who resembles Balrog but is green. Unlike Balrog, however, Suto is much more malevolent.
----
* AxCrazy: He generally behaves in a jittery manner and often makes violent threats to other characters, and he wants to kill Quote.
* BonusBoss: His fourth and fifth battles are separate from the normal storyline.
* {{Cephalothorax}}: Like Balrog, he is a bar of soap with his head as his body.
* FlunkyBoss: In the third fight with him, the primary target is a very, very large white [[KingMook critter]]. The final, [[BonusBoss optional]] fight with him has [[spoiler:Bro Pignon]] helping him out.
* IllKillYou: Suto gets '''extremely''' peeved after his continued losing streak.
* ISurrenderSuckers: The last fight with him ends with Suto jumping away with the usual "Fought off Suto!" message...only for him to immediately crash down again for the fight's last phase.
* PaletteSwap: Of Balrog. He is green instead of grey.
* RecurringBoss: Suto replaces Balrog as this. He is fought a total of three times in the main story and twice as a BonusBoss.
* VillainousBreakdown: Suto gets more and more unhinged each time you fight him. By the 4th fight, [[spoiler:he's repeatedly screaming at you to die. And he gets even worse in the fifth]].
* WakeUpCallBoss: Suto, more or less. He has a lot of pent-up rage he intends to show off:
** The second fight with Suto is the earliest instance. VentPhysics blow you around, and his energy balls take multiple hits to destroy — many more if your weapon gets powered down mid-fight.
** The fight with [[spoiler:the [[MotherOfAThousandYoung Great White Critter]]]], who happens to have Suto helping her, as well. If you fail to avoid Suto himself, not only will you take damage from his grapple, you're very likely to be thrown into [[spoiler:the Great White Critter]] as well, taking additional damage in the process. [[note]]Although, the direction he throws you is simply the opposite as the direction he grabbed you from.[[/note]]

[[folder:The Nightmare (spoilers)]]
!Genesis and Oblivion
The titular nightmare wreaking havoc on the island. It split itself up into two halves, one that creates and one that destroys.
----
* AnthropomorphicPersonification: Genesis is to creation as Oblivion is to destruction. [[MeaningfulName Not that it was too hard to figure that out.]]
* ClimaxBoss: The fights against Genesis and Oblivion. Fittingly, they both get The Core's battle theme.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: For almost the whole game up to the normal ending, it is built up as the entity that is destroying the island. The GoldenPath reveals that it was being controlled by [[HijackedByGanon The Doctor]] the whole time.
* EldritchAbomination: It is a powerful being with the ability to warp the island.
* ThePowerOfCreation: Genesis creates whatever Oblivion destroys.
* PowerOfTheVoid: Oblivion destroys whatever Genesis creates.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tristitia (True Ending spoilers)]]
!Dr. Fuyuhiko Date/The Doctor
The antagonist of the original game, the madman who took over the island and enslaved the Mimingas for his world domination plans. Remaining as a spirit, he has returned and wants vengeance on all those who thwarted him.
----
* HijackedByGanon: He somehow returned from the dead, and the nightmare that enveloped the island was actually his doing all along.
* TrueFinalBoss: He is fought at the end of the GoldenPath.

!Minor Antagonists

[[folder:Monster X]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:King/Bro Pignon (spoilers)]]
The leader of a Pignon gang and a boss on the side-quest to re-obtain the Spur.
----
* FlunkyBoss: He has three (four before the current version) other Pignons in the room that leap around the room. [[AFormYouAreComfortableWith They act just like the Colins from the original game]].
